Amyra's powers were different than Aria's, as she had explained she had the affinity of mana itself, which was the most basic form of energy that every other magic was based on, this meant that she could see things beyond anything as long as there was mana beyond and mana was present in most places. When Amyra moved closer to Ash, she let her senses become sharper and sharper until her eys stopped seeing the normal world and could now see the mana in the fabric of the world, Ash was now only an outline in which mana flowed in and out of. It was blue, and everyone had a different colored mana according to their powers or personality, blue was usual for water types, but since she had seen the lightning sword, she could see that this blue was a bit darker and the flow more turbulent.
There were also a couple more shades here and there, which was ordinary for most people, but blue was the dominant one. She then tried to see where the blockages were, there were the usual ones, she had seen a lot of times before in most men, then she saw a particularly big knot from which a large amount of mana was trying to burst out, it was right between his legs, she had seen this a couple of times before, mostly with teenage boys.
Amyra was glad it wasn't something serious, she was also a bit embarrassed it had been a while since she had thought about another man like that. But this was a human, she was already an outcast in her society, and she shouldn't think about it.
Amyra moved back in her chair, her eyes returning normal and Ash's face returning to him.
"Did you see anything?" asked Ash.
"Yes, I did, first what I want to ask you is, who is the elf you have been sleeping with?" Amyra asked folding her hands.
Ash felt stupid, why didn't he think before she could find out something like that, it was supposed to be a secret, already two more people knew about it.
"It's no one, I haven't slept with anyone yet," said Ash.
"Well that is the problem, you need to, your condition doesn't have an official name, but they call it blue balls sometimes, so who has blue balled you, was it the dark elf I saw you with?" asked Amyra.
Ash had no idea what to do once more.
"It is her then, what happened, she left you in the middle and changed her mind," she asked.
"No we were interrupted," he said.
"Well I don't know if that's good or worse, what were you thinking, it won't matter to you but it will ruin her reputation in society, don't take me wrong, I think it's perfectly fine two adults doing whatever they want, but our society is quite cruel," she said.
"It was her decision, she can be stubborn," he said.
"Well you need to find a better place to blow your steam off next time, and I guess since it was your first time, you were too pent up," she said.
"Don't tell anyone about this," he said.
"I know, and nobody would listen to me anyway," she said.
"Thank you for the tea," said Ash getting up.
"When will the goblins attack next?" she asked, getting up a bit more urgently.
"They say, the death toll would be much more next time," she said.
"We don't know, maybe tomorrow, maybe next day, but we'll have reinforcements," he said.
"I want to help, do you think you can do something, they'll need all the healers on hand, and trust me I am better than most they have got," she said.
"I'll ask someone, but I can't promise, nobody listens to me too," he said.
"Then you know how I feel, everybody treats me like a stranger too, maybe if I got a chance I could show them that I am something more than my mistake," she said.
"Is there no place where you can go?" he asked.
"No, this was the best city for us, since it's on the border, there are a lot of people from different cities here, they aren't that concerned by other's matters, but we'll have to leave the city now, and I will be an outsider anyway in every place, and on top of that with my past I am no good than a criminal, in wars, criminals aren't priorities, they won't let refugees like us in the big cities crowding their streets," she said.
"What about Kevin?" he asked.
"Kids are raised differently here, Kevin will soon go to live at an academy, he'll stay there for most of his time, it's better for him any way that he isn't associated with me," she said.
"Then if you want, you can come to the human kingdom, you said you wanted to visit it anyway, you can stay with my parents, they won't say no, the humans and elves are talking to increase their relations, and if all of this pans out okay, I expect much more elves coming in the human kingdom soon," he said and left before she asked any more questions.
Ash felt extremely weird now, how had he just walked in the night, wound up meeting someone like her and hearing her whole life story, and then promising her something he wasn't sure of?
"Where the hell did you go?" Maya jumped out from the dark when Ash had almost reached the building he had left before.
"Did you take care of the guy?" he asked.
"Yeah and I even checked out this tunnel of theirs and informed Father about it, he is trying to contact Ronin or Captain Akash to figure out what to do, Gurg had everyone rattled, my father doesn't usually lose his composure against too many people," she said.
"What are we doing now?" he asked.
"Nothing, I am to bring you to them if they get the mirror working, till then we should get some rest," she said.
"Yeah, you should go to sleep," he said.
"What about you?" she asked.
"I'll go sleep in the men's dorm in the guard house," he said.
"I am supposed to keep a watch on you," she said.
"I know and you won't get any sleep like that, I am fine here now, you were gone for half an hour, and nothing happened, you should go sleep, I can take care of myself," he said.
"Fine, but go sleep in the main dorms on the upper levels, if anyone from our party is resting then they should be there," she said and he left.
The top floor had more rooms, with much better beds, and most of the doors were open, Ash went around taking a look to find an empty room, these were for both men and women. Which wasn't good for him now, he didn't want to get riled up again, after calming down by drinking Amyra's tea. He found a nice spot under an overgrown tree that had made its way through the floor of the building, and they hadn't bothered to cut it and sat down and closed his eyes waiting for sleep to come.
