It was morning already when the festival ended, that adults were either busy cleaning up the aftereffects of such boisterous occasion or were pass out drunk on the streets, there were also some adults who ehem did it that night.
How do I know? I now hear almost everything that is happening in this entire village, even the ones that I really shouldn't, but what can I do? I have no other choice.
"Then mom, dad, we're leaving" Tony spoke with vigor, finally glad that he took another step into becoming the main character.
"Take care! Make sure to at least send us some letters and news about you if you have time!" Tony's mom made him wear a necklace that she made with her heartfelt affection, then gave him a light kiss on the cheeks.
"Make sure to make your old man proud" On the other hand his proud father just patted him at the back.
And it looks like underling number three and two didn't need to say their farewells anymore, they've already done that at their home, so their parents just gave them a sendoff.
I did not know the other two kids that were chosen, not even their names, and the same went for the other two kids that were chosen in the stead of Ada and me.
("One of the kids was the one who said in the previous chapter "The chances are low but never zero"" The narrator commentated while Philip was narrating.)

Of course, all of their parents were proud of them, especially since they will be studying at the most prestigious academies to become conquerors that could potentially achieve greatness and future glory.
However, the system in place for children like them works like this, after they studied at the academies for four years, that was it, the end of their support from the royal family and the people's taxes, they are basically on their own now, plus it is mandatory for them to serve the military or attempt to conquer the tower for the minimum of five years, which in itself is a fair system.
Basically, once they graduate their path is already decided for them, and they will most likely live a successful and good life, but not all is well, even with the promise of such a dreamlike life, climbing the tower is a risky job that requires bravery to sacrifice your life when the time comes.
And the one whose job is to deliver the news to the parents or relatives, both grim and wonderful are the surveyors.
"Do you really have no plans to at least visit your grandmother's corpse Anna?" The village chief asked.
"HUH?! That old hag?! ME?!! Visit her?! over my dead body!" Ada retorted in both sarcastic and an angry tone.
"Just what could she have done for you to hate her that much?" The village chief asked again in concern.
"Isn't it obvious? It's her fault that I was born this way?! If she wasn't my mother, would I have been so untalented in magic?!! Honestly that Ada should be grateful! and what the fuck is she going to do with that talent?! Leave it to rot here?!!! - Ahhh fuck! that soured my mood, let's leave!" Anna declared in front of the village chief and to some of the villagers, and then walked away hurriedly to the carriage.
Mutter! Mutter! Mutter!
"I'm sorry village chief, I shouldn't have brought those two along no matter how much they begged me to, I thought they were at least going to reconcile with their daughter, but things went south pretty quickly, that was really my bad..." The surveyor said remorsefully, as he lowered his body to match that of the village chief.
"No, it was not your fault, there was no way you could've predicted that this would happen, and to think that you even used a healing scroll to treat their broken wrists, what a good man with pure intentions, you shouldn't be the one apologizing on their behalf" As the old village chief raised his thick white eyebrows that was covering his entire right eye to see the surveyor's reaction to his statement, because he said it in a manner where it was unclear whether he was insulting the man sarcastically or where being sincere with his statement.
"Wow what a big and luxurious carriage"
"It's so fancy"
"Woah!"
"Alright kids, it's time for you enter that carriage" The surveyor spoke in a childish tone.
"C-Can we really?!"
"Don't lie to us mister!"
"Of course, I'm not lying, where else would you guys be riding if not there?" The surveyor continued his sweet talk.
"Ahh You're right"
"Let's go guys-I wonder how soft the sits are inside?!"
Meanwhile Tony just remained quiet because he thought that, 'Kukuku you're all idiots, have you ever seen a main character get so excited about something so trivial?! that's why you're all just side characters!! Just you wait kingdom of humanity I'm coming there to buy all the fancy carriages that you have!!!"
"And you two, you're riding a carriage together with me" As the surveyor ripped out a piece of parchment that made a smaller carriage appear in front of them by teleporting it, its size was big enough to fit at the very least, the three of them.
"Tsk! Tsk!" Anna just clicked her tongue unaware of the bad mouthing that she just received.
"Let's go Anna" As Anna's husband reached out his hand to her.

Anyways, after my mother Estella passed out drunk in their room, I basically had to tell the entire story on how I met Ada to my father, even to what happened on the outskirts that night, but of course I left out the part about us subjugating the beasts, as there is no need to make him needlessly worry about me, because we were handling it just fine.
So now I'm stuck with my father Simon, helping him fetch water from the well.
"Hooh! this should be the last of it" Simon said while wiping off the sweat from his brow.
'This much help from me should be just right, I don't want to shock my father by revealing my full strength to him' Philip thought while looking at his shirtless father.
Philip then noticed something more as he was looking at his father, 'Now that I look at it, isn't my father kind of jacked? and those cuts, I wonder where got those?'
"Come on son, it's time to take a break, let's sit at the nearby tree over there" As Philip's father pointed at the direction of the tree.
The cool breeze of the air blew past them as they both sat together under the tree, then as Philip's father looked at the skies, he began to say something interesting to Philip.
"Now that I think of it, your story reminded me of when I was young, when I fought for your mother's love" Philip's father spoke in a melancholic tone, as his eyes begin expressing a sad but at the same time happy look, he was starting to reminiscence about the past.
"R-Really? Can you tell me more father?" Philip placed some energy in his voice as he pretended that he was interested, because he thought that this was probably going to be one of those boring rants that his parents would ramble about.
"HAHAHA! I see you're interested; your father may not look like it, but I defeated one of the best knights in the kingdom when I was young!" Philip's father was elated as he started boasting about his past.
'C-Could this be, the legendary dad lore?!!' Philip thought to himself, as this story might not be so boring after all.
"You see son, it all started when.."
