Chapter 5 - Serenity - 5

"We have switched with another group at the frontlines. It was deemed that our duty was fulfilled. The Supreme One has held a celebration of our victory. It has been a long time since I have seen so many people laugh. Thank you, Serenity."

"You have started using my name finally."

"I believe it was about time. Although I am but a mere soldier in the grand scheme of things, I have managed to plead to the Supreme one as the captain of this squad."

"What did you talk about that you needed to talk with the Supreme One so much?"

"It was... about you. You see, when you were fainted, during the celebration, all the commonfolk would talk about your help. So I pleaded to the Supreme One. To nurture you, to give you a chance at living as a higher rank at this country."

"Wait wait wait… That is a lot of information to take in at once."

"Don't worry, for the remaining time, I will stay by your side. I'll help you out, and show you the ways of this country. But there is just one thing that we couldn't conclude. Your consent. If you don't want to be bothered by any of this stuff, you can just live as a normal civilian. But your powers would be a huge help."

"You know, I don't like taking on too much work. But with your recklessness like that, I can't trust that you won't get your other shoulder chopped. So, tell me, what do I need to do?"

"It won't be much. It's smooth sailing from here on out. You just need to go through a few tests, then it will be up to you what you want to do. If you can pass the test, the Supreme One will give you his support no matter where you go."

"And my part in this?"

"Of course, you will be tested on your magical capabilities from time to time. If you fail to meet the requirements, your support will be cut. The Supreme One wants you to keep pushing your limits. The second thing is that from time to time, you might be sent to special places for your healing services. This might be for war, for an important figure, or something along those lines."

"I see, it doesn't sound like a bad offer for someone who has nowhere else to go. When can I take this first test?"

"Whenever you feel ready. If you feel fine, we can get out of the hospital."

"I think I'll rest for a little more. Thank you, Eldran."

"Don't even mention it."
