Allie didn't think twice about throwing the gift and the box into her trashcan.
"He is so annoying," she thought.
She paid little attention to it and moved on with her work. It was a long day, and there were many adjustments to make with their software prototypes. Her team needed everything to be perfect before Friday for the presentation.
This occupied Allie for the next couple of days. She hadn't seen Evan much during the day because of work, but they had dinner together every night.
On Thursday, they were surprised when Esme paid them a visit without prior notice.
It was an awkward dinner, though. Esme suddenly brought up her trusted OB-GYN because she wanted Allie to get checked to see if she was healthy enough to nurture babies in her womb. It was a pain in the ass for Allie, and what was worse, Esme's devil of a son seemed to be enjoying her misery.
In the end, she was relieved when he ended the topic himself.
