Despite the alarm, I could barely wake up in the morning. Even though I consumed as much energy as I could every night to increase my magical energy, the sudden and high energy absorption of the alchemy circle completely dried me out. I was still pretty tired. I'm even going to cancel today's morning exercise.
Luckily I didn't have class until noon today. Thanks once again to Hogwarts' ridiculous curriculum. I only had 2 classes today. Care of magical creatures after lunch and hands-on astronomy at night.
Caring for magical creatures was one of the classes I was looking forward to. Especially since I know which monster we will cover in today's first lesson: hippogriffs!!! Yes, at first I thought it was a joke. I mean, who would bring an xxx-rated magical creature into a classroom full of teenage kids? Although I should have realized a long time ago not to trust the common sense of wizards. Apparently this is a tradition thing. Showing students a magical animal that will attract their attention in the first lesson. Hippogriffs are actually pretty good at this.
First of all, hippogriffs are among the magical animals with higher intelligence. Secondly, the hippogriffs at Hogwarts have been at Hogwarts for many years, and they are well trained and have been used in the care of magical creatures class for years. So they don't attack students unless a fool like Draco Malfoy directly provokes them. Even then, Professor Kettleburn said he would only bring one or two hippogriffs to class and he could easily subdue them.
Hagrid's biggest mistake in the books was bringing more hippogriffs into class than he could control.
While I was thinking about today's lesson, I was also taking a shower. Even though I'm tired, I still have something else to do after breakfast today. Treasure hunt in the room of requirements! After speaking with Radagian, I decided to search the lost and found room for various magical herb seeds. Filling the pocket dimension with various creatures and creating an ecosystem there will allow voxnaturae to become incredibly powerful. Obtaining ordinary plant seeds is not that difficult, but the sale of magic plant seeds is strictly controlled by the ministry. Especially in war times like now, it is controlled even more harshly.
At first I tried to ask directly from the room of requirements. But it was painful to discover that I couldn't get out anything the room provided. Later, when I tried to retrieve something from the lost and found room, I discovered there was no problem.
After a little research, I learned that the only person other than me who knew about the room of requirement, Riddle, had classes this morning. It was the only time I could search the room without the chance of running into Riddle.
After changing as quickly as possible, I went down to the large hall for breakfast. While I was having my breakfast, I was watching the door of the large hall. I don't want to Riddle's comings and goings. Riddle entering the room while I was in the room would, at best, put me at the top of the basilisk's attack list, and that's definitely not the outcome I want. The ideal outcome would be, after a few attacks, before anyone dies, to tell Dumbledore what I know and get a small reward if possible.
After consuming the equivalent of two portions of food for a normal human, Riddle finally entered the great hall. It was quite difficult to miss him. He tends to act together with a large group of purebred students who generally come from traditionalist families. Black, Lestrange etc. They would be the parents of future death eaters, and some of them would even become death eaters themselves.
I can't help but wonder how many of them actually think they're friends with Riddle, and how many of them realize they're just followers.
As I was eating my fourth helping, Riddle and the gang finally finished their breakfast and began to leave the great hall. I guessed that it was finally class time as the fifth graders from various homes started to get active. I immediately gathered and left the big hall. When I saw Riddle entering the defense against dark arts class, I continued without changing my path. Even though it was a bit long, I eventually came to the portrait of Barny Barnabas on the seventh floor. After passing by the portrait three times thinking about the 'lost and found room', I passed through the door that appeared in the place of the portrait and finally entered the lost and found room.
The room was just like it was described in the books and movies. Stacks of random items scattered around were everywhere. Some of them didn't even reach my knees, while others were easily two or three times my height. Riddle's lesson was going to last at least an hour, and I didn't know if he had any classes after that. At least he wasn't with Gryffindors, if anything. Therefore, knowing that I did not have much time, I immediately reached voxnaturae, as Radagian had taught me, and used the druid spell I learned last week. 'quaerere vitam' It was a magic developed to perceive the life forces of living creatures in the environment. It was a less effective scanning spell since it didn't work against dead things or inanimate objects, but it was perfectly fine for me in the current situation. Ultimately, what I'm looking for are plants that have enough life force to germinate, and in some rare cases, animal eggs.
I was incredibly disappointed to perceive things that still had life force. Although it wasn't a different result than I expected. Who would lose magical plant seeds and magical animal eggs, which are frankly quite valuable? Acting on the sensations I received from Quaerere vitam, I began to walk around the room.
