Chapter 28 - Disgusting cockroach

Aleyah sent her cell phone to Jeremy using a package. She couldn't deliver it directly and it would be more convenient if it could be done this way. Now, the package is being delivered by an online motorcycle taxi. The man was wearing a green jacket and he hesitated to step into the police station. The chaotic atmosphere in the office made him reluctant to raise his voice.

The police station was busy with a group of school children. They were the perpetrators of a brawl which some time ago disturbed order and damaged property. The police had difficulty keeping them calm because there were still several students who were still agitated.

The online motorcycle taxi driver entered with his trademark awkward gesture, trying to avoid the commotion by walking slowly near the wall. He approached a policeman who was sitting in front of a computer with red eyes and messy hair. "Excuse me sir... there's a package for Jeremy Morgan," he said, showing a small pink tote bag and a letter.

"Oh yeah, Jeremy is still in the restroom," said the policeman then took the letter from the online motorcycle taxi driver. But the taxi driver withdrew the letter in his hand again. "She said this letter can only be carried by Jeremy, I will wait until the person named Jeremy comes."

The policeman tightened his jaw, "How important is it, sir? It's better to just give it to me, don't you need to deliver another package?"

The online motorcycle taxi remained firm, he even politely explained to the police that the message sent by his customers must be carried out clearly. The police gave up and didn't push any more, he sat back down in front of the computer and fixed his eyes to watch several videos again.

Soon a man with a kind and friendly appearance came towards them. "Package, sir? Of whom?" Jeremy asked kindly to the online motorcycle taxi.

The taxi driver whispered, "From Aleyah," he said, then handed over the tote bag and letter. Jeremy looked at the letter in his hand and the taxi driver several times. He accepted the package and invited the taxi driver to leave.

Jeremy brought the package to a table near his friend who was still struggling with his computer. "You suddenly smiled. Who is that from?" His colleague asked curiously. "Your girlfriend?" he asked again.

Jeremy was not affected by his friend's teasing even though he was very happy to get packages and letters from Aleyah like this. He took out a cell phone box from inside the cell phone then continued to open the letter.

Jeremy's smile and happiness disappeared instantly. He brought back the contents of the letter from the beginning like someone who was astonished. His colleagues who were waiting for his answer also tensed because of his reaction. Jeremy immediately grabbed the cellphone box and took out its contents. He clearly knew that this cell phone belonged to Aleyah. He turned on the cell phone and waited for it to actually work.

"Call the team leader, quickly!" Jeremy said to his co-worker. "What is it?" his colleague asked, he even peeked at what Jeremy was doing on the cellphone that was in the package.

Jeremy started opening the gallery and immediately found what he was looking for. He got the videotape and portraits of the killer. That video was quite messy at first. Which only shows a road and an empty parking lot. And then it becomes a video of a fight between two adult men.

"Hey this is..." the policeman muttered to Jeremy with his eyes wide open.

Jeremy took the cellphone with him to his team leader's room. He needs to convey this important evidence to his superiors so that action can be taken immediately. The head of the investigation team cursed Aleyah even though the person was not there. "I know she knows something, she could get into trouble if she hid something like this."

Jeremy immediately diverted his team leader's nagging by asking what they should do with the cell phone.

"Call Interpol, it looks like he's not a citizen of this country." The investigation team leader ordered. Jeremy immediately carried out what his chairman ordered, meanwhile, a computer expert was called in to refine the video. The results they got were evidence in the form of a video of the murder and a portrait of the face of a man of foreign nationality.

Jeremy enters the room and proposes the idea of issuing a Red notice. Interpol will also help as much as possible and maybe this news will reach high-ranking state officials. A red notice is a request to law enforcement around the world to locate and temporarily arrest a person who is subject to extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.

He has light gray eyes, a square jaw with high cheekbones. The striking thing about the man's face was that he had many moles on his face. Honestly, his face is quite hard to forget, especially with that eye color.

Jeremy entered the criminal investigation agency headquarters room. He met his friend Luke, he conveyed the purpose of his visit in the hope that the case he was taking would become a priority. Without waiting long, Luke's entire team was mobilized to track down the owner of this unique face. Jeremy stood in front of dozens of people working on computers and a large screen the size of a wall.

There wasn't much they could find, the few CCTV cameras that worked in the small town where Jeremy worked had been damaged or sabotaged. Then they had the idea to look in some sidewalk or several minimarkets, that's where they found him, a man who bought cigarettes in a small minimarket.

