Chapter 26 - Massacring the entire cannibal village

"Okay, first, I will deal with the level 1 zombie leader here. Later, I will take care of these remaining cannibals," Kael murmured as he started searching for the zombie leader using his mini scanner.

"These vibrations... There is something very huge moving down below," Kael kneeled on the ground and placed his left ear on the earth.

Du... du...

The vibrations started to grow stronger. "Shit, it's coming out."

Kael used his legs to push his body aside and dodged the incoming attack.

Boom...

A huge worm, its mouth filled with sharp fangs, capable of grinding boulders into fine powder within a few seconds, emerged from the earth.

"Wow, a weird-looking worm indeed," Kael summoned the sword and jumped on top of the tree.

Swoosh...

Creak... grind...

"Fuck you!" Kael somersaulted in the air and pierced the sword into its body, using his body weight to force the sword down. The worm was cut into two pieces, its blue fluid mixing with its internal organs scattered all over the ground, and Kael also drenched in it. He smelled his body and nearly puked up everything he had eaten that day.

"Why does this thing smell like shit?" Kael murmured while removing the fluid and worm's body parts from his body.

He searched for a water source and soon found a small flowing body of water. There, he cleaned himself thoroughly and donned new clothes before returning to the place where he fought the cannibals.

Using his sharp senses, he began to track the path the cannibals had taken. He examined the footprints and the scent left on the leaves, slowly following them while completely concentrating on his senses.

It didn't take long for him to reach his destination. He caught a strong scent of blood, a very strong metallic smell. Following the scent, he was taken aback to see a village in the woods, with bones dangling from ropes tethered to trees, houses, and wooden poles.

In the center, there was a huge pot filled with different types of body parts, and the entire village appeared empty. "Where the hell did these lunatic cannibals go?"

Kael took out a mini scanner. "Scan for life signs."

"30 life signs found."

"Oh, found you bastards," Kael muttered, following the direction indicated on the mini scanner. Within minutes, he reached an open area with a huge stone platform, surrounded by a crowd. On the platform lay three headless corpses, with only one woman left. A butcher, holding a huge sharp cleaver, raised his hands, preparing to sever her head.

" Mmm….mmm…"

The young lady tried her best to free herself, but she couldn't, as she was bound with sturdy ropes and had no energy left in her body.

"Huff... ha... huff..."

He took a deep breath, and a baseball bat appeared in Kael's hand. He hurled it at the butcher with all the strength concentrated in his arms.

Swoosh...

Bang...

The butcher's face shattered into pieces, blood mixing with brain matter as it scattered all over the ground. The sharp cleaver flew up and slowly fell beside the young lady's face. She widened her eyes and dragged her body to create some distance between her face and the sharp blade.

"Snap."

The baseball bat disappeared from where it fell and reappeared in his hand.

"Now... who wants to die first?" Kael asked, playing with the baseball bat as he spun it in the air.

"Outsider, you better leave if you value your life," shouted a middle-aged man with a stern gaze.

"Don't you have an ounce of remorse? How can you all eat human flesh?" Kael asked, his face showing disgust.

"Haha, outsider, don't you feel any pity towards sheep, goats, pigs, cows that you eat in your daily life? You don't pity them, right? Same goes for humans. We eat them, and we don't have any remorse for eating them," said the middle-aged man, laughing boisterously, followed by everyone in that place.

"Haha..."

*****

"You and your shitty logic. How can you equate animals with humans like Americans do? They claim dogs are their family members, but when faced with a crisis like an apocalypse, they'd be the first to eat their own dogs to survive. In the end, animals are animals, and humans are humans. Keep that shitty logic to yourself. Now, you all can join that butcher. I'm sure he's feeling lonely," said Kael, tightening his grip on the baseball bat as he moved toward the crowd at lightning speed.

Before they could react to the incoming attack, Kael had already slipped into the crowd and started breaking their heads. With each strike, he shattered a head, drenching the earth in blood mixed with brain matter, and leaving headless corpses falling to the ground.

"Ah..."

The cannibals panicked, wanting to run away, but he chased and killed every last one. The young lady, who was tied up on the platform, lost consciousness after witnessing the massacre.

Kael sat atop the small hill of corpses, his body drenched in blood, drops falling from his chin. In that moment, his appearance resembled more a demon from hell than a human.

Silence filled the place, only his slow breathing sound echoing throughout.

"Huff... ha... huff..."

He stood up, jumped down from the hill of corpses, and retrieved a petrol can, pouring the liquid all over the bodies. He lit a match and threw it onto the corpses.

As fire rose behind him, he slowly walked towards the stone platform. Upon reaching it, he approached the young lady, sitting beside her. He extended his hand and gently slapped her cheeks.

"Hey, are you still alive? If so, wake up," Kael asked, gazing at her flawless face.

"Hmm... mmm..."

She slowly regained consciousness and woke up from her unconscious state.

"Hmm... mmm..."

"Oh, you want to say something? Wait, let me get that piece of cloth out of your mouth," Kael reached out to remove the cloth from her mouth.

"Ahh... Demon..." She shouted, panic evident on her face.

Kael put the cloth back into her mouth and said with an annoyed expression, "Why are you so noisy?"

" Hmm….mmm…."
