Chapter 23 - These kids looks so tender

Faraaz panicked and fell on his butt.

Kael turned to look at Faraaz and said, "Bro, you don't have to panic. I'm not some narrow-minded guy. If you want to become my subordinate, I will gladly accept you," his tone became stern, "but you have to decide before we finish eating. If you're late, then we'll never meet again."

The moment Kael finished speaking, he continued preparing meat and rice.

Faraaz looked at the kids who were eating greedily and gulped down his saliva.

After battling with himself inwardly for a few minutes, he tightened his fist and moved closer to Kael. He knelt in front of him and said, "Sir, please... Please accept me as your subordinate."

"Haha, welcome to the family. Come on, eat to your heart's content," Kael said while laughing boisterously.

But at the same time, Kael's heart was bleeding. He had spent as many as 100 points for their single meal.

He shook his head and asked, "System, if I turn them into my subordinates, then the points earned by them will be added to me, right?"

[Yes]

"What are the requirements I have to meet to add them as my subordinates?"

[You have to equip the level 2 zombie leader title and reach a minimum of 15 stat points in every category.]

"Oh, it's okay. They are still kids. It will take a long time for me to train them into warriors," Kael murmured inwardly.

"Okay, everyone, do you like the meals?" asked Kael.

"Yes," all the kids said in unison, with contented smiles on their faces.

"Good. Rita, Sita, you take them to our building. I have a few matters to take care of. I'll join you soon," said Kael with a stern gaze on his face.

"Okay, Sir Variant," the young ladies nodded their heads and signaled for the kids to follow them.

"Sigh, I actually don't want to be the bad guy, but these guys want me to be a bad guy very badly," Kael murmured with an annoyed look on his face as he moved towards the gazes watching him.

There are four middle-aged men and two young men hiding in a blind spot, watching in Kael's direction.

"William, big bro, where did that guy go? Why can't I see him?"

"Oliver, I also can't see him."

"Hey, are you all looking for me?" asked Kael with a gentle smile on his face, a smile they would remember at their final moment.

"Shit, attack!" shouted William and took out a dagger from his clothes, lunging at Kael.

"Hmm, I thought you guys would have handmade guns with you. What a disappointment," Kael mocked them, moving at lightning speed to appear in front of William. He extended his hand to hold William's face, then smashed him to the ground.

Crack….

Blood and brain matter covered his hand. "Oh, did I overuse my strength? Hmm, don't I still have you guys? I use you to practice controlling my strength. If you survive, I'll spare your lives," said Kael with a maniacal smile on his face.

"D-d-demon, run!" The remaining three wanted to flee, but how could they be faster than him?

Crack...

Crack...

"Oh, you're still alive? Did I learn to control my strength already?"

Crack...

Headless corpses littered the ground, drenched in blood and brain matter. "Ha, everyone can easily say that I murdered someone if I go out with my current appearance. They were weak, so they're dead. Who will stand up for their pathetic deaths in this apocalyptic world?" Kael murmured inwardly, a sinister smile on his face.

Kael jumped onto the building and moved towards the entrance.

Meanwhile...

Two men lurked in the shadows.

"James, these kids look so tender," said Henry.

"Haha, those two women look even more tender to me," said James, drool sliding down from the corners of his mouth.

"Yeah, let's eat that tender meat and let those women warm our beds for tonight," responded Henry, a sinister look on his face.

*****

"Sis Rita, Sita, are you both subordinates to Boss Kael?" asked Siri with a curious look on her face.

"Yes," the young ladies nodded their heads, feigning smiles.

Every time they remembered that bloody scene, sweat beads formed on their foreheads.

"Today's weather is so hot."

"Yeah, haha."

The young ladies both raised their hands to wipe the sweat from their foreheads, with awkward smiles.

A little girl raised her head to look at the sky. It was cloudy. She turned to look at them with a confused expression but didn't say anything.

Two men stood in the middle of the road.

The young ladies frowned and signaled for the kids to move away from them as they walked past.

One of the men turned towards the group and shouted, "Hey, wait!"

The young ladies turned back and asked warily, "Who are you? What do you want?"

"We? We're just passersby. Actually, we're recruiting survivors for our shelter. Why don't you all join?" asked Henry, licking his lips.

"No, we're not interested," said Rita, with a stern gaze.

"Not interested? Why don't you consider our offer again?" asked James, with a fierce look on his face.

Rita wanted to retort, but she was stopped by Sita. "Okay, we will join your shelter. Please, lead the way."

Sita signaled with her eyes to look at the knife and dagger hidden in their clothes. Unlike Rita, she is more experienced in handling these kinds of people.

The moment Rita caught sight of the knife and dagger, she became silent and obediently followed them.

Unlike the other kids, Siri became more mature and smart after interacting with Kael. "There is no way these fools can beat Boss Kael," thought the little girl, leaving tracks behind with her legs as she moved forward.

After a few minutes, Kael reached the path used by the young ladies and kids. "Why didn't they wait for me and keep traveling?"

"Hmm? Are these crudely drawn arrow marks tracks left behind by one of the kids?" Kael looked at the tracks with a weird expression on his face.

There were no zombies close to the New Dawn colony, so he asked them to go ahead. But after traveling this distance, there would be zombies ahead of them.

Bang... Bang...

He heard the gunshots. "Not good. Looks like they are in danger."

Swoosh...

Kael moved at lightning speed, using all the strength in his body at his legs.
