The dining hall was vast, with high ceilings and rows of wooden tables and benches. Most of the tables were empty. On one side of the hall, men sat together, eating and talking in low voices. Across from them, a smaller group of women sat, their whispers barely audible. The air smelled of warm bread and roasted meat, with a faint hint of smoke from the lanterns.
The food was delicious, too. The bread was soft, the soup sweet and tasty, and the dumplings fresh, soaked deliciously in the broth. After eating only dried meat and preserved food for so long, she was very satisfied with the meal. She ate happily. While Emma was surprised to see her eating so much, she didn't say anything. She had dealt with many other girls from royal families, most of whom had a "holier than thou" attitude that made them very unlikable.
