Len entered the hospital room with the measured gait of someone who had been practicing controlling his emotions for a long time. Gazing around, the icy sparkle in his eyes revealed nothing of his inner turbulence that had heightened since he met Paula at the airport.
Even after spending hours in the air, he had not even slept before meeting his mother, who he knows is lying about being ill to attract his attention.
