Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: When you encounter an enemy, use the killing curse

"No need to show mercy."

Andy hurriedly said, "I also want to test how much gap there is between my current level of spell casting and that of an adult wizard."

"Fine!"

Helen got up and said, "You play by yourself for a while, I'll go see how the potion is faring."

"I'll help you," Andy said.

Helen waved her hand, "It's just an ordinary potion, I'm already done with it, I don't need you to add mess to it."

"If you really wanted to help, why didn't you do it earlier?"

Andy: "..."

It's heartbreaking to say that only three days after returning home on holiday, Andy's position in the family has gone down a rank.

The speed of this change of heart is too fast!

After waiting for almost two hours, Helen walked out with a potion vial.

After putting the potion vial away, Helen eagerly looked at Andy, "Are you waiting impatiently? Come on!"

Following Helen outside the house, Andy walked to the side and stood.

Seeing that Helen didn't make much of a move, Andy couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and ask, "Don't you need to prepare a ring or something?"

"No need to fuss so much..."

Halfway through her sentence, Helen suddenly pulled out her wand and pointed it at Andy.

"Levicorpus!"

Andy only felt an irresistible force acting on his entire body, and his entire body turned upside down uncontrollably, hanging upside down in the air by the power of magic.

Andy: "..."

"Still need a ring? Who's going to prepare them for you when you're actually in a real battle?"

Helen waved her wand, placed Andy down, and said with a smug look on her face, "This magic is good, isn't it?"

"This spell was invented by Snape, and then it was learned by our Gryffindors, and we used it to teach Snape a hard lesson!"

Snape?

Andy showed a shocked expression on his face.

Listening to the meaning of Helen's sentence, could it be that Snape invented a new spell on his own when he was in school?

"He invented it when he was in school?" Andy asked.

"What's all the fuss about."

Helen waved her hand and said with a 'this is just a trivial matter' gesture, "Didn't I tell you, when we went to school, we were in the period when the Dark Lord's influence was at its peak. Which is unlike how you guys are now, with no pressure at all."

Andy was still a little shocked.

That was true, but Snape's talent for magic was amazing.

Inventing new spells on his own while still in school wasn't something just anyone could do.

From what Andy knew so far, only Dumbledore and Snape had unlocked this achievement.

Just...

How did Snape become like this now?

All day long, he only seemed to know how to get on Harry's bad side, and he seemed to be enjoying it, with a great sense of having achieved something that he had fought for all his life.

The corner of Andy's mouth twitched, and then he didn't think much of it.

"I'll start then!"

Andy took out his wand and started with his current strongest ranged magic, Fire-Making Spell.

"Incendio!"

The flames coalesced into a fiery eagle and swooped towards Helen, who just waved her wand and easily extinguished Andy's Fire-Making Spell.

"Stupefy!"

"Protego!"

Andy cast successive spells, but they were all easily countered by Helen with a flick of her wand. Just by casually standing there, she created great pressure on Andy.

It was indeed different!

Andy could feel that Helen's magic level was more than one level higher than his own.

Truly very strong!

Moreover, Helen basically didn't practice magic regularly, her current level of spell casting was, at best, a little stronger than when she graduated.

Or it could also be said that since the fall of Voldemort, the ordinary wizards in the magical world had already said goodbye to practising magic.

However, even for an adult wizard like Helen, who hadn't practised magic for nearly a decade, she could still overpower Andy - she didn't even attack, she just stood there, already giving Andy a feeling that he was unable to do anything.

"Hoo-"

Andy gasped.

During the process of casting the spell, Andy had been moving his position.

Seeing that the angle was right, Andy wanted to repeat his old trick.

"Accio stake!"

Under the effect of the magic, the stake slammed hard towards Helen's back.

But Helen just moved her position slightly and easily dodged the wooden stake attack.

As Helen waved her wand, the stake increased its speed and slammed straight towards Andy.

"Confringo!"

Boom!!!

With an explosion, the stake blasted apart.

"Okay, stop for a second!" Helen suddenly said.

"Huh?"

Andy froze, "I still have tricks that I haven't used, why are we suddenly stopping?"

Helen: "..."

What the bloody hell kind of tricks do you have? If you had a trick, you would have used it already.

Just like your Grandpa, you are dead set on retaining your pride.

"Andy, you're focusing too much on spell-casting techniques."

Helen said, "In a wizard battle, the spell-casting technique is important, but the suddenness of the spell-casting is also important."

"Your current level of magic just seems decent, well ... it's just very spectacular, it's still far from meeting the requirements for actual combat."

Hearing Helen's evaluation, Andy was not frustrated. After all, Andy had studied magic for less than half a year, and to be able to have this level of spell casting was already very good.

Helen continued, "Regular magic spells are actually very easy to resist, so... we sometimes just need a little bit of skill."

Saying that Helen raised her wand and pointed it at Andy.

"Stupefy!"

Andy stared and was about to dodge the spell like Helen did when he noticed that the magic beam was fired at his feet.

And just when Andy looked down for a split second, another magic beam struck, and Andy found himself hanging upside down in mid-air by Helen again.

"See?"

Helen said as she waved her wand to lower Andy down, "We're still just practising, keep in mind that there are some dark magic spells that even the Shield Charm can't resist."

"That's why in our time, students would pay more attention to the actual combat of magic, and we Gryffindors would often get together to practice duelling."

Andy nodded, "I roughly get it."

This was the difference in combat experience!

Moreover, just as Helen said, regular spells could be too easily resisted. The Shield Charm could defend against most magic spells, and some wizards with quick reflexes could even fend off magic spells by redirecting them off with their wands.

Andy suddenly envied Harry a little.

Harry belonged to that kind of wizard with excellent reflexes and eyesight, one could tell just by looking at his performance on the pitch.

No wonder he was the main character!

With Harry's reflexes and eyesight, with a little training, he would soon become a duelling master.

"So, how do I practice now?" Andy asked for advice.

"Practice how you practised before, you are doing well now."

Helen took her wand back, "Unless you want to participate in a dueling tournament, or become an Auror after graduation, you don't need to practice all of this on purpose."

"Aurors have specialized training in using killing curses when they encounter enemies in private."

"You build your foundation well, it's easy to learn these in the future!"
