"The Department of Mysteries?" Hermione cocked her head and looked at Andy with a puzzled expression, hoping that Andy would explain it to her.
Being a young witch barely in her second year, Hermione really didn't know much about the various departments of the Ministry of Magic.
"The Department of Mysteries is one of the departments of the Ministry of Magic."
Andy explained, "No one ever knows what the employees of the Department of Mysteries are doing, their tasks are top-level secret, and the employees who work there are known as Unspeakables."
At this point, Andy suddenly spread his hands, "As for more information ... unfortunately, I'm clueless too."
The young witch nodded with a confused face.
"I do know a bit."
Mrs Bagshot explained, "Wizards have never ceased their quest for more magical magic, and some have discovered that there is an innate magic force that manifests itself in a 'form' that is apparently difficult to comprehend, and often even dangerous..."
"And it is the job of the Unspeakables to study and experiment with these mysterious forces."
Andy raised an eyebrow.
To be honest, if it weren't for the fact that the job of an Unspeakable required the signing of secrecy magic, this job would be quite suitable for Andy.
A type of magic that existed innately, and was difficult to understand...?
If Andy were asked to express his views, this incomprehensible magic power would probably be something like time, space, fate, concepts, and so on; something that sounded high and mighty.
But according to the main tone of the Harry Potter world, meaning based on Dumbledore's words, this power is ... love!
Or perhaps 'love' is just one of those things.
The Department of Mysteries being the research unit of the Ministry of Magic, it was obvious that there could not be only one type of direction for their research. Moreover, Mrs Bagshot used words like 'these' when she was explaining.
Hermione asked bluntly, "Mrs Bagshot, what are those mysterious powers that you are talking about?"
"Well, there are a lot of them!"
Mrs Bagshot's hoarse voice slowly sounded, "Death, time, prophecy, space ... This world has so many unanswered questions that we may not be able to peek into even a fraction of a trillion after spending our entire lives on it."
Hermione glanced at Andy and teased, "Andy, it sounds like the Department of Mysteries does seem to suit you."
Heh!
Andy ignored Hermione and turned to ask a new question, "Ma'am, is there an even greater secret hidden underneath the Ministry of Magic?"
"Or to put it another way, is the location where the Ministry of Magic is located also an ancient magic relic?"
Mrs Bagshot looked intently at Andy, those cloudy eyes seemed to carry a hint of strangeness as she spoke, "I haven't seen a young wizard as perceptive as you for a long time."
Mrs Bagshot's words undoubtedly confirmed Andy's suspicions.
To be reasonable, Dumbledore was the wizard who stood at the ceiling of the magic world, but could he study magic in the fields of death, time, prophecy, and space?
Andy felt it was unlikely!
As for the ancient wizards ...
Andy couldn't speculate on their areas of strength, but if they couldn't break through the shackles of 'human', Andy didn't think anyone could touch these powers with a mortal body.
Gods?
Andy raised an eyebrow and pressed down these thoughts for the time being.
Although many suspicions and clues pointed to 'the history of the magic world has been artificially altered', these were still only Andy's speculations without the slightest evidence.
Without evidence, no amount of doubt could disprove the facts.
Andy continued to ask: "Ma'am, are those relics ... related to the gods?"
Mrs Bagshot glanced at Andy and did not directly answer Andy's question, "It's not just you, Andy. Many wizards have chased the traces of gods when they were young, even your Headmaster Albus Dumbledore."
"But they all gave up in the end!"
Andy and Hermione looked at each other at that.
Hermione followed up with a somewhat incredulous voice, "Gave up? Why did they give up?"
In Hermione's opinion, deciphering these hidden secrets was something that was both fun and meaningful at the same time.
Mrs Bagshot asked faintly, "What would you want to do if, one day, you saw the real God?"
Meet the real God?
Andy pondered and suddenly said, "Ma'am, I probably understand what you mean."
Hermione looked at Andy in confusion, "?"
"Hermione, if a person ... if a muggle sees a dragon depicted in a book, he will deem it majestic and powerful, and even become obsessed with it."
Andy smiled and asked, "But one day, he saw a real dragon, what do you think he would do?"
Andy didn't use 'human' as a metaphor, but directly used the word 'muggle'.
It wasn't that Andy looked down on muggles, but Andy remembered the way dragons were treated in the magic world - they were kept in captivity by wizards like pigs.
Especially that half-giant Hagrid.
He was obsessed with dragons, he even hatched a baby dragon himself and tried to be its mother.
Dragons really didn't have much standing in front of wizards.
In response to Andy's question, Hermione almost blurted out, "He would be terrified, and he would even get eaten by a dragon in one bite."
"Okay! Andy, I see what you mean."
"Gods may be synonymous with beauty and power in myths and legends, but those are really just human fantasies. They long for a god or goddess to help them when they encounter suffering."
"In other words, those are imaginary, fictional gods imagined by humans themselves."
"But the real gods might just be some beings that are more powerful and advanced than us."
Mrs Bagshot smiled faintly, "Little girl, you are also very perceptive."
"Thank you, Mrs Bagshot," Hermione responded hastily.
Andy deliberated for a moment and said, "Maybe the gods aren't quite as, well ... wonderful as we think they are? But I think I might not give up trying to find the gods."
"But I don't need them to grant me anything, I just want to prove that they once existed, and then study their life states and decipher the secrets of their powers."
Like deciphering the secrets of Voldemort.
Hermione nodded and said in a serious tone, "I don't need the gods to grant me anything either, but if I can prove that they once existed ... Andy, remember to count me in."
Andy glanced at Hermione and smiled.
Mrs Bagshot was a little surprised, she looked at Andy and asked, "Oh? Don't you want to get eternal life or strong power?"
She thought that Andy was looking for those because he wanted to get strong power like her nephew.
"Well ... of course I want to!"
Andy didn't hide it, because the purpose of all people trying to find the gods was roughly the same, power, eternal life, or to fulfil some kind of wish that couldn't be achieved with their own power.
"But I won't borrow the power of the gods."
