Chapter 194:Can You Really Have 108 Babies at Once?
Amon fell into a brief stupor.
To be honest, the pain... there was none at all. Despite Alice's fierce bite, human teeth are too fragile against mythical creatures. It should be Alice who felt the pain.
...So, is she really sick?
Amon stared blankly at Alice as she released her bite, lifted her head, and said with a tearful face, "So hard, I can't bite through."
After a moment of hesitation, Amon asked as if seeking advice, "What should I say?"
Alice was silent for a moment, withdrew her hand, sat upright, and said seriously, "Comfort me."
"?" Amon looked at Alice with an incomprehensible gaze. "I remember the last time I came, you weren't so... so..."
Amon struggled to find the right words, finally settling on, "So human-like."
Alice fell silent. She understood the implied meaning of the words—like, but not.
Alice pursed her lips, her eyes wide, and emphasized in an unsteady tone, "I am human."
"You don't even believe that yourself," Amon laughed.
Alice fell silent again, as if speaking to Amon and herself, "I am human."
"So, you don't want to kill me now?" Amon asked with interest. "I was waiting for you to try."
Alice paused slightly, then solemnly said, "No, great Time Angel, after what just happened, I deeply realize my mistake. I shouldn't offend a great and merciful deity like you. Please forgive my offense."
After a moment of silence, Amon burst into laughter.
One hand on the sofa, the other clutching his stomach, he laughed until he bent over. After a long while, he stopped laughing and sat beside Alice.
Alice jumped up in fright.
Amon looked at Alice's terrified face and laughed again, saying, "You just called me great and merciful."
Alice was silent for a moment, then sincerely said, "I don't think I'm worthy to sit on the same sofa as a great and merciful being like you."
"You're still so good with words," Amon shook his head with a smile. "You know, you're the first person to call me merciful."
Then, he looked Alice up and down and said in a tone of amazement, "The key thing is, you seem to mean it."
"Because I'm still alive..." Alice said as she moved to another sofa. "Not only alive... you haven't even truly harmed me."
After a pause, Alice added, "Compared to the Storm Lord who strikes with lightning at the mention of his name, you are indeed very merciful..."
Amon leaned back on the sofa, smiling, "That's not right—you almost died."
Alice pursed her lips and softly said, "You knew I wouldn't die before that."
Amon raised an eyebrow, looked at Alice, and suddenly leaned forward, curiously asking, "I'm really curious... with the three Sequence 1 characteristics and the 'uniqueness' of the 'Fate' pathway already taken, what exactly are you?
"Are you really a deity without both uniqueness and characteristics?
"'Monster' Miss?"
Alice suddenly found it hard to breathe. She realized that exposing her concerns in front of Amon was a bad idea—Amon would repeatedly use it to provoke her.
After a brief thought, Alice decided not to argue with Amon about this and instead asked, "Great Time Angel, I have a question for you."
"Speak," Amon raised an eyebrow.
Alice asked sincerely and curiously, "Can you really have 108 babies at once?"
"?" Amon looked at her with an incomprehensible gaze.
Alice looked at Amon and pondered, "A few days ago, I remembered something.
"In that story, you accidentally got pregnant with the Fool's child..."
"Wait," Amon interrupted Alice, sitting upright, "I got pregnant with the Fool's child?"
"Yes," Alice nodded, "and then you had 108 babies at once."
"?" Amon showed an incomprehensible expression, "If I kill you now, will no one know about this?"
Alice pondered for a moment and said, "No.
"The Fool already knows.
"Maybe also the 'Writer' who is somewhere out there?"
Amon took a deep breath.
"So," Alice asked seriously, "will you really get pregnant like a mortal and give birth after ten months? Can you really have 108 babies at once?"
"...I really want to know who that 'Writer' is, seriously." Amon's tone was very calm, seemingly devoid of any emotion.
Alice nodded in agreement, then asked again, "So can you really..."
"Shut up," Amon said coldly.
Alice burst into laughter, quickly covering her mouth when Amon looked over, but her body trembled with suppressed laughter.
Amon looked at Alice with an emotionless gaze, but the contrast made him want to laugh even more.
Well, mainly because she really believed Amon wouldn't kill her—although Amon had just hit her.
Of course, it wasn't just now—the familiar, intense pain came, and Alice's body trembled, this time from the pain.
After a while, Alice looked up, and Amon, seeing the lingering fear in her eyes, tapped the table and asked, "Still laughing?"
His tone was neither gentle nor angry, but flat and devoid of emotion. Alice realized she had truly angered the Time Angel.
Alice, who knew when to admit her mistakes, immediately restrained herself and cautiously answered, "I don't dare anymore."
Amon withdrew his chilling gaze but didn't speak further.
The atmosphere was eerily quiet. After a while, Alice couldn't bear it anymore and initiated the conversation:
"Um... Great Time Angel, why did you come to see me again?"
After thinking for a moment, she tentatively asked, "Couldn't it be because you were angered by that letter?"
"No," Amon glanced at her. His voice no longer carried that inexplicable pressure but was still emotionless, "I was just curious why you didn't use a sacrificial ritual to send it to me."
