ARLIES POV
It's been almost a week since the orb incident and things have pretty much gone back to normal, fortunately for us every corner of the library was soundproofed so no one knew what happened, and we were able to put the library back into shape before anyone noticed.
I was scared to death for days, anytime I saw Thane or Celeste I thought they found out about the incident and were coming to reprimand me because how could they not have been aware something so huge happened, they should've detected the energy that came from the library because that orb gave off alot of magical energy but thankfully it's all starting to go away now.
Speaking of Celeste, Thane scheduled fight training sessions for me with her, 3 times every week in addition to the punishment I was undergoing for fighting with Lyra, also in addition to the numerous activities of eleftheria.
Yhup, my last few days have been total hell and I've had no free time at all!!!
"From cleaning duties with Lyra which is pure torture to extreme training sessions, "according to thane, I have anger management issues....pfffttt!!!
It was time for our training session so I gradually walked into the underground arena of the school where I and Celeste have been having our frequent "training sessions"
The arena was massive, it had a circular chamber with a retractable dome that revealed a simulated sky that allowed depiction of various weather conditions and environments. The walls were made of a magical material called "swevet"
The material could shift colours to mimic different environments like jungles, deserts and the likes
At the center of the arena, there's a control tower where instructors monitor the mutants' progress,
They had gadgets that could simulate threats so students could face simulated but realistic combat scenarios, it's literally the biggest arena in eleftheria!
I stood in the middle of the Arena staring at Celeste who seemed to have been waiting for me, our eyes locked in a silence and the air was filled with tension, the only sound that could be heard was the distant occasional clanging of swords from other training sessions.
After ages of glaring at eachother, Celeste said
"Shall we?" and charged towards me with a kick which I was able to dodge
Suddenly, Celeste unleashed a blast of dark shadowy energy, which moved towards me like a whip. I raised my hand, and a shield of shimmering silver light erupted and deflected the attack. The force of the blow sent her stumbling back, but she recovered quickly,
Not bad, "Arlie" celeste said with a smirk that almost looked like she was saying "you're gonna get what's coming to you"
I retaliated by summoning a torrent of glittering silver needles that shot towards Celeste like a storm. Celeste raised her hands, and a vortex of darkness erupted and drew the needles in like a void.
We kept exchanging magical blows, our powers seemed to match each others, the force from the training was so strong that it seemed to shake the training grounds from the foundations.
As we fought, I felt my powers growing stronger, I felt more powerful and the sudden increment in power filled me with a strange kind of excitement.
I decided to try shooting the silver needles again this time stronger but Celeste dodged each blow with ease.
"You're a good and strong fighter Arlie ," Celeste said, "Just not a very smart one."
I snarled, and summoned a wave of ice shards. But Celeste dodged again, effortlessly.
"I've seen more impressive attacks from a child." Celeste taunted me
I was getting frustrated about how she was dodging all my attacks, not even one so far had hit her, I noticed her looking at my face, my body movement and my eyes.
It seemed she was more concentrated on my body movements than whatever blast I would unleash next, she wasn't even attacking, just dodging and trying to fuel my already growing rage.
"You're so consumed by your own anger, you can't even think straight." Celeste added
I unleashed another blast again, but Celeste dodged each attack with ease,
"Done yet?" Celeste asked, "You're exhausting yourself, Arlie. And for what? You can't even land a hit."
At this point my face was red with rage, I mean who wouldn't be annoyed, we've been training for almost an hour and I haven't been able to land a hit, her mocking comments were making things worse.
I decided to try one more time and my powers surged again, but Celeste was ready, she summoned a vortex of darkness that sucked my attack in neutralizing it.
I stumbled back, I couldn't catch my breath, my chest heaved with exhaustion.
Celeste stood before me, with a triumphant smile spreading across her face.
"Checkmate, Arlie," she began,
"You should have thought before you acted. Now, you're spent. And I'm just getting started."
