Chapter 46 - Tito’s Resurgence

A radiant light started coming from Tito's body, and the corrections Chief Officer became even more startled as he didn't expect his opponent to act quickly.

Looking at the red-yellowish flames hurtling towards him, resembling a small sun, Ferrari could only swing his wand around himself to create a shield to protect his purple-skinned body.

Boom—!

Before he could react, Tito's incinerating kick landed squarely on his chest, sending him crashing against the ground.

"Kurgh!!" Ferrier coughed up a mountain of blood as he weakly gazed at the foot-sized burnt mark settled in the middle of his chest.

In a normal situation, Ferrier's ability is just one step weaker than Tito's, yet thanks to Black and White being berserk, it felt like the two were worlds apart.

'Darn it! My life is at stake here!!'

A sudden urge to quickly abandon his men and escape as soon as possible grew overwhelming, prompting him to turn around and start running.

'If I stay here any longer, I would surely lose my life...'

It was a wise decision on his part.

The invisibility given to him and his men now felt like a hindrance, as there was a possibility of him bumping into the other prison guards.

However, the amount of heat his body felt increased, leading him to look back, yet he couldn't find the source.

'Where did he go?!' His mind raced.

Looking to his sides, he could see all the walls of the pathway he is standing on shrouded by blazing flames.

This scene was accompanied by high-pitched screams as his men were roasted to death, leaving only ashes.

Swiftly acting, the corrections chief officer pointed his stick to the ground, and a dam of water flooded the entire pathway.

However, in a matter of seconds, the temperature of the water started increasing until it began boiling the purple-skinned alien.

"Aghhk!" Ferrier groaned.

He was being stewed alive, the worst type of death a person could ever hope for. Nevertheless, he did not move away from his position.

In fact, the alien grinned and exclaimed, "Raging Wave!"

Ferrier pointed his wand to the ground, and water started coming out in a spiral form, covering the entire pathway in just minutes.

He quickly abandoned his previous thoughts of running away.

'The only way I can kill him is by dousing him with water when his whole body is on fire.'

His assumption was right on the money, as Tito would indeed die if water or sand were thrown at him in his current state.

Nonetheless, Tito had used the chief's actions to his advantage. He had made sure to move Rajah into the room where Encender and Star were lying unconscious.

He took a deep breath and smiled to himself as he quickly narrated a poem in his heart.

'My heart is like embers, once ablaze with fire,

Now smoldering ashes, devoid of desire.

Life's flame that once fueled me, now flickers low,

A dying spark, in a sea of ice and snow.

I lived a life that burned, with passion's fierce might,

But now I'm lost, a fading light, in endless night.

My soul, a kite, once soaring high and free,

Now tangled, broken, and lost, in misery.

My eyes, once bright, now dim and cold as stone,

Reflect the emptiness, that I've made my home.

I searched for connection, for hearts that could understand,

But found instead, a hollow echo, in this desolate land.

My flesh, once strong, now weak and lost its might,

My bones, the only framework, holding on to life's light.

I yearn to reignite, the flame that once burned bright,

But fear, it's lost forever, in the dark of night.

Like a firefly caught in a spider's web, I'm trapped,

A prisoner of my own despair, with no escape.

But then, I feel the presence of those who believed,

Their hands reaching out, pulling me out of the abyss, relieving.

I realize my mistakes, and the spider's snare,

But I am the child of a Phoenix and a Viper, I declare!

With wings of fire and eyes of piercing might,

I'll rise from the ashes, and shine with new-found light.

The flame in my heart will ignite, reaching for the sky,

As I embrace my heritage, and let my true self fly!'

The flames from every corner of the pathway swirled together, coalescing to create Tito's tangible form.

Drenched in the water that covered half of the pathway, he sank to the bottom as the chief continued to summon more water using his resonate ability.

Struggling to swim in the water, Ferrier kept his head above the surface to breathe.

Pushing himself too hard, blood started to drip from his nose. Despite his injuries, he remained unfazed.

'That idiot! I can't believe I feared him all this time! It was foolish of him to close all the doors when facing someone like me.' he thought to himself.

Ferrier could continuously produce water from his wand, limited only by his stamina.

In contrast, Tito's ability allowed him to turn only certain body parts into fire, restricting the number of sacrifices he could make.

"Kakakaka!!" Ferrier let out a loud laughter that echoed through the entire pathway.

The fact that all his men had been turned to ashes by Black and White a few minutes ago didn't even enter his mind.

"With this, I can finally face the Warden!" he exclaimed, wearing a wide smile on his grotesque face.

He believed the saintly Vice Warden would forgive him for messing up the plan to find the so-called Xenogenisis.

However, the Warden wouldn't let him off easy, considering the correction officers died in his presence.

'I will just tell him that the brat had two abilities, so sacrifices were necessary to kill him.'

Feeling the burst of glory wash over him, Ferrier was certain Tito wouldn't rise again. His eyes, resembling black puddles, were the proof of that.

However, the same feelings he had not too long ago started coming back, and his body started shivering out of his will.

'No! I am boiling!'

Ferrier looked beneath him, and he couldn't see all the water he summoned, as he was now swimming in a pool of blue flames.

Swiftly his body disappeared from the universe.
