Waking up in the morning, Eldric didn't immediately get up from his bed but kept on looking at the ceiling in silence.
Thinking about the last night, he couldn't help but let out a grunt.
Compared to the 'Ordinary' mode, the hard mode was much more difficult. Compared to the easy-going beasts from the 'Ordinary' difficulty, the beasts in Hard difficulty were quite aggressive.
As soon as Eldric stepped within half a meter of their radius, they would immediately attack him.
Though, once he walked for a while, they would go back to their initial position.
This was the only thing that made his hunting a bit easier.
As usual, he would activate his skill and before the beast could even attack him, he would punch it to death. He kept on doing this till every lizard-like creature disappeared from there.
Narrowing his eyes, Edric looked at his score.
[Red: 600 Points]
After killing more than a hundred beasts, he exited the trial and went to sleep.
.
.
Waking up the next morning, the first thought that came to his mind was...
"Tomorrow is the deadline." Thinking about how they needed to complete the trials if they wanted to join any university, Eldric didn't seem to be in a hurry.
Putting on his clothes, he walked out of the house and made his way towards the food court. After hunting non-stop for so long, he was pretty hungry.
.
.
.
.
"Hurry up or we are going to be late."
"Coming... Wait."
On his way to the court, Eldric saw many people rushing forward in a hurry. He tried to grab one person to ask, but the moment he tried, the other person just cursed him before running away.
Helplessly, Eldric could only follow suit. He too wanted to see why everyone seemed too eager and impatient.
It didn't take long before he soon reached the court, but compared to the other days, today seemed particularly crowded.
Even without counting, he could tell that there were more than fifty people present there. A number that was usually difficult to find in the morning.
And just when he was wondering what was going on, he heard someone coughing.
"Ahem..." It was a small sound, but it made the entire crowd silent.
Peeking from the back, Eldric tried to look and soon saw a boy around his age sitting there quietly in the middle of the hall with a cup of tea placed in front of him.
There was a constant smile on his face as he kept on nodding towards the girls.
"Who is this guy?" It was at this moment that Eldric caught the nearest person before asking him the question.
"Eh!?" The boy looked at Eldric like he was looking at a clown. "Don't you know him? He is Lavenric, one of the ten people who awakened epic profession."
As soon as he spoke, Eldric narrowed his eyes. Though he had seen the people with epic profession using their skills in practice against the bear, he still didn't know how big the difference between him and them was.
"Then what is he doing here?" Suppressing his distracting thoughts, Edric asked. Even if the other person was someone with an epic profession, there was no need for so many people to gather here. Especially when everyone is still in the middle of their trials.
The more he thought about it, the more it didn't make any sense to him.
In the end, he could only look at the boy beside him, hoping to gain an answer.
And sure enough, the boy didn't disappoint him.
"It's because he has completed the trial and is here to give us some guidance."
As soon as he spoke, Eldric narrowed his eyes. He too had the chance to complete the trial, but he just simply ignored it to earn more tokens.
Now looking at the boy in front of him, he was silent... Waiting for him to speak.
.
.
Lavenric kept on sipping the tea leisurely without any intention of speaking.
It wasn't until a few more minutes passed and he finished his tea did he looked at everyone present with a smile.
"I guess you all are here to know more about the trials."
With a brief pause, he spoke further. "There are only a few things that you need to know. The rest... You already know."
"Many of you already know this, but you can form a team of four.
I would suggest you do that. Hunting with a team is much better than hunting alone.
Although your points will be divided equally, you will still gain more points compared to when you are alone."
Not only Eldric but also the others sitting there seemed to be in deep thought after listening to him...
Lavenric just smiled before speaking further.
"The points inside the tower are extremely precious. Even more precious than the tokens.
Those points will be used for the evolution, so try to earn as many as possible."
"Now, remember the most important rule of this trial and that is... to not give up the trial halfway.
If you do so, then all your points will reset."
Lavenric then added further "But if you have completed every mission of the trial, then you can keep those points."
Eldric who was furrowing a moment ago after listening to how the points would be wiped out relaxed his brows after listening to the second half.
"The best strategy is to form a team, complete the mission in the 'Ordinary' difficulty, and then move to the 'Hard' difficulty before going to evolution.
Remember not to go through the evolution in the 'Ordinary' difficulty trial.
If possible, select the 'Hell' difficulty, sacrifice your teammates, and try to reach the top floor to go through evolution.
Because, the greater the difficulty, the better the evolution will be."
