Chapter 1 - Transmigration of the Bard

Klaus was 10 when he was watching concerts that his parents brought him whenever their favorite music band played.

He would watch the people cheer and scream the band's names, or even sing along to their hearts as the song played.

As he aged, around 12, his father gave him sorts of gifts; the first was a keyboard that he would once in a while play inside his room in admiration of watching people play on NewTube or at concerts.

But every time he started to play, he couldn't manage to learn the chords or play a single song, even though he aspired to play 'Rush E'.

The next gift that came was a drum set. and the next morning he managed to break his drumstick as well as ruin the drum head, and he immediately got scolded by his father.

Once in a while, he could hear his father strumming an electric guitar so loudly that they sometimes had the police turn up at the front door. Klaus would sneak inside his father's studio to watch his father play alone until he finished.

The last gift he received was an acoustic guitar. The moment he opened the gift, his heart pulsated so fast that he immediately invested his time to play and strum it.

After all that, there was never a time that his hands didn't have bandages, so his father bought him a pick, and for three days he already broke it in half.

Klaus was humming as his arms held the guitar properly, but he couldn't remember the last time he tried to strum the guitar; he was already 25, and the guitar was kept in the attic when he was cleaning up as they were moving out.

He sighed as he tried to strum his hands back and forth randomly.

Before then, he strummed so hard that one of the strings snapped as it hit his finger, causing it to bleed as he groaned and dropped the guitar immediately.

He stared at his finger, which was slightly bleeding from a small, open wound. He put it inside his mouth to suck the rest of his blood before he started to crawl around.

The attic was small, and he could barely stand up. He sighed before he put the things aside and found another guitar that seemed pretty old, like it was from the historical days; more specifically, it was a lute.

He grabbed it immediately and blew the dust away as he held it on his arms awkwardly, staring down at the lute's design.

He very gently tried each string as he smiled, before he strummed randomly once more as he held a snap that suddenly echoed inside the attic.

The next thing his sight found was a few strings moving toward his eyes; they were so thin, and their motion was too fast for him to react.

He flinched and felt a cold sensation wash over his body as the string struck his eyes and face. He was suddenly surrounded by darkness as a hovering blue screen in front of him was presented.

[Do you want to start over?]

A voice echoed inside his head as he froze for a while.

"What do you mean, sta...start over?" He asked himself as he gritted his teeth and looked around.

No light was present; only what was in front of him was a blue screen-like system that offered the options "yes" and "no.".

"F*ck," he cursed as he rubbed his hair. "Yes."

The moment the option was initiated, the screen displayed a new set of text.

[Confirmed.]

[The player whose former name is is now assigned the name .]

The voice responded as he claimed the title of Augur in the system displayed over his character.

[The player is now given the title:

]

[The player is now bound with equipment.]

[Due to life experience, the player is given a skill...]

[Skill: , and ]

[The player is granted a gift after death.]

[Ultimate Skill: ]

"Huh...? What do you mean after death...?" Augur said as he was staring at the system with his heart pounding loudly in his chest as the voice remained in his head.

The system vanished as the voice echoed in his head.

[The player is now granted access to transmigration. Do you wish to accept?]

"Wait, wait! What the f*ck is happening?" Augur asked as there was a long pause of silence.

[Invalid command. Do you wish to accept?]

The voice answered as the system suddenly appeared and started a countdown for 10 seconds.

"Wait... A...Accept!" Augur said as the system vanished.

[Proceeding with the command. The player is now being sent to the ...]

[Success.]

[The player is now being sent to the ...]

[Error.]

[The player is now being sent to the ...]

[Error.]

[Due to technical issues, the player is now given the following rewards:

, <10 Gold>, and .]

"Broken what?" Augur asked as he blinked for a moment.

"What can I do with a broken lute?" His tone was strong, and his brows curled together.

The system flashes another message in front of him.

[Since the player is not granted access to the main capital, I would now conduct a search for a random coordinate in the kingdom...]

[Success.]

[The player is now being sent inside .]

"Hey! Answer me!" Augur screamed at the top of his lungs as he suddenly felt a surge of impact pulling his body away.

A light descended towards him and pulled him away from the dark space where he was isolated. As he felt his vision glow blurry, he soon lost his strength and immediately passed out.

His body was now lying against the dirt as his hand was holding the Lute, while the space around him was covered in a thick mist.

[The player is now present in .]

[Initiating the wake-up sequence.]

As the voice system said, suddenly an electric zap covered his body and sparked as he suddenly gasped and sat up.

"What the f*ck was that?! Can you at least wake me up properly?" he groans as he feels his whole body trembling as silence fills his head.

As he sat up and glanced over to his hand to see the Broken Old Lute, he sighed. He is already wearing the Bard's robe, and a golden pouch was placed in his pocket.

He could still feel how weakly his muscles were shaken by the electric shock.

'Where am I...?' Augur rubbed his head and looked around to notice that he was in a town covered in a thick, foggy mist.

An eerie feeling of cold covered his body as his hair stood, "What is with this place?"

He mumbles to himself as he stands up, trying to picture his location as the raven's caws in a nearby area.

Ding!

[Quest: ]

[Description: Player must successfully escape the wrath of .]

[Rewards: ???]

His brows furrowed as gaze relentlessly traveled around his surroundings, and as he took a few steps.

'Runner? What should I run for? And more specifically who would be the one chasing me...?' His thoughts echoes inside his head as foot suddenly bumped into a hardened object.

As he glanced down, he could barely picture what his foot bumped into, but the fog cleared in a brief moment.

He was greeted by a dried, fleshy body that had been feasted upon bit by bit. Its face and stomach were already torn open.

"F*CK." He cursed; his tone was strong, but he muttered only under his breath and gasped before he put his hand over his lips and almost puked.

[The player has found the body of a village folk.]

[The fog in the small portion around the player's field will clear out.]

As the voice system in his head said, the fog suddenly cleared around his area, and he looked around to see a dried tree.

There was the presence of five ravens, whose gazes were fixed on him.

But what made his heart drop at the pit of his stomach was their eyes glowing like crimson blood, their gaze full of blood lust as the system reacted on his head.

[Danger.]

Followed by a beeping sound in his head lasting for about 10 seconds before it went into full silence.

They cawed, and one of the members of the raven was munching on flesh under the tree.

"A human," one of the ravens said as they flexed their wings excitedly.

"Fresh human meat!" The ravens caws altogether as Augur took a step back, gritting his teeth as he held the Lute tightly in his hand.

"This sh*tty system, f*ck, f*ck...!"