As I was trying to get the second seed, I realized that this might take longer than I expected. It was quite difficult to find those little seeds among the huge piles of stuff. I was also trying not to make any major changes to the layout of the room. I don't know how aware Riddle is of the room's layout, but since he trusts this room enough to hide his horcrux in the future, he must think it's pretty secret, and if he realizes others have access to his secret place, he might become paranoid and be more cautious. I don't want to mess with a more cautious Riddle if possible.
Ugh! Why wasn't I born like those lucky reincarnators with a freak system that will make me the strongest in the world in a month, instead here I am trying to pick small seeds from huge piles of items without knocking them over, while trying not to get caught by the psychopathic dark lord of the future.
While I was whining, I continued to look for the seeds. When a large group finally entered my perception area, I immediately headed towards it. Unfortunately, after passing the pile of items that blocked my view, I stopped in regret. Up ahead I saw a very collected area, unlike the rest of the room. There was no doubt that someone had organized the place. Instead of items piling up randomly
scattered around a desk and a few cabinets. Various books and materials were lined up on the table and in the cabinets. There was no doubt that Riddle or someone else was using this place as their personal space. I did not move any closer to avoid triggering any alarm or trap spells. After reluctantly looking at the chest where I sensed the life force for a while, I turned around and headed towards another pile further away.
Hell, Riddle had probably led a treasure hunt here before and collected everything of value. What I don't understand is why he didn't move these items to the room of secrets, it would be safer there than here. Anyway, this works for me, if Riddle ends up in Azkaban before moving the items here to the Chamber of Secrets or selling them for money, everything here will be mine.
After wandering around the room a little more, I found almost no magic herb seeds, as I expected. When I did a tempus, I realized that Riddle had fifteen minutes until he got out of class, so I decided to leave the room of requirement to avoid taking any chances. I don't think I can find anything valuable in this time anyway.
I was incredibly depressed. I knew Riddle was probably on a treasure hunt, but it was still incredibly annoying how he completely exploited the room of requirement. Cursing Riddle's greed, I had arrived at the shore of the great lake before I knew it. While I was walking on the shore of the lake, I suddenly heard a voice behind me and turned in that direction.
"Hagrid."
I couldn't help but be surprised for a moment when I saw Anna Bones speeding up her steps to catch up with me. We had barely spoken before, apart from what we talked about on the train on the way to school, and we weren't very friendly. I waited for him to catch up with me. When she came to me, she started talking after pausing for a while to catch his breath.
"Hi Hagrid. If I remember correctly, you are also taking a course in the care of magical creatures, right?"
I was starting to understand the issue. Thanks to the traditions of the care of magical creatures class, there was a rumor going around at school about this subject, as with everything else. Add to this the tendency of English wizards and witches to frighten young people, and incredible rumors emerged. Even I, who is generally antisocial, had heard a few things. A list of rather dangerous creatures, ranging from dragons to manticores, was floating around the school.
"Yes, I am taking that lesson too. If I remember correctly, you also chose this course."
After nodding his head in approval, he continued speaking quickly.
"I hear you are close to Professor Kettleburn. I wonder if you know what we will do in class today?"
"Ahh, so you've had your share of the rumor mill. You do not need to worry. What I heard was all nonsense. Professor Kettleburn will bring an intriguing and partially tamed magical beast that he can easily control."
"Partly?"
"After all, these are magical beasts, but you don't need to worry. The magical monsters that the Professor will show in class have been used in classes at Hogwarts for years. As long as you follow the Professor's instructions, there will be no problem."
She seemed somewhat relieved now.
"I knew those rumors were bullshit, but some of them were truly terrifying. İt didn't help at all with that brutal book."
Wild book? Oh Your Monsters: The Monster book.
Interesting book and the fact that it tries to bite people definitely adds to its appeal. After all, who doesn't love books that try to bite their owner!!!
The book was a real treasure trove of information. There was a good reason why it was still used in classes years later.
What are the fantasy monsters written by Newt Scamander? Where are they found? The fact that it can compete with its book says a lot.
"Actually, if you know the secret, the book is very easy to read. If you caress the spine of the book, it allows you to calm down and read it for approximately two hours. "It's also a real wealth of information about fantastic beasts."
"Passing the spine of the book? Who could have predicted this?"
I shrugged and answered.
"When you take a book off the shelf, what part of the book do you touch first?"
He responded with an expression of understanding and enlightenment.
"On the spine of the book?"
"That's right, no one would pay for a book they can't read. Naturally, we need a simple method that will allow the book to be read, sometimes we should not think too complicated."
"Still annoying."
After confirming, we chatted until lunch time.
