Sam was surprised by her explaination because he had tried to consult many doctors and alchemists but none could give him a definite answer about his condition.
His family had prohibited him from telling others about his constitution so all that treated him only knew that he was inflicted by a vicious poison. All that examined him could never tell his constitution or the cause of the poison in his body. After failed treatments he was advised to accept his condition because the poison was not affecting his body whatsoever and the fact that he'll never cultivate again.
After thinking through what Clarissa said he knew that this parasite was intentionally inflicted on him. Who could be so vicious to actually harm him in this manner. He was a genius in his family but only those close to him knew of his constitution. Sam couldn't think of anyone in his family that will wish him harm unless his constitution was discovered by someone else and they planned such a way to deal with him. Sam was instantly covered by a blood thirsty aura, a vicious vengeful light flicked through his eyes.
Clarissa could tell that Sam had come to the same conclusion as her, someone had done this to him. She actually didn't know any of this. Little panda explained his situation to her. It seemed like they were fated to meet today. Clarissa paid the bill and headed home with Sam following her all the way. When they got home Clarissa introduced Sam to George and Leah then took Sam to meet grandmaster Josh who was in his alchemy room. Clarissa knocked on the door.
Clarissa: "Grandpa, are you busy?"
Grandmaster Josh was going through the herbs he was using to refine cultivation realm pills. Since these pills were sold in the divine pavilion this morning the entire city has been in havoc. No one knows where the pills came from but one of the masters from the alchemy tower bought one of the pills.
The head of the alchemy tower studied the pill together with grandmaster Josh and a few other grandmasters. They came up with a possible recipe and formula to make the pills and now grandmaster Josh was trying to refine the pills but he failed many times. Grandmaster Josh sighed deeply as he was conflicted with his failed attempts.
Grandmaster Josh: "come in my girl."
Clarissa saw the old man fuzzing with two pieces of papers. He was probably very busy with his refinement.
Clarissa: "grandpa you seem to be very busy. I can come back later."
Grandmaster Josh: "no it's okay. After so many attempts it's probably because we have created a wrong recipe or the formula is wrong. Come my dear why did you come to find this old man."
Clarissa: "grandpa this is Sam. I've just hired him as my guard. Since my cultivation is still low I need someone to protect me. He's at the core realm so he's quite suitable for the role."
Grandmaster Josh looked at Sam sharply. This lad is very handsome could it be that his granddaughter was taken by his looks? It seems he'll have to talk to her about being cautious of such people. Sam noticed the cold, cautious look grandmaster Josh was giving him. He was sure that he knew what the old man was thinking about but he didn't know how to explain it himself when Clarissa didn't exactly tell the truth. Clarissa didn't notice their weird interactions she just looked at the two pieces of paper on the table.
This was oddly familiar with a difference of a few herbs and the formula was also incorrect. If she guessed right grandmaster Josh was trying to refine cultivation realm pills. She took two blank papers on the side and quickly wrote down the correct ingredients and formula then handed it to grandmaster Josh. Grandmaster Josh didn't think too much about it but when he read the contents he was shocked. Without further words he concertrated on his refinement and even forgot about Clarissa and Sam.
Clarissa walked out of the room and went to her courtyard. Sam was given an executive room just close to Clarissa's courtyard.
