After Zhenzhen left his chambers, Hou Hai went to Xiaoling's chamber. Upon arriving, he found her sleeping. It was such an important time. How could she fall asleep?
Hou Hai reached for her, shaking her shoulders gently so she wouldn't feel pain. She opened her eyes slowly, jolting up to sit upon seeing Hou Hai.
"Y-Your Highness," she uttered words for the first time in forever.
Hou Hai smiled, "Can you walk? I need to show you something."
Xiaoling hesitantly nodded, watching as he pushed her quilt aside to let her slip out of the bed. He gently grabbed her arm and helped her stand. Her wounds were far from healed, but she could walk with support.
She was surprised Hou Hai was willing to see her again. Last time, he had been kind enough to let the physician treat her. However, she could tell how condescending his tone was. She expected him to treat her poorly from there on. But seeing how he helped her walk was something she hadn't expected.