After dinner, I went straight to the fenced-in outdoor classroom on the Hogwarts grounds, where the lesson on the care of magical creatures was held. While we were waiting for the professor, the lecture area slowly began to be filled with students. Just when it was time for class, Professor Kettleburn arrived with two hippogriffs tied with two leather straps from collars around their necks.
"Okay guys, all of you, form a circle around me. Yes, come a little closer. Okay, that's enough."
We were less than 10 steps away from the professor and the hippogriffs. Some students were nervous about being so close to the hippogriffs, but there was no problem yet.
"Yes, let's see if everyone is here? Okay, since everyone is here, we can start the lesson. First of all, I want to start with the rules about the class. Care of magical creatures may be one of the most dangerous classes at Hogwarts. That's why I will give you clear instructions during the lesson. Those who do not follow these instructions will be immediately expelled from the class. Now those who have doubts about this course are free to abandon it."
Understandably, no one walked out of class. The professor looked around the classroom for a few seconds and then continued the lecture.
"Does anyone recognize the beautiful creatures you see behind me?"
I raised my hand along with a few other people in the class.
"Yes, Mr Hagrid."
"Hippogriff, rated xxx by the Ministry of Magic. A magical beast with the head of an eagle and the body of a horse."
"5 points to Gryffindor. An extremely accurate definition. Hippogriffs are animals that are often bred by magicians because of their feathers. They were also bred as riding animals in the past because they have a strong sense of loyalty."
"Now, everyone should open the 10th page of their book. There you will find the details of the ministry's classification system, followed by the section on hippogriffs."
As soon as the professor finished speaking, a Slytherin student raised his hand and began to speak with a mocking tone in his voice, without the professor giving him permission to speak.
"So how do you expect us to open this book?"
At the same time, he was lifting the book into the air with one hand.
Professor Kettleburn just frowned slightly. People who didn't know him wouldn't pay attention to such a small movement, but those who knew him like me could tell that he was extremely angry right now.
"First of all, if you talk during class again without my permission, you will be punished, Mr. Bracken. For now, only 5 points from Slytherin." After taking a deep breath and calming down, he continued speaking. "Secondly, if you caress the spines of your books, they will let you read them for two hours."
Bracken sat down, red with anger and embarrassment. I would have to watch out for him.
Last week, Professor Kettleburn called me and told me that he had written to a friend about Faye. According to her friend, it is okay for Faye to eat junk food as long as it does not exceed certain amounts per day.
So, regardless of the old Hagrid, I quite like Professor Kettleburn and I don't want a second Malfoy case in his class.
After this incident, the professor talked for half an hour about the system used by the Ministry of Magic to classify magical beasts and the various characteristics of hippogriffs.
In fact, the system of the Ministry of Magic was quite simple. The more aggressive and powerful a creature was, the higher it was rated, but aggression was more important than destructive power. For example, a thunderbird that could create a storm was rated xxxx, while a dragon that could easily be stunned by 15-20 wizards was rated xxxxx. Likewise, a Nundu who could easily kill hundreds of wizards if he wanted to was also rated xxxxx because he did not attack unless you entered his territory. He was lucky that some magical beasts, such as the magic world nundu, were not particularly aggressive. Otherwise they would need a new level of classification and a magic army to keep these creatures in restricted areas.
After half an hour, the theoretical part of the course was finally over. Now we came to the fun part. I wonder if Professor Kettleburn would let me ride a hippogriff and fly.
Professor Kettleburn clapped his hands in the air to get our attention. When he felt that he had all the attention of the class, he started speaking. "Now we will move on to the practical part of the course. Remember, you will approach them slowly without breaking eye contact. When the distance between you decreases to two meters, you will bow and greet without breaking eye contact. When they lean towards you, you can sit up and pet them, and maybe even the lucky ones can fly with them."
Apart from me, no one seemed happy about the prospect of flying. What strange people, aren't they?!
"Yes, Mr Hagrid, would you like to be the first?"
I excitedly walked towards the front of the class. Meanwhile, the professor came towards us, holding one of the hippogriffs in the back by the strap around his neck.
"This beautiful creature's name is furrypaw. I hope you get along well."
I moved closer until Furrypaw and I were 3 meters away. I slowed down the moment I made eye contact with that. I started to approach him extremely slowly. On the other hand, I was paying attention to his feelings with voxnaturae.
When the distance between us decreased to 2 meters, two things happened at the same time. First, furrypaw suddenly raised his head even higher. Secondly, I got a warning feeling from voxnaturae. It felt like it was telling me I shouldn't get any closer. I stood where I was and slowly bowed, without breaking eye contact. Furrypaw watched me for a while, then with a feeling of approval from voxnaturae, furrypaw bent her front knees and bowed. No doubt he was saluting.