The man chewed gum and looked up for a long look at the camera in the corner of the convenience store. He handed the cashier a bill without taking his eyes off the camera. They zoomed in on the screen until it was clear that the man was the one they were looking for.

Jeremy laughed crisply, "That son of a b, I know this man." He said after managing to remember the familiar face that was always close to Aleyah. As soon as he remembered about Aleyah he panicked, if the man knew Aleyah had taken the video of him, Aleyah would definitely be in danger. Jeremy put on his jacket while calling Aleyah's number. Jeremy was careless, Aleyah's cell phone was in his hand.

Michael, who was still looking at the camera in the corner of the minimarket, smiled broadly. "Did he see us?" asked a computer technician to Luke.

"It's impossible, this is a live recording, he couldn't just see us." Luke argued and then approached one of the computers that controlled the minimarket camera. Not long after Michael fixed his hat and left the minimarket, the camera they had sabotaged suddenly went broke. "Sir, the recording has disappeared and we lost signal."

"It seemed like he intended to do this to all the cameras in the city. He is not an ordinary person. Be careful, Jer," said Luke before Jeremy drove back to his small town.

Jeremy contacted his colleague and provided details of the man's residence. He drove at high speed on the wide and empty highway as if it belonged to him alone. After reporting the information to his colleague, Jeremy called Lucy's cell phone.

. . .

Lucy, who was busy snacking on popcorn and watching television loudly with Aleyah, didn't hear her cell phone ring. Smith, who was disturbed by the sound, grabbed the cell phone. He raised his eyebrows when he saw Jeremy's name there. Smith turned to check on his two daughters then he answered the phone without their knowledge.

"Lucy, is your sister home? Tell her not to leave the house, both of you. The man your sister is close to right now is a criminal, tell me if that man visits your sister or your house again—" Smith ended the call as quickly as possible. He turned off Lucy's cell phone and sat back in his chair as if nothing had happened. He didn't need to do anything, he just acted as a messenger and Michael's problem was none of his business.

Smith took over the television remote and changed the channel to a football game before news of the murders appeared. Lucy and Aleyah didn't protest or complain about it, because they also liked watching football matches. They spent time together until late.

Smith had fallen asleep in a sitting position while Lucy was also asleep in his arms. The living room was still dark with the television screen still brightly lit. Aleyah, who was sitting at the end of the sofa, woke up to the sound of a police car siren. She stared at the window and was reluctant to move to find out what was happening. Aleyah tightened the blanket and closed her eyes again, she was sure that the police would arrest whoever this cruel human without a heart was.

. . .

Tonight is Thursday night, the exact date on which the criminal will carry out his heinous act.

"Damn! How did they find me?!" Michael cursed as he hid behind the wall before the patrol car found him again.

He took off his face mask and inhaled the air greedily. He reached into his pocket for his gun. Then suddenly a flashlight was pointed at him, dazzling his eyes and he was found by several policemen. "Raise your hand!" Jeremy said while pointing the gun in front of him.

Michael raised his hands slowly. The gun he had been looking for fell to the ground. He was surrounded by five men, complete with weapons, and he knew that his life was over. "It's him, we found the right person." said Justin after making sure Michael's face matched the photo on his cellphone.

Michael raised his eyebrows in surprise, "What's going on here, officer?" He acted innocent. Jeremy explained that they would have him arrested. But Michael's focus was on Justin's cell phone, he could see himself being captured in action there. He just couldn't believe what he saw or believe that the police could catch him, especially this quickly.

"Don't move! I said don't move." Jeremy shouted angrily.

"Buddy, you're going to wake up the citizens," said Michael in a mocking tone. He lifted the toe of his shoe and stepped on the gun that had fallen. The object fired a bullet that hit one of the policemen in the leg. The police's attention was diverted and he immediately took cover behind a wall.

Jeremy fires a bullet at Michael and immediately chases the man before he disappears again. Michael kept running while holding his stomach, he could feel the bullet lodged there but that didn't slow his pace. Jeremy and several police cars are still chasing him.

The most important thing was to survive, to hell with that mission, his life was in danger. "Shit, shit, shit." he muttered when he felt pain in his stomach. He was illuminated by car lights again, surrounded from all directions again and this time he had no more tricks or tricks up his sleeve.

"Finally, you disgusting cockroach."
