Lilith remained still, and time appeared to be trapped in place.
She was so afraid for her life that her heart sprang out of her chest.
And then, just as the person was about to close the space between her, a cold gush of wind brushed across Lilith's feet, causing her to fall to the ground, her head hitting the cold earth with full force, driving her to pass out right there.
She lay down on the floor in the cold darkness as the individual approached her, its hands seeking to grip her throat.
And then…
From the inky shadows of the street, another figure emerged, his cloak the colour of a moonless night, a garb that seemed to absorb the very light itself.
His eyes, dark and piercing, seemed to hold no warmth, no hint of humanity. They were eyes that could belong only to one who had forgotten what it meant to be alive.
The aura that surrounded this new figure was suffocating. It was as if winter itself had taken on a human form.