I quickly sat up and approached Furrypaw upon the professor's signal. While petting Furrypaw, it suddenly bent his head and put it under my armpit. Thanks to Voxnaturae, I knew what you meant. İt wanted me to ride him.
"Professor, what should I do?"
"There's only one thing to do in this situation, Mr Hagrid."
The professor quickly approached us and untied the strap binding Furrypaw, leaving that with only a leash. Then I climbed on Furrypaw with the signal he gave me. I sat down so that I was behind his wings.
Furrypaw suddenly started running and took off after a few steps. I panicked and grabbed the collar around Furrypaw's neck. İt ran and flew so suddenly that I didn't have time to think. This was unlike anything I'd ever felt before. I had never flown before, except flying on school brooms in first grade. The feeling of the wind hitting my face, furrypaw's wings flapping and its muscles tensing was a unique feeling. As I flew around one of Hogwarts' towers, I was sure I saw a terrified Headmaster Dippet. I think Professor Kettleburn will get another warning soon. Now my joy was somewhat overshadowed. After seeing Dippet, Furrypaw must have sensed my uneasiness because it brought me back to the classroom without wandering around too much.
As soon as Furrypaw landed, I saw the professor coming towards us.
"I hope you have a good flight, Mr. Hagrid."
"It was a very good flight, professor, but I think the headmaster saw us."
The professor froze for a moment, but then continued where he left off.
"It is not important. At most I'll get another warning. Come on, join us and let the rest of the class spend time with the hippogriffs."
"Yes, professor."
We went to the other hippogriff that the professor had brought with him.
"Hagrid, stay with Furrypaw. I'll stick with Softfeathers too. Everyone else should line up in front of the two hippogriffs and approach the hippogriffs according to the instructions I gave you earlier. It's okay to pet them if they greet you, but you're not allowed to ride them without my permission."
The end of the lesson came as everyone in the class approached the hippogriffs one by one and petted them. I'd like to say, but there will always be idiots like Malfoy. Our fool's name was Arthur Bracken. A member of a pureblood noble family from America, his family apparently wanted to establish another branch of the family here by establishing business relations with magical Britain. If everything went well, this branch would also become the head of this branch. So how do I know these, because this fool's favorite thing was to brag loudly? Even old Hagrid knew these things.
I knew the damn brat was going to cause trouble the moment he started walking towards me. How Does? While the other students approached Furrypaw timidly and shyly. Bracken walked with his nose up as if he owned the place and everyone had to kowtow to him.
As soon as I realized something was going to happen, I started casting the wild rage spell. It was quite difficult to do without a wand, but I couldn't pull out my wand for no apparent reason, and if Bracken was being stupid it would be too late. As I predicted, Bracken started talking nonsense when he was 3 meters away from Furrypaw.
"How difficult could it be!"
"They're just trying to scare us."
"This thing is actually as harmless as a chicken. Isn't that right, you overdeveloped chicken? Are you laying eggs and clucking?"
At this moment, I felt a huge burst of anger coming from furrypaw. I completed wild rage almost at the same time. While Furrypaw ran towards Bracken and attacked him, I simultaneously held on to his collar with all my strength and tried to keep him in place. Despite all my strength, Furrypaw was able to take a step or two and close the distance between him and Bracken. After hitting Bracken with his head and knocking Bracken to the ground, Furrypaw managed to shake me like crazy, throw me to another side and get me to let go of the leash. After it threw me, there was nothing left to stop him. Just as it was about to tear Bracken apart with his front claws, several chains came flying and knocked Furrypaw to the ground and tied it tightly. When I turned to see who had sent the chains, I saw an enraged Professor Kettleburn.
"What's happening in here? Someone explain to me what's going on here."
At that moment, Anna Bones started talking from the sidelines. Meanwhile, the professor was checking me and Bracken to see if we were injured.
"Professor, Bracken was the culprit. Suddenly he started insulting the hippogriff for no reason. Then the hippogriff attacked him. Hagrid tried to stop the hippogriff but failed."
The professor was red with anger. He started talking angrily.
"25 points from Slytherin and you are suspended for a week, Bracken. Also, as I said at the beginning of the lesson, if you can't follow instructions, I don't want to see you in this class. "Another mistake and you will be expelled from the course."
After taking a deep breath and calming down, he continued.
"I give Gryffindor 25 points. Everyone can now leave the classroom. I will take your friends to the hospital wing for a more detailed examination."
