Elena's POV
The taxi ride to Emily's place felt endless. My heart pounded against my ribs, my mind racing with a thousand possible ways this could go down. I wasn't supposed to be here, but something felt off. Emily hadn't been herself lately—too confident, too smug. I needed to know why.
As I approached her building, I slowed my steps, ducking behind a parked car when I saw two figures outside the entrance. My breath hitched. Alex? Alex and Emily?
They were standing too close, their voices low, their body language secretive. My stomach churned. Alex, Olivia's boyfriend—no, our Alex—was having a conversation with Emily. A dangerous conversation, from the looks of it.
I pulled out my phone, hands trembling as I zoomed in. One snap. Then another. My heart screamed at me to run, but my curiosity kept me rooted in place. What was he doing here? Was this… betrayal?
