Chereads / I Can Evolve My Skills / Chapter 6 - 6.

Chapter 6 - 6.

"Today's class is all about the trials and the monsters that you all are going to face."

Standing in the middle of the lush green grassland inside the domain, surrounded by the students, Ellina spoke softly.

"I will summon a projection of one of the monsters that you all are going to face in the trial, so anyone that has some experience in combat can come forward to show how it's done."

As soon as Ellina spoke, many students had their eyes lit up. They still remember what Ellina said yesterday about ranking students on their merits. In their eyes, everything from this point on was important, no matter how trivial it might seem.

Looking at their eagerness and excitement, Ellina just let out a chuckle.

"Before we start... Does anyone have any doubts or questions?"

As soon as she spoke, the students fell into deep thinking. It wasn't until a few more moments passed that one of the girls slowly raised her hand.

"I want to ask why my friend has an attribute called 'mana' while I don't?"

As soon as she asked the question, Eldric too raised his ears. He too thought about it but didn't think it was important for him. After all, he wasn't a mage, so mana was of no use to him.

"Hmm..." Nodding her head, Ellina looked around before explaining softly.

"You all already know that professions are divided into a rarity.

There are ordinary professions like mage, warrior, archer, brawler, assassin, priest, etc... And then there are rare professions like Knight, Berserker and so on.

Then there are epic professions and above."

"The thing is..." With a short pause, she continued, "Only some ordinary professions are unable to use mana.

Every Rare and above profession in existence can use mana freely.

So if any of you guys are missing mana, then it is because of your ordinary profession."

It was a simple but direct explanation. Eldric too didn't think too much about it. It didn't matter to him whether he could use mana or not.

His strength was solely based on his raw strength, not mana.

One by one, many students began to ask questions. Some asked about the limits of skills, some about other things and Ellina explained them patiently.

There was even a boy wanting to know more about evolution, but Ellina just smiled silently at his question before telling him to wait till the sixth day.

Eldric too thought for a moment before raising his hand and asking slowly.

"Is there any other way to obtain Tokens other than selling items in the auction?"

As soon as Eldric asked this question, the entire crowd went silent with many gazes landing on him.

Yes... Just like Eldric asked, they too wanted to know about it. After all, they too had seen the numerous precious items in the auction. It would be a lie to say that they weren't tempted. Especially those with poor backgrounds like himself.

"Heh..." Ellina was startled by this question, but after looking at the boy who asked this question, she let out a chuckle.

"Well, at the moment, there is no way for you to do it."

With a slight pause, she added further.

"There is something called missions and bounties that will only unlock after you have passed the trials and gone through your first evolution.

But till then, there is nothing you can do. Also, the tokens can not be gifted or transferred, they can only be given out as rewards."

Listening to Ellina, Eldric just nodded in understanding. Though he still wanted to know more, he knew the woman in front of him wasn't going to explain it to him.

"Well, guess I need to complete these trials." Looking at the shiny '+' behind the skill, Eldric had a constant itch in his heart. If possible, he wanted to evolve it as fast as possible, but unfortunately at this moment, this wasn't possible.

After Eldric, a lot of other students asked questions too, but most of the questions were simply ignored by Ellina.

It wasn't until almost an hour passed, that she clapped and stopped everyone from talking.

"Now then..." Raising her hand, she pointed in front of her, and the moment she did, a medium-sized bear suddenly appeared from thin air.

"This is one of the creatures that you are going to face in the trial.

So... For the next five days, get familiar with it. Remember its attack patterns and try to find its weaknesses by yourself."

Speaking till here, she added further.

"The first five to defeat it will receive rewards from me as well as a chance to join Valoria University.

So, good luck."

With a smile, she walked away from the crowd before disappearing completely.

As soon as she disappeared, numerous bears suddenly appeared out of thin air, scattered throughout the grasslands

Everyone was silently looking at the bears around them, waiting for someone to make the first move.

And sure enough, it didn't take long before someone jumped towards the first bear in their sight with a long sword.

.

.

.

It didn't take long before everyone was fighting against the bear in front of them, using all their strength and skill at their disposal.

Some were fighting cautiously, observing every move of the bear. There were many hot-blooded too who just jumped at the bear, completely disregarding their defense, hoping to kill it as fast as possible to get the rewards.

