Although an official was has broken out, it was only when I got there that I noticed it wasn't a huge scale war. Perhaps only yet. I am going to use the wounded soldiers as experience.
"From now on, I'll be your healer." I said, as I barged into the infirmary, only to notice there wasn't anyone in. A nurse came in right after my announcement and she took me by surprise.
"Oh my, what brings you here? You're a soldier right?"
"Yes, I just arrived today, but I'm more of a 'medic' than a soldier."
"I see! That's wonderful. It's good to have someone else helping me out."
It is indeed always nice to have a hand helping you. But it made me question if she has been working alone all this time.
"Have you been working alone all this time?"
"I mean, it hasn't been long since the war started, and our soldiers are strong, so they don't get hurt often."
"Oh I see…" I replied, as my hopes of gaining experience was slowly going out the window.
"Come, since you'll be a medic, there are some things you need to know other than the things they showed you. I'll show you around."
And with that, the nurse took the lead and told me about the important places I can go to if someone is heavily injured, and where some chemicals and materials are in case we need to use them. It was a nice and instructive demonstration.
"I think I get the gist of the things around here. But I have a feeling I'll be more active on the battlefield."
"Indeed, I think so as well, but you never know, we might need you here someday."

The loud ringing sound of the metal clanking was all I could hear in the morning. It was not a good experience being with soldiers. It is at least good that they seperated the rooms for man and woman. I doubt things would be good for both sides.
The alarm was still ringing and I couldn't simply stay put and keep trying to sleep, because I was no longer a student. Just as I got up and tidied up my place, an instructor barged into the room, and everyone was shocked as we simply didn't expect an instructor to visit us this early.
The instructor came in front of me, and started shouting from the top of his lungs
"Are you Serenity?"
"Yes sir."
"Follow me."
A bothersome thing happened. Why was I following this man? But, it mattered not. However, soon enough, my opinion was quickly changed, as the instructor took me to a room with huge mana fluctuations.
"You are able to see it, aren't you?"
"Yes sir" I replied. He probably meant the mana.
"Well, that is good. We'll be moving to the frontlines now. We managed to cross the strait and we have managed to set up the teleportation device."
"Wow, Lolux must really want to win this war…" I noticed I accidentally spoke my thoughts out, but to my surprise, the instructor didn't mind.
"That is correct. The reason for this is actually because we have detected huge mana fluctuations from underground. As of now, we don't know what it is. It could be an ancient dungeon, it could be a mine, it could be anything."
"And is that why the Camor Empire started the war?"
"We believe so. The fluctuations indicate that whatever is underground, it shares some of its border with Lolux, which is why Camor decided to take the land for themselves."
"I see…"
"Now, get inside the room. You will be teleported to the frontlines. Apparently there was an unforseen reaction from the enemy, and we have some wounded."
"Wait, I'll be going alone?"
"Yes, of course."
"I-I see…" This guy was just sending me straight to death! All alone at that! But it was too late to change anything.
It was but a moment for me to change places. The walls colour changed and I knew it was successfully. However, weirdly enough, I wasn't greeted by anyone to take me to my place. It didn't take me too long to understand what was happening. Just as I opened the door, I saw that half of the building we were in was crumbling, and the other half was filled with healers and injured.
None of them were injured by pierce nor were they struck. It was all slashing. Wounds created by a long curved sword. A katana or a curved greatsword user managed to send all these soldiers to infirmary? It seems the situation is more grim than I had thought. I thought we were winning!
"You, this isn't the time to stand there, come and help those three out!"
"Ah, yes!" I replied quickly, collecting my thoughts and rushing the the wounded quickly.
Perhaps because I was new, perhaps because of my luck, the wounds weren't too serious. I was quickly able to heal all three of them with my dark magic.
"You… What is your healer classification..?" One of the doctors asked me right after I healed the wounded. However, the problem was that so far, I was classified as Mage, never as a healer.
"I… don't have one."
"But you were sent to the frontlines, that means you are good, and from seeing your work, I can say you are indeed good."
"T-thank you sir."
"Well, it is unfortunately not the time for idle chatter. Help me out with the wounded. We need to push back."
"Yes sir."
And with that, with the doctor in the lead, I followed him everywhere and we tried our best to heal everyone to the best of our abilities. At the end of the day, only one thing was in my mind: Light magic sure is beautiful.
Instead of the usual gory dark healing magic, watching light magic at work was something else. It was… peaceful? I'm not sure how to put it. But now the day was over, and I didn't even get the chance to sit down once. But thanks to that, we were nearly done with everyone. One of the nurses showed me where I would be staying while I was at the frontlines. I was tired, and even the rock hard, small bed was looking like the most cozy place to sleep. That was how my first day, although quick, ended.
I woke up in a way I never thought I would wake up in my life. The doctor woke me up, shaking me heavily, telling me that
"We have to go! Wake up!"
It didn't take me too long to get to my senses with the doctor shaking me.
"Quickly! We are getting attacked. The Camor Empire is stronger than our soldier here. We need to return!"
Those were words I never wished to hear. Why was I sent here in the first place? Was it because the frontlines needed more medics? Was it because I was good at healing others? Or was it because I was bad at it?
Half-asleep, I was following the doctor who was leading the way while holding me from my arm.
"Sir, you're hurting me" I said, but he didn't give me an answer. It was soon that I could open my eyes fully and look at him, only to find that we are already outside, and even the backdoor we left through is surrounded with what seems to be Camor Empire soldiers. Without even having any chance to comprehend what was happening, I heard a slicing sound.
I turned around to see a blade piercing the Doctors torso from behind, the blade nearly reaching me. The man that stabbed the doctor moved in a weird way before starting to talk
"Huh, they didn't say a kid would be here. Oi, kid, what're you doing here? How'd you get here in the first place?"
As he kept on asking more and more questions, he got closer and closer, until suddenly a huge man stopped him and then he started speaking
"What's your name young one?"
Shivering, I moved forward slowly, until the guy who stabbed the doctor pushed me, and I was in front of the huge man.
"I-I'm Serenity"
"Serenity… that is a nice name, young one…" Suddenly, in a moment, he released such sharp killing intent that I was actually scared for my life as he asked me
"So, what are you doing here, 'Serenity'?"
While some men were rushing behind me to enter the building, I was still surrounded by a lot of people. It didn't seem like a situation where I could escape. So, I did what any sane person would do.
"I'm, uhh, I'm a student. But recently, b-because of the war, they even started d-doing tests for students to d-draft them to war." I said, my voice shaking, from fear.
"I understand. Now young one, will you make things easier and follow me, or do we have to make things hard for you?"
The implication that I wouldn't even be a bother for them is pissing me off, but they are right. I need to survive, and I can't really do that with pride.
"I-I will follow you."
Without even knowing where we were going, I had to follow them. Perhaps we were just moving to a different place for my death. Perhaps they wouldn't kill me, but do things worse than death…
