Chapter 83 - Love And Money Crossroads

There is a common meme that trends around on social media. It might have different images, but the question goes like this:

"What do you choose between love and money?"

Adolescents are more likely to prioritize financial gain due to their perceived lack of commitments. They believe they have ample time to select a suitable partner for parenthood.

As for me, I found my mind thinking the opposite.

"Here, take this bank card. It has more than a billion dollars. I am sure this is what you prefer than gifts."

Lexi's voice was as sweet as ever, but my eyes couldn't help but tremble at the red card she was holding.

We were at the underground train station, but it felt like only I was standing in the Sahara desert.

"Hey, is something wrong?" The beauty asked, as she got her face closer to mine, making me feel even hotter.

I stepped a few inches back, trying hard to hide my blushing face, as I stammered, "I...I am fine... I didn't expect you to give out such a large amount of money."

Lexi swayed her head to the side, making a pleading face, "Please take it. You will make me feel bad. I have put you in a lot of trouble already."

I couldn't say no to such a cute face, nor would I bear never seeing it again in my life.

I took the red bank card, together with her palm. Every male knows that skin contact increases the level of intimacy.

"Can I, can I, can I..."

Lexi couldn't hold herself when she saw me staggering for words like an elementary school child, as she pulled away from my grip, "Can you what?! Do you know my train is arriving in the next second."

Ting–!

Hearing the train's loud chime, I knew I had to act quickly or I would never see Lexi again in my whole life.

"Can I have your number?!"

I pleaded with every fiber of my body as well as my soul, hoping for that stroke of sunshine in my life.

"Okay, here is my business card."

Seeing that I wasn't going to accept it, she put it in my breast pocket, "Bye Tito Roux Z."

I watched the lovely girl run towards the train together with a small group of people, and I so wished for that train door to close, but that never happened, which left me making a big sigh.

However, that didn't mean Lexi was not going to send me her farewells. She waved at me, before sending me a kiss with a sly smile.

"Does she know that I love her?" I questioned myself in disbelief.

I shook my head a few times, trying to deny that fact, but I didn't consider the fact that Lexi had met a gazillion of people who fell for her.

I was supposed to host a street show in the heart of Los Angeles, swindling some money from rich fools, but that day I listened to the words from two women.

From my sister Ida Rouz, who died earlier that year, and that of my so-called first crush Lexi Kronos, one of the richest girls on Earth at that time.

I finally decided to stop being a thief.

In the process of trying to make myself a better man than I was before, I learned a very important lesson.

You will never get a lover if you depend on social media.

Videos with titles like "How to make a girl fall for you via text messages" and "Small things that will make you get a date."

All those are lies. I know because I used to be one of the people who profited from those videos.

The trick to getting girls is you and her.

On text, it's all about saying things that will make her respond back to you.

Here is a scenario:

[Man: Do you believe in love?]

It is a question she can't say "no" to because almost everyone has a time and place they feel love.

[Woman: Not really.]

She might not say it like that, but something along those lines, or if she is into you or happens to have a boyfriend, she will just give you a straight "Yes."

[Man: What if I help you believe in love again?]

If you are not her type or at least interesting to talk to, you get blocked right away. However, on the internet, such a move would let you get any chick.

All men seem to be forgetting that women might watch that stuff to keep up with the latest trends.

Girls are not dumb.

A woman could be in the worst position possible, and the only words you'll hear from her are "I'll figure it out," and I promise you she will find a way! She might have a million breakdowns, but she she's going to get through it.

Anyways, I tried text messaging Lexi, but it was as hard as granite. She would give me one-word answers most of the time, if she decided to read my message. I knew she had a boyfriend, so I just wanted to be her friend with benefits, of course.

After two months of trying, I gave up and moved to my mother's hometown, Nice, in France. I wasn't the first man to watch the girl I love walk away, so I planned to relax my mind and let Lexi get out of my thoughts. After that, I hoped to meet the one I am going to last forever with.

There is an old Zimbabwe saying that goes like this: "Take the fruits within your reach."

Lexi hailed from one of the wealthiest families globally, and she stood at an elite level of society. She epitomizes an unreachable pinnacle, akin to a fruit that would prove impossibly burdensome to grasp.

As I minded my business in my favorite club "Nous t'appelons," enjoying my drink by myself, a group of familiar-looking men started causing trouble. However, the buff dudes didn't do anything to me until the man I hate the most showed up.

"Kill that fraud. I don't want to see him at my daughter's wedding next week."
