Alsen's eyes faintly opened.
He felt weak and tired. His whole body throbbed with pain as if something that weighed 100 kilograms was on to of him.
The sun rays poured into his eyes and he shut them quickly.
He tried to move his body but the pain was unbearable.
His memory ran back to the time when he was being kicked like he stole something from a market vendor and knew exactly where the pain was coming from.
But...
Where was he?
How did his weak body manage to survive those fierce gangsters, his half brother and his boyfriend who were going to burn him to ashes?
He turned his head around, no body was their with him and he was lying on the hospital bed.
He forced his weak body to a sitting position and noticed his legs were both wrapped with splints but he didn't feel the pain.
He remembered everything that had happened before and swore to live his life well and work hard for himself.
"Alsen!"
The voice was a heartbreaking one.
As Alsen turned his head, his eyes met a pair of deep green eyes scanning him. He was wearing a white suit with an overcoat but his baby bump was still visible no matter the hard work he put in hiding it. His black short hair covered half his forehead.
"Carami?" Alsen weakly said as he scanned his friend.
Carami and Alsen had been friends since childhood but Carami had to move to another country to finish his Masters in Medicine and Surgery.
Carami walked to the bed.
He used his medical touch to check Alsen's eyes and then his heartbeat before recording in his notepad. He pulled out a chair and sat down with a questioning look on his face.
He knew everything that had happened to Alsen but what he never expected was him to be wounded and broken at the same time. Fate was sure a bitch playing people.
"What happened?" Carami asked in a worried tone.
...
After narrating the whole sad story, Alsen broke into tears.
Carami was quiet for a moment, trying as hard as he could to suppress his anger. His nails dug into her skin and his eyes turned red from the anger exploding within him.
"I will make sure to make their lives miserable. How dare they lay a hand on my precious friend?" He said through his gritted teeth .
Alsen gazed at his angry friend. He was in pain but he felt much better to have someone care for him. He felt grateful.
"No," Alsen shook his head
"What do you mean? Don't tell me you are just going to let it slide after everything they did to you? You have been lying on this hospital bed for two and half months." Cara sounded irritated.
Two and a half months?Alsen thought .
It never crossed his mind that he was here for that long . He thought about what could have happened in those months. Did his family visit him often? He bet they didn't even bother. He recalled his father's disgusted face, his brother's face full of mockery and how Teddy had lied about everything.
"Revenge is a dish best served cold." He replied .
Cara patted his back soothing before finally breaking the new to him.
"I have two news to break. Good and bad. Which one would you want to hear first?" He smiled.
"Bad." Alsen replied with a racing heart.
"Everyone thinks that you set yourself on fire. Your funeral was held a day after your death was announced to the world. There's no Alsen Bentford in this world." Cara said
That was no surprise to Alsen that they would hold his funeral a day after his death but if his mind was recalling everything right, he had no energy to run away. What could possibly have happened that day? Did Acy have a change in heart or someone else did?
"Did anyone come here while I was unconscious?" Alsen asked curious because he thought someone had brought him over here and if they did, they would check on the patients at least once a week.
"I'm not sure about that but I have noticed a change of flowers every new week. I thought it was weird but then I thought the care taker must be changing them." Cara replied
"Do care takers normally buy flowers for their patients?" Alsen raised a curious brow
Carami shook his head.
"Anyway, what are the good news?" He asked
Cara smiled and brought Alsen's hand into his "Congratulations on your pregnancy. You are two months and half." He giggled but then something crossed his mind
"Don't tell me it's for that prick?"
Alsen fearfully looked at Carami and then placed a hand over to his tummy.
His hands shivered as he did so and his Pheromones started getting out of control. They were rather weaker than usual due to the change in his hormones and body.
He stared at his tummy for seconds before closing his eyes, tears started flowing on its own and before he knew it he was sobbing .
That was something he less expected.
Why?
Why did it have to be him of all the people?
The reality stared him in the face. He had nothing to his name and now he was supposed to take care of his health and the baby growing inside him. He could barely move his body and what was next.
Carami looked at him, studied him psychologyically before he pulled him into a friendly hug.
"What do I have to do now, Cara? What am I gonna do about myself ? What about the baby? What do I have to do?" He cried.
Cara didn't say anything but rubbed his back.
Alsen thought about what his life could be from now on. He thought about the possibilities of surviving in the cruel world without a penny. Of all the things, he never thought of getting rid of the baby.
"I will always be by your side." Cara promised and Alsen nodded.