Eldric on the other hand was one of the few who just stayed in their place with no intention of going against the bear.

He just kept on looking at the nearest boy in front of him who was fighting the bear with a sword.

The boy would carefully move around while holding the sword in front of him with both hands. He would then occasionally slash at the bear, leaving some small wounds. But to his surprise, the bear would only defend without any intention of attacking.

It didn't take long before he left numerous large and small wounds on the bear and just when he was beginning to get a bit relaxed and excited, the bear in front of him which was only defending suddenly slashed its paws toward the boy's neck, leaving an afterimage.

The bear's action was so fast that the boy didn't even have the time to react. Hastily covering his throat with a terrified expression, he dropped his sword.

But to both his and Eldric's surprise, he was completely fine. Though the bear slashed his throat, it didn't cause any damage to him.

Looking at this scene, Eldric narrowed his eyes. If the bear can not injure you, then sooner or later everyone will be able to kill it, by completely disregarding their defense.

"What's the point of it?"

Eldric didn't think the test was this easy. After all, if everyone fought like this, then what even was the point of the test and the five days given to them?

The more he thought about it, the more confused he got.

And just when he was wondering about it, he finally saw a scene in front of him which answered his question.

The bear which was riddled with many cuts a moment ago was now healed completely. It was as if, the other party was never injured to begin with.

Not only Eldric but many people at this moment were stunned as they slowly began to understand what was happening.

First of all, it was extremely difficult to harm the bear, and only when they caused enough damage would the bear attack them.

And once the bear hits them, it will completely heal, restarting the entire process.

"No wonder she gave five days for this."

Letting out a sigh in amazement, Eldric marveled at the magical methods displayed by the people of this world.

Time passed and everyone was slowly getting used to the fight in front of them. Some were tired and taking a rest while the others were simply observing the bear without making any moves.

And then there were people like Eldric who had no intention of going against the bears and were just staying in the back silently.

Soon it was evening and everyone was walking back toward their rooms silently. None of them were able to kill the bear today no matter what their professions were. Though those with rare and epic professions were able to harm the bear much easier compared to those with normal professions, they were still unable to kill it.

Reaching home, Eldric changed his clothes before lying on the bed. It would be a lie to say that he didn't want to make a move against the bear. But thinking about how his skills have evolved, he refrained from doing it.

He was still a newcomer in this world who knew nothing about it. So, being a bit cautious was much better than flinging your arms aimlessly, just for momentarily clout.

"Do you need help?"

While Eldric was lost in his train of thoughts, a familiar sound echoed beside him.

"Where were you?" Looking at the floating girl in the air wearing the pink princess dress, Eldric let out a sigh.

"Sleeping." The girl answered briefly, ignoring Eldric's concern.

"And how are you going to help me?" With a trace of expectation, Eldric asked. He still didn't know who the girl was and what she was capable of doing.

But in his mind, even a bit of help from her could greatly alter his life.

"Err... Let me think." Scratching her chin with her finger, she thought for a moment before a smile ran across her face.

"How about I cheer you? Surely you would be motivated enough to work hard?"

But before she could even finish her sentence with a smirk, she suddenly saw a pillow flying towards her before passing through her illusory body.

"Get out of here." Annoyed, Eldric turned around before closing his eyes. He was a fool to even take this girl seriously.

Ignoring her puffed-up cheeks filled with anger, he closed his eyes, slowly drifting into sleep.

"Hmph! Good guy. Since you have no respect for me, I am not going to help you. Let's see how you clear this damn trial."

With a snort, her figure disappeared completely, leaving behind Eldric who was now dead asleep in his bed.

Five more days passed in the blink of an eye and today was the sixth day.

Standing on the green grassland, Ellina looked at the students in front of her who had changed drastically within a few days before nodding in satisfaction. Other than a few odd balls, the temperament of everyone preset had changed a lot.

After fighting tirelessly, all of them have a calm expression on their face as if they have experienced a hundred battles.

"Today is the last day of this class. Because two people have already defeated the bear yesterday, there are only three more remaining spots for the prize.

So, the first three people to defeat the bear in the next six hours will receive this reward. And if no one can do so, then..."

She didn't complete the sentence, but everyone knew what she meant.

Closing her eyes, she set up a timer before sitting on a wooden chair beside her, waiting for six hours to pass.
