Chereads / SON OF DUNE / Chapter 3 - Paul.

Chapter 3 - Paul.

In the Noble House of Atreides, Paul, a ten-year-old boy, was under the tutelage of Duncan Idaho, a lieutenant of the Atreides personal army trainer. Despite his youth, Paul was not a robust figure, but rather, he was slender and lacking in muscle. His face bore the unmistakable features of an Atreides, with the subtle genetic marker inherited from his mother, Lady Jessica.

"What did I tell you about your back facing the door," Duncan's voice boomed as he entered the room. His olive skin hinted at hours spent under the sun, and his long hair cascaded down his back. Clad in the bulky, grey Atreides armor, he strode in, his gaze falling upon the young man who appeared preoccupied. Duncan's authority was palpable, even in his casual demeanor.

" Yeah, I am just not feeling well today; Duncan, perhaps another time," Paul said. A deep sadness ran within him. He saw the body of an elderly woman being held and the words " I am here, I am here." in Chakobsa, the language of the Fremen. His mother had begun to teach him in the way of the Mentat ever since he was born.

At times, he would find a deep sadness in her eyes. As far as he was aware, Damon Atreides never existed, and if he was mentioned, it was privately. In this vision, he was called the Kerlln, which he knew was one of the moons of Arrakis.

His mother had told him to study the names of every planet and its culture, even the ancient Earth.

" Stand up, you are Atreides. You fight with necessity, and as of right now, you fight for your life. Duncan brought out his sword and attacked the young boy, and Paul felt the blade come to him from behind. He grabbed the blade that was on the table before him and jumped over it.

He looked at Duncan, and the man just had a smile plastered on his face. Paul switched on his shield, and it turned colors, first a blue hue that was almost invisible. Paul stretched his arm by swinging his sword in certain ways. He did not know why he was doing this; he usually did not do this, but ever since that vision, he felt like he understood the sword much better.

Duncan attacked Paul once again, but Paul parried the sword, kicking the man in the middle of his knees while pushing his sword upwards and sliding down below to the waist and attacking for a slice to the intestines.

But Duncan blocked the blade and stepped back. " What in the hell was that m'lord." Duncan asked. He had never seen Paul fight that way, and those moves were all for incapacitating and killing. When Paul attacked, he changed like he wasn't the boy he knew.

His initial style of hesitating to kill was nowhere to be seen. His fighting style was not based on strength but on speed and agility.

Paul was fighting like an experienced fighter, and that is what made him dangerous. Duncan Idaho began to block more than attack, but with one move, he kicked the young man back, and his back slammed the table.

This brought Paul out of his trance. he mouthed the words "krelln."

After the training, Paul was brought to his room and slept, but Duncan reported what had occurred to Duke Leto. To his side was his concubine, Lady Jessica. " So you are saying that the way Paul fought was not like him? And how would you describe my son?"

"With all due respect, sire, Paul is a timid boy, and he refrains from committing killing blows; when I entered the training room, he told me he doesn't feel well.

But when I attacked, something changed; he went for killing blows. He fought like a man who had experience killing. I had to strike him to make him stop and get him out of the trance. Forgive me, sire."

Lady Jessica wanted to yell at the Lieutenant. But her Bene Genesserit training stopped her from showing a reaction. But then something clicked inside her. Maybe that wasn't Paul, she thought.

But she thought it impossible. It was only natural for Paul to be able to do something like this; he was in training to be a mentat. Perhaps these were his abilities Manifesting. It should be his abilities, that's all. Damon, my child is gone. She thought.

"Before he slept, he said the word Krelln," Jessica remembered one of the moons of the Planet Arrakis, but that is all she had learned from this.

On the planet Arrakis, Krelln held the dead body of his mother, and on his hip was her Crysknife. It was white like a bone, but on the edge was a tint of red-like hue. It was rare among crysknife. There was none like it.

" she was proud of you, Krelln, and now you are Fremen. You rode the Great Shia-Hulud. Krelln grabbed his mother's body and walked all the way to the entrance of the Sitches. He entered, and many more followed him.

The deeper he went, the more he saw that there were very few guards. It was then that he knew there was a meeting and an elder was getting replaced. He walked faster towards the center of the cave, where the Fremen would meet to make a decision that would affect them.

Many Fremen sat around in a circle watching as Rohan was stabbed in the heart by a younger man who wanted the position of elder. despite the young man's victory over Rohan, very few congratulated him.

Rather, they looked towards Krelln, who held the Body of his mother. he walked to the edge of the circle and placed her body there. he caressed he cheek and kissed her forehead. he then walked into the middle of the circle.

one Fremen looked at this, and he became enraged by the boy's actions, " You boy, don't you know that you cannot pass the circle,? Leave here, boy. We don't want you here; the only reason we allowed you to live among us is because of the influence of Lokam and Rohan but now they are gone.

Sen, bolam, aylanadan o'ta olmasligingni bilmaysanmi? Bu yerdan ket, bolam. Biz sizni bu yerda istamaymiz; Seni oramizda yashashga ruxsat berganimizning yagona sababi Lokam va Rohanning ta'siri, lekin hozir ular yo'q.)

" you kill my father, you corner him like an animal. and now they are gone, you speak to me as if I am a rabid animal.
