Chapter 15 - I want to fight alongside Rommel and Hitler

The progress of war is not determined by human will.

No matter how many people die, the enemy will not shed a single tear. They will only continue to launch new attacks whenever necessary, striving to kill more of their adversaries.

The pressure on the Third Platoon is quite intense. They face enemy attacks almost every hour, whether in large or small groups, until the situation improves by nightfall.

During the night, only sporadic sounds of artillery can be heard.

Soldiers hold their guns, enjoying the rare tranquility. Bunkerlehrer holds a Mauser rifle, constantly aiming towards the enemy position, searching for targets.

He really hopes to take out an enemy soldier, but unfortunately, the night is too dark for him to locate any targets...

Wang Weiya quietly crawls up next to him, catching Bunkerlehrer's attention. Then he hears Lieutenant Wang ask, "How about it, can you take out one?"

"It's too difficult. The night is too dark, I can't locate any targets," Bunkerlehrer regrets, shaking his head, and then lowering his rifle.

At that moment, there's a flicker of firelight from the opposite side, catching Wang Weiya's attention.

The firelight flickers again, confirming Wang Weiya's observation.

What are the enemies doing over there? Smoking? Don't they know that smoking at night makes them an easy target for death?

Wang Weiya takes Bunkerlehrer's Mauser rifle...

The wind is strong tonight... The firelight flickers again... Wang Weiya suddenly understands. There's an enemy soldier over there smoking, perhaps a sentry. But the wind is too strong, blowing out the fire several times.

He's like a sitting duck!

During the training for infiltrating the Purple Light Military Base, Wang Weiya was recognized as the best marksman among all, and now he accurately pinpoints the location of the enemy sentry. His rifle is aimed, ready to take out the sentry as soon as the fire flickers again...

In less than two seconds, the firelight flickers once more... Wang Weiya's finger is already on the trigger, but he doesn't pull it... In that instant, he comes up with a new plan...

The night is very dark, with no light at all, perhaps the moon is busy rendezvousing with some star?

Perfect opportunity!

"Hey, brothers." Wang Weiya softly calls out.

The soldiers of the Third Platoon are already accustomed to being called "brothers." They slowly gather around Wang Weiya.

"I need twenty brave soldiers." Wang Weiya's voice is not loud, but it's enough for everyone to hear. "The weather tonight is really good..."

"Is it? Why don't I feel that?" Adolf Hitler looks up in confusion.

There's no moon, no stars. Why does the Lieutenant think the weather is good?

Sergeant Hull understands Lieutenant Wang's meaning. "Lieutenant, do you plan to ambush them?"

"Yes, let's hit those British bastards and avenge poor Oriel."

Lieutenant's words immediately stir the courage of these German soldiers.

"Hey, Lieutenant, whatever you want to do, we'll follow you!" Sean, who is eager to avenge his friend, says.

"Sean, man your machine gun. We won't need you this time." Wang Weiya smiles. "The vigilance of the British soldiers isn't that high, maybe we can sneak over and recapture their position."

The soldiers become excited.

Lieutenant Wang is very bold. If the Third Platoon can recapture the enemy position with his leadership, it will be the greatest glory for the Third Platoon...

"Sergeant Hull, you're in charge here." Wang Weiya looks at the soldiers. "Bunkerlehrer, Schteck... Oh, and you, Adolf. You twenty, come with me."

As they prepare, Lieutenant Erwin Rommel unexpectedly arrives.

In today's daytime battle, Rommel's position was once in jeopardy, but Wang Weiya timely sent reinforcements to help.

Rommel has come to express his gratitude. But when he hears that Lieutenant Wang intends to raid the enemy position, he is initially surprised. "Lieutenant Ernst, isn't this too deceitful?"

Deceitful? Wang Weiya has never thought that a night ambush would be associated with deceitfulness. Upon reflection, Rommel's background is different from his own. Rommel certainly believes that a night ambush has certain "moral" issues.

"Erwin Lieutenant, I don't think there's anything deceitful about it." Wang Weiya shrugs. "Victory on the battlefield is the only goal, and no enemies will spare our soldiers because of our kindness and nobility. Just yesterday, a young soldier from my Third Platoon died, and the enemy has never shown any mercy because of his moral superiority."

"No enemies will spare our soldiers because of our kindness and nobility."

Wang Weiya's words clearly move Rommel, and he nods slightly, making an important decision. "Lieutenant Ernst, I'm willing to go with you."

Huh? He's going too? Fighting alongside Adolf Hitler and Erwin Rommel? This sounds like a very tempting proposal indeed.

In the battles between Germans and British, or Germans and French, they rarely use tactics like night ambushes, but this gives Wang Weiya the best opportunity.

To strike unexpectedly at them.

"Lieutenant Erwin, I'll have Sergeant Hull give you some grenades!"

Soon, twenty men are equipped with ample ammunition and grenades, quietly crawling out of the trenches. This night ambush is a new experience for everyone.

Especially for Erwin Rommel, who is a true gentleman and would never have thought of such a plan himself, it's only Wang Weiya.

Wang Weiya crawls at the forefront of the team, with Rommel following closely behind. He has a strong curiosity about Lieutenant Ernst, feeling that Ernst Blome is quite different from others since their first meeting.

Or, he exerts a strong attraction.

Of course, for Erwin Rommel, who is always with Ernst Blome, he doesn't really like Adolf Hitler and wonders why Ernst Blome takes such good care of the small Hitler.

The British soldiers on the opposite side haven't noticed this group of German soldiers preparing to bring them disaster.

Wang Weiya suddenly stops moving, almost colliding with Rommel who's behind him.
