It didn't take long for him to cook himself a meal over the fire, searing a steak and making potato stew in the pot. Focusing on something simple like this helped him calm his mind and absorb everything that happened today. The most shocking thing was finding out Iza considered him a friend. He wanted to ask what made him her friend, not that he didn't want to be her friend, but he couldn't help but be curious.
He was curious about his ability but only knew that it made things dark and made his Chi all nice to look at. Tomorrow, especially with the help of being more privileged, he might be able to get the help he needs to learn about it.
Charlotte got up and looked around to see if there was anything else worth exploring or a bed to sleep on. He found a bath ready for use when he examined the room behind the stairs. Charlotte checked around the room and found nobody who could have prepared the bath, so he could only assume that Haze had prepared this for himself after their fight. Too bad for him; he was gonna enjoy this thoroughly.
Charlotte came out of the bath, a new man, refreshed and ready to sleep. Heading upstairs, he found what looked like a small dojo. There were dummies and wooden weapons on stands—plenty of room to train and even a tiny ring. While lovely, he wasn't looking to train the rest of the day away. Especially since, from a window, he could see the sun setting.
Charlotte explored the last room downstairs, with a bed in one corner. A cabinet with different types of shirts and the other drawers showed more sets of clothes. That was interesting; the clothes were all very nice looking but also costly. It was not his usual cup of tea; he wasn't sure if he would ever wear them. The tunic he was wearing appeared to fix itself when It received damage and cleaned itself, so he might keep this on. Save the clothes for a special occasion.
A window was placed beside the bed, and he pulled the curtain down to avoid the sun hitting his eyes in the morning. There was a full-length mirror on one side, and he did decide to check himself out. With the tunic on, he didn't look that intimidating or like a fighter. He looked more like a disheveled prince or a servant. The tunic fit him quite nicely, but it didn't help, especially with his height and hair. It wasn't that long on the back anymore, but it covered his magenta eyes slightly.
Charlotte gave himself a thumbs-up before dropping onto the bed. At first, it was a bit soft, almost practically swallowing him. He freaked out, trying to get off, but the bed soon changed and seemed to change to his liking.
"Living bed...sure, fuck it." He didn't dwell on it long cause if he did, he would wonder if the entire house was alive. So he closed his eyes and covered himself with the blanket; it didn't take long for him to pass out.
His morning was quite hectic. At first, the bed didn't hold back in its efforts to wake him up. It first tried shaking him awake, and when that didn't work, it tossed him off. He ran out only to realize the sun hadn't yet risen; it had woken him up early, which was both frustrating and reliving. He went inside and made himself some breakfast, and by the time he was done eating and walking out, he could see the rest of the students heading to school.
Charlotte had gained popularity as people waved and said "hi" to him. Some tried to converse, but after a few words, they always left. He searched for Fang, but he must have left earlier than the rest cause even when he waited at the entrance, he never showed up.
Charlotte wanted to greet his new classmates, but when he opened the door and tried to walk, he fell into a giant hole instead of a floor. As everything went dark, he desperately tried to grab onto the wall. Why did they love pitfalls?
He was falling for a few seconds before everything opened up despite the issue of still falling. He seemed to be falling into a cavern. It was pretty spacious, and under the giant tree, he was about to land face-first into one of its gigantic roots.
Charlotte tried to brace for impact but went through the root. As the ground approached, he didn't know whether to be happy or freak out even more. They would slow down a few feet before hitting the ground. They came to a halt before dropping onto the ground and groaning.
"It's always rough the first time; how are you doing, Charlotte?" A gentle voice spoke. Charlotte looked up and saw a man grinning down at him. They had short silver hair and yellow eyes. He was present during the monthly competition, except he wore a robe and looked well-kept. He was covered in dirt and had a few bruises, and he wore a black shirt underneath his overalls.
"Like I want to throw up..." Charlotte got to his feet, and the man laughed, grabbed his hand, and excitedly shook it.
"You are funny. Well, welcome to your new class. I'm your teacher, and you can call me Johnny." He let go of Charlotte's hand and looked around at the expansive cavern. Some students were sitting about talking and chatting, and others were using their abilities and training. The ends of the cavern had paths, most likely leading deeper into the underground. Like being outside, the tree's roots gleamed and lit up the cavern quite nicely.
"It's nice to meet you, sir. If you don't mind, can I ask you for help?" Charlotte turned their gaze back to him, and Johnny seemed to be fiddling with something in his hand. He waves his hand for him to go ahead and keeps working on whatever he is messing with. "I'd like some help, uh...trying to find out what my ability is exactly?" Charlotte whispered that last part; he wanted to try and at least keep it secret that he knew nothing about it.
"Of course, aren't you crazy trying to fight without one? That's the kinda gusto I like!" Johnny yelled out, gaining the attention of a few. Before Charlotte could complain, A giant glass box was created around the two; it had runes carved into the side, and Johnny clapped his hands.
"First things first, how about you let me see your Chi? I wanna get a better look at it." He said excitedly as some spyglass formed in his hand, and he aimed it at Charlotte's face. Charlotte raised his hands to cover his face and spread his Chi into his hands.
"Hm, the good news is that I know exactly what kind of ability you have. Here is the extensive bad news, so take a seat." A chair sprouted from the glass floor and appeared behind Charlotte; he didn't get the chance to speak, so the chair moved, hit the back of his knees, and made him sit.
