Chapter 21 - GUNS AND LOVE

Eisley felt a warm air against her bare skin. She turned around a few more until her eyes opened. And she closed them back immediately, opening them again.

She stared at the gun by her side table for a while. She remembered it from last night. She took a deep gulp before touching it. It felt thick, a bit heavy.

She sat on the bed, staring out of the room. Her eyes darted to the gun on the table. Irwin must have left it. As Eisley's mind contemplated on whether she should hold it, she stood up and walked into the bathroom.

Irwin heard the creaking noise of footsteps against the wooden floor, and his eyes narrowed as he continued to listen. The handle of his door twisted, and he pushed his hands into the drawer by his side. The door opened, and Robert walked in.

"Mr—" he paused, staring at Irwin's arms that seemed to disappear underneath the table.

"What are you doing here, Robert?" He sighed, letting go of the gun. His eyes lowered to the book he was reading.

"We found Charles's drug dealer. He is not too far from the main mansion." Robert replied.

The book closed. Irwin looked at Robert. "Why isn't he here?"

Robert's eyes widened with shock, "Oh. I thought you might not want us to raid him. The police are also on a search for him."

"I want him first," he whispered, taking out a cigarette.

Robert nodded and lowered his head. "Mrs Kent is preparing breakfast. Maybe you should eat something first," Robert said. Irwin looked at the cigarette he had already lit, and he pressed it against a smoking plate.

"Did she?" He asked, brows furrowed.

They both stepped out of the dark office, and Irwin raised his gaze. He looked at Robert. Soon, they arrived at the dining, and confusion flashed through both their eyes.

"Nana?" Irwin called. A woman in her sixties turned back as she was about to drop a bowl of soup.

A kid looked at Irwin and whispered to Eisley in a short floral dress. "Is that him? Your husband?" Irwin's attention dropped to the little girl who went from smiling to glaring at him. "Trust me, he's a boomer."

A deep laugh rumbled out of Eisley's throat. She immediately caught herself, exhaling gently. "No, he is not," her eyes held Irwin's penetrating gaze.

Eisley cleared her throat. "I made you and something for your guys, I know they are here just like Robert is." Irwin side glanced at Robert behind him.

"Nana, how? Why?"

"Your wife was wandering in the woods and got lost—"

"Are you okay?" Irwin shifted his gaze to Eisley. He sized her quickly for any possible injury, but she walked past him with a bowl of rice.

"Aren't you hungry?" Eisley asked, but when Irwin said nothing, she turned to Nana. "Nana, I really appreciate your help," she bent to the little girl, "Why don't we see often, Sofia?"

"I'd love to," Sofia said.

They watched as Eisley dismissed them. The table was filled with beef soup and rice with some other side dishes.

"I really want to try something," Eisley said, and immediately pulled out the gun Irwin seemed to have forgotten, aiming at Irwin.

Robert immediately drew out his gun, directing it at Eisley, but not for long as Irwin's side glare was enough for him to drop the gun and move away.

Eisley turned to Robert, causing Robert to step backwards. "Love, here." Irwin signalled with his hands.

Her heart raced as Irwin walked closer to the gun she aimed. "Here, I said, love," he grabbed the gun, pointing it directly at his forehead.

Eisley attempted to drop the gun, but Irwin held her hands, firmly, aiming at his forehead still.

"What are you doing?" Eisley shivered.

"This is where you pull the trigger," he pulled it, Eisley flinched in fear, scowling at him and dropping it and moving away from him.

Her chest almost jumped out of her dress, Irwin picked up the gun and handed it to Robert. "Almost there," he wiped his hands.

"You're insane," Eisley whispered breathlessly as if she had just run a marathon.

"Robert, why don't you call the boys, and you have a little feast," Irwin grasped her wrist, dragging her into the dark office. He turned on a warm yell light.

"I'm sorry, I found it by my bed -" Eisley exhaled calmly as Irwin turned her, her back to his front, and his hands clasped around her neck.

