Gabriel walked up to Dan, his smile still present as he spoke, "This will teach him a valuable lesson in life: never underestimate your opponent."
Dan nodded in agreement, adding, "Well, he was skilled. It's just that my agility and strength overcame his talent."
Gabriel nodded, acknowledging Dan's words. As they started to walk back into the manor, Gabriel turned to Dan and said, "Dan, I believe you will be a valuable asset to our household."
Dan turned to Gabriel and asked, "What now, City Lord?"
Gabriel replied, "With your strength and agility, I want you to spar with my other soldiers. Let them gain experience, and with your stamina, I don't think it will be a problem."
Dan nodded in agreement. "Fine by me, but I need to know what my pay is going to be and where I'll be staying for sleep, meals, and so on."
Gabriel responding, "Your pay will be fair and commensurate with your skills. As for accommodations, you will have a room within the manor, complete with meals provided by our kitchen staff."
Gabriel and Dan continued to walk around, with Gabriel leading Dan to a large room. "This will be your personal space," Gabriel explained, gesturing around the spacious area. "Next to this room will be your bedroom, complete with a bathroom. Is there anything else you need before I leave you to settle in at your own pace?"
Dan nodded and added, "Yes, I need a map of the city. Somebody stole it from me, so I have no way of knowing where to go around the city."
Gabriel nodded in understanding. "I will have somebody bring the map to your room tomorrow. If that's all, I'll take my leave. Oh, and one more thing, please refrain from walking around the manor after 10 PM. We wouldn't want to disturb the guards during their duties. Is that understood?"
Dan nodded respectfully. "Yes, City Lord. I understand," he replied, acknowledging Gabriel's instructions.
With Gabriel's departure, Dan found himself alone in his room. As he sat on the bed, he contemplated the events that had led him here. "This will be my new life," he thought to himself. With a deep sigh, he lay back on the bed, closed his eyes, and drifted into sleep
Dan was roused from his sleep by a persistent knocking at the door. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he made his way to the entrance and found a soldier waiting outside. "Hello, I am the head of all the guards. My name is Riven. I heard from Gabriel that you will be helping us," the soldier introduced himself.
Dan nodded in acknowledgment, straightening his posture. "Ah, yes. I will be in the courtyard in 2 minutes. I need to get ready," he responded briskly.
Riven handed him a map, saying, "Sir, this is the map the City Lord wanted me to give you."
Dan thanked Riven and closed the door behind him. He walked over to the wardrobe and selected some regular-looking clothes. As he dressed, he glanced out of the window, taking in the view of the courtyard, gardens, and mountains in the distance.
Dan murmured to himself, "This place is beautiful," as he admired the scenery from the window. With a final adjustment to his attire, he finished getting dressed and made his way out of the room, heading towards the courtyard.