Listening to him, Eldric was surprised for s moment. After all, he wasn't doing it for the points, but for tokens.
But for Lavenric to come up with this strategy meant that someone was already guiding him. After all, it was impossible to know so many things just after one day.
"But if we want maximum rewards, then why not go to the 'Nightmare' difficulty?"
It was a frail-looking boy who asked this question. But as soon as he asked it, many present in the crowd looked at him like they were looking at an idiot.
"Because the nightmare difficulty is locked and can not be entered unless you complete every mission on hard difficulty."
Lavenric didn't laugh at him but explained with patience.
"Tomorrow is the last day given to us by the principal.
If anyone is unable to complete the trial, then they can forget about joining any University.
So to get into a prestigious university, be sure to complete the trial tomorrow. Just do as I said and you all will be fine."
With these words, Lavenric stood up, patted his clothes, and walked away from there.
Eldric wanted to stop him and ask about the process of evolution. But he was sure that many beside him had already asked about it.
Since Lavenric didn't want to speak about it, then there must be a reason. Or perhaps even this small meeting was due to the principal guiding them through Lavenric.
Perhaps this guy didn't even want to come here, much less explain things to them.
And just like Eldric thought, this was the case. If not for Principal Garric asking Lavenric to guide them, he would have never wasted his precious time on useless people who couldn't even complete the first trial.
After Lavenric's departure, the food court plunged into silence for a while before people started talking to each other. It wasn't long before people were already asking each other to form a team to challenge the trials.
Till now, many of them believed in themselves, but after making little to no progress throughout the night, and after listening to Lavenric, they began to consider the option of forming a party.
Even if the points were divided equally, it was at least much better than gaining a pitiful number of points and failing the trials.
Even Eldric, who was having his breakfast peacefully was approached by a few. But after seeing him showing no interest, they left him alone, searching for someone suitable.
.
.
.
It didn't take long before Eldric finished his breakfast, packed some food, and walked back to his room.
Once inside, he didn't waste any time and resumed the trial on the second floor of the 'Hard' difficulty.
Just like the previous floor, Eldric found himself in the grassland but instead of giant Lizards, he found numerous crocodiles sleeping there.
The scene of this many crocodiles crawling was enough to make anyone's skin crawl. Much less Eldric who was still rather young.
"Damn it." Clenching his fists, he suppressed the fear in his heart. He had killed so many beasts before. The thing in front of him was nothing much.
With this thought in mind, Eldric silently walked behind the crocodile before activating his skill 'Blitz Assault' and punching it in the head.
"BOOOM."
There was no surprise to the outcome. With the skill that has already evolved two times, killing the crocodile was a piece of cake.
"Well..." This punch not only dispersed the fear from his heart but also made him aware of his strength once again.
With a face full of confidence, Eldric looked at the crocodiles with a smile before starting his mission of eliminating one hundred of them.
.
.
.
.
The day passed in the blink of an eye and by the time it was evening, Eldric was already standing in front of a golden gate on the fifth floor of the Trial Tower.
Just like the 'Ordinary' difficulty, he didn't find it hard. After he wiped out a hundred crocodiles on the second floor, he was greeted by wild boars on the third floor.
On the fourth floor, he fought against ostriches, one of whom almost kicked him to death, ending his trial.
And at the final fifth floor, Eldric was greeted by Giant Bisons which were twice the size of Ox that he fought when he first entered the trials.
Without his skill, Eldric wasn't even able to harm even one of them, much less kill.
Thankfully, with the help of his skill, this impossible task was somehow completed.
Eldric didn't step into the golden portal but chose to give up the trial. And the next moment he found himself back in an open space with the option of choosing difficulty.
However, Eldric wasn't in a hurry to start the next difficulty but chose to exit and looked at the panel in front of him.
[Name: Eldric Stormborne]
[Profession: Brawler]
[Vitality: 1]
[Power: 1]
[Agility: 1]
[Skills: Blitz Assault] +
For a while, he lamented the fact that other than his skill changing, there weren't any other changes in it. If this world functioned just as games, then by now, he would have leveled up a lot and improved his attributes.
Unfortunately, this was not the case.
Shaking his head with a helpless sigh, he looked at the Trial menu first.
[Red: 1000 Points]
After glancing at his points, he then looked at his tokens.
[Tokens: 48]
"Finally." Thinking about how he only needed thirty-four tokens to evolve his skill to the next level, Eldric couldn't help but look forward to it.
With a heart filled with excitement, he opened the auction and finally purchased the two materials needed to evolve his skills.
