The water felt heavy, slowly removing consciousness from Xiaoling's eyes. The blue water suddenly turned gray, then red, then all was blank as if it never existed. Xiaoling woke up with a gasp, finding herself in a haystack. She remembered how she got there, but her head was hazy.
She dragged her body to stand, wiping the moist hay from her clothes. It seemed like it had rained earlier while she was asleep. She lowered her face to sniff her clothes, looking up with slight disgust.
Just then, an old lady walked out of the shed, "You're awake?" She chuckled, "I tried waking you up several times."
Xiaoling nervously chuckled, "I'll wash myself, then help you with dinner."
The old lady smiled, "Go, then."
