Third person POV
And so, at 10:22 a.m., Gen took Reina to the headquarters' training room for Reina's first lessons in blade training. There he grabbed two katanas and gave one to Reina. "Thanks," replied Reina as he accepted it.
With that, Gen unsheathed his and began explaining to him the basics of blade training in the katana style of fighting.
Reina really paid attention to his lessons, determined to fight off the zombies.
Then, Gen demonstrated how to fight with some bamboo shoots. His demonstrations were simple and easy to digest and follow. Also, those are just simple series of slashes and cuts. Reina was paying attention once more. After that, Gen said to him, "Now it's your turn." Reina then nodded and unsheathed his blade, before facing another series of bamboo shoots on his left. He then took a deep breath and then, he slashed one of them with one cut, slicing it into two.
Gen was impressed on his first try. "Very good. It seems that you're getting the hang of it."
Reina then looked at him with positivity. "Yup!"
"Now, continue on."
Reina did so with a series of slashes and cuts.
"Okay, very good," commented Gen as he sheathed his own katana. "Let's clean up a bit and take some break."
Reina then sheathed his and nodded in agreement.
They then both cleaned up the mess they recently made. As they did so, Gen noticed that Reina was a bit down once again. Thinking that he was thinking about him killing his parents, Gen said to him, "Look, I am sorry for what I did to your parents."
"No, it's not that," replied Reina back as he picked up the mess. "It's my act of killing you for revenge."
He then straightened the trash bag and sighed with guilt. "I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't do that. It's my fault."
In response, Gen finishes his task and walks up to Reina to hug him in an attempt to comfort him. "It's okay, we're even in terms of guilt, okay?"
Reina then began to tear up and hugged him back tightly, trying to feel his warmth. "Thank you. I'll do anything for you in return."
"Me too, me too as well. I'll make up to you by becoming your family."
Reina then pulled back from hugging. "Really?"
Gen then smiled and nodded. "Yes, me and my men will be your family if you want."
Because of that, Reina began to cry a bit in gratitude. "Thank you…thank you…I'll be your brother or son then. That's the last thing I can do to make up to you."
"Of course." Gen gently stroked Reina's black hair, "anything for my new family member."
Reina then wiped his tears with his right arm and smiled at him in response, before going back to finish his cleaning task.
After that, they left the training room and to the break room to have some food since they didn't eat any breakfast. There Gen made some Japanese omelets and steamed rice for himself and Reina. Once that was done, they both sat down for the meal and made a prayer gesture. "Thanks for the food."
They grabbed their chopsticks and eat up their delicious meal.
"So good!" Reina commented as he loved the taste of the egg dish.
"You're welcome, brother," Gen happily responded as he ate, "you can ask me for anything."
"Yeah, but I'd rather do something for you."
"Okay then."
Later after that, they had some more breaks since they had just eaten breakfast. Gen used that time to research a cure against the zombie virus. Wanting to do something for his new guardian, Reina joined in, and Gen allowed that out of kindness for him. They both researched and did some experiments and mixing of flasks and beakers. Reina, although average in scientific knowledge, was determined to help out. Despite Reina making some mistakes along the way, Gen was fine with them since it was normal for a scientist to do that.
Then, at 11:01 a.m., Nato and his squad came back with 2 boxes full of the antipsychotic medication needed for Reina's and Gen's mental illnesses. Gen and Reina were informed of this by Arashi, so they interrupted their work and went to one of the debriefing rooms to get the daily dosage of their necessary medication. There they picked up one pack each from the 7 boxes of different medications and had the rest stored away at a storage room for safekeeping. Once that was done, they both took their medications according to Ken's prescriptions for each of those 7 medications. 3 of those medications only required 1 piece per day, while the other 4 required 1 piece twice a day. So, for the latter 4, they promised to take the second dosage tonight. The research for the cure is now on the way.