Our eyes meet, and a silent exchange passes between them. They don't speak; Eisley remains silent, not saying a word as a rush of heat washes over her skin.

"You should have tasted the soup. I bet you'll like it," Her breath shook as she spoke. Irwin scoffed, and silence covered the room. Eisley turned around

Her gaze meets his, and she tears her gaze away and shifts it back to his face. The 'you love what you see' look in his eyes makes a complete mockery of her.

The heat waves and the silence were too much for her to take. Eisley immediately wraps her hand around his neck, and Irwin picks her up. Her lips pressed against his lips, capturing him in a wet, hot, and long kiss accompanied with gasps and pants.

As Irwin drops her on the table, something drops, and they both look to find what it is. It was another gun, almost the same as the other. Their eyes met, staring breathlessly at each other.

"How many more do you have?" Eisley whispered, "Do you go around owning guns and shooting people?"

Irwin laughed, taking her lips in a soft, gentle kiss, "No, cupcake, I don't go around shooting people," he said, lips against hers.

Irwin's lips trailed down her neck, planting more kisses and savouring her. "Teach me to shoot a gun,"

Irwin paused, staring at Eisley. His eyes glistened with so many emotions at once, happiness, pride, shock, disbelief, and amusement.

"What did you say?" He chuckled.

"I wanna know how to shoot a gun," her words came out in the softest tone and almost made Irwin pick up a gum and start lessons, but wasn't she the same person who called him insane?

"Baby girl, you'll want to crap that mindset. You dropped a gun in fear seconds ago. Don't you remember?"

"I don't want to use you as an example," She grimaced.

"Why?" Irwin asked, brushing strands of her hair behind her ears.

"Because!" Her eyes gaped and thinned, searching for a reason. "Why should I use you?"

"You're not killing me, are you?" He asked in a dangerous voice that teased her.

"Still, doesn't make any sense," she paused, sucking my lower lips. Her brows furrowed thickly, "You're my saviour," she exhaled.

Eisley sank her teeth into her bottom lip, and Irwin's hands disappeared into her dress, reaching for her underwear and about to get rid of it.

"Promise you'll teach me?" Eisley held his hands, staring into his impatient sea-green eyes.

Irwin's eyes softened, gazing at her. "Your conditions are becoming a list, sugarpie. But whatever you want,"

Eisley laughed softly. "Also, stay the night with me."

"That, I can't," He paused when he heard his phone ring. Irwin picked it up immediately, despite being in between her legs. His gaze shifted to Eisley. "I'm sorry, let me take this call."

Irwin slipped out of her grip, stepping outside before she could even say anything. The door closed after him, leaving her in a dangerous silence.

The next day, Eisley got up early and hoped to prepare breakfast, but as she opened her bedroom door. Irwin paused in front of her, fully prepared in a black shirt and trousers.

"Are you going out?" Her eyes scanned him. It wasn't the usual since they had arrived at this mansion. Irwin hasn't left, but she can't be sure.

"Yeah, we are. You said you wanted to learn how to fire a gun. That's where we are going," Eisley's eyes lit with amusement. "Aren't you going to prepare?"

She turned to enter her bedroom but remembered he might be playing some tricks on her.

"You said you weren't going to teach me. You left me hanging yesterday, you didn't eat what I cooked, and now you want to take me on a date?"

"It's not a date," Irwin clarified. She nodded, pouting nevertheless.

"Sounds like one to me. You also dressed the part," Their gaze held each other, and silence engulfed between them. Irwin frowned as trying to convince her was a little frustrating, and now she was demanding an apology.

"Listen, pumpkin, do you want to go or not?" His voice turned cold. Eisley swallowed, avoiding his bewitching look.

"Okay, fine." She darted around before entering her bedroom. She giggled, blushing and excited. "Something feminine, something light," her joys slipped from her lips, searching for an outfit.

Eisley opened her wardrobe, searching for a dress. She sighed, unable to find something.
