Chapter 32 - 32.Not from our hospital ?

In the office of the Deputy Director of Neurosurgery, Zhao Ruobing sat before a stack of patient records, but she hadn't touched them for quite some time.

These were the records of several critical patients or those with unusual conditions. It was her habit to bring back such records to her office after ward rounds. After thorough consideration and study, she would then devise the patients' subsequent treatment plans. She felt that making decisions solely during ward rounds was somewhat hasty, at least for her, not cautious enough. Although she had been hailed as a genius doctor and had become a deputy director at a young age, she was well aware of her shortcomings. Compared to experienced senior doctors, she was still too young and lacked sufficient medical experience. Therefore, every decision she made had to be more cautious.

Normally, upon bringing back the records, she would immediately begin her analysis. But today, she couldn't calm her mind. Even during ward rounds, she felt her heart couldn't settle completely, which was why she brought back an unusually large number of records today.

Her mind was still on yesterday's surgery, thinking about the surgeon.

Early in the morning, she had called her intern, Xiaochen, asking him to investigate Ye Xiu's identity, but until now, Xiaochen hadn't given her any feedback.

She couldn't help but feel regretful about potentially missing such a talented individual.

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

"Come in," Zhao Ruobing said, shifting her gaze to the door.

"Dr. Zhao."

The door opened, and Xiaochen, his forehead glistening with sweat, stepped in quickly.

"How did it go?" Zhao Ruobing's eyes immediately revealed a hint of urgency upon seeing Xiaochen.

"Dr. Zhao, I've checked all the surgical departments, and there's no sign of that person. Moreover, none of those departments have recruited any top-notch experts like the one we encountered yesterday. They're just like our department, hiring only a few freshly graduated interns and residents," Xiaochen said, his tone tinged with helplessness. "Furthermore, I also specifically inquired with the HR department, and throughout the entire hospital, only the Medical Technology and Internal Medicine departments have recently recruited a few doctors. So... that person... is probably not affiliated with our hospital."

After speaking, Xiaochen lowered his head. He knew Zhao Ruobing would be disappointed. If possible, he didn't want to disappoint his immediate superior either. He also hoped to find that brilliant individual from yesterday; his extraordinary medical skills had left an impression on him as well.

But the reality was as such. Despite searching through all the surgical departments, that individual was not a member of their hospital. In fact, he had anticipated this outcome even when he went to search in the morning. Considering the extraordinary skills demonstrated by the individual yesterday, any major hospital would have been eager to recruit him. How could he possibly end up in their suburban hospital? Still, out of respect for Zhao Ruobing's instructions, he diligently conducted the search.

"Not from our hospital?" Zhao Ruobing's face betrayed a hint of disappointment. The eager anticipation she had harbored since last night suddenly dissipated. If that person wasn't affiliated with their hospital, it meant that her chances of encountering him again, of witnessing his surgeries, were slim to none. Moreover, how would she even begin to search for him in a country as vast as Huaxia? He might not even be a doctor in Huaxia to begin with.

Zhao Ruobing, oh Zhao Ruobing, encountering such a genius yesterday had made her keenly aware of her mediocrity in medicine. It was already a great stroke of luck to have witnessed his skills once. How could she possibly hope for more?

Moreover, even if they did find him, then what? Would she really seek him out to become her mentor, to learn from him?

After the initial disappointment, Zhao Ruobing suddenly felt calm. She realized that she had been too forceful since last night.

Once she calmed down, her expression returned to its usual indifference. "Understood."

"Dr. Zhao..."

Xiaochen wanted to say something, but Zhao Ruobing interrupted him.

"Have you prepared the treatment plans for the patients in Room 7?" Zhao Ruobing's face regained its cold, emotionless demeanor, and her tone reverted to its usual detached state.

"I'll do it right away!" Xiaochen's expression changed immediately, and beads of sweat reappeared on his forehead.

Although he had spent a long time with Zhao Ruobing and understood that she was actually warm-hearted despite her cold exterior, he still couldn't bear the pressure emanating from her when it came to work-related matters.

Even though he had already become accustomed to Zhao Ruobing's personality over time, he still found it difficult to handle the pressure she exuded.

After speaking, Xiaochen hurried towards the door, ready to return to his duties.

But after a few steps, he suddenly remembered something and turned back to Zhao Ruobing. "Dr. Zhao, there are some journalists outside. They want to interview you. What should I do?"

"Journalists?" Zhao Ruobing frowned.

"It seems to be related to yesterday's surgery. It seems that the family members of the injured and the traffic police want to publicize it... So, those journalists want to interview you about your deeds..."

Xiaochen cautiously explained.

"Tell them to leave immediately. Tell them I won't accept any interviews," Zhao Ruobing said decisively.

"And also, tell them to leave the hospital premises immediately. This is a place for treating patients, not for disrupting normal operations."

"Yes, I'll go and inform them right away!" Xiaochen also knew Zhao Ruobing's character. Her response was within his expectations, so he didn't say anything more and quickly left the office.

Watching Xiaochen leave and closing the office door, Zhao Ruobing took a deep breath and lowered her head, picking up the patient records on her desk to begin her meticulous study once again.
