Chapter 11: Nothing to harm me (1)
Bei Shang woke up to the scent of rice porridge.
It was a teenage girl carrying the breakfast; her long Sliver hair was put into a careless plait, and her face was gentle and round giving anyone the instinct to give her soft pats, she was petite and chubby giving her that extra cute charm.
Seeing Bei Shang staring blankly at her, She mumbled good morning and placed the food in front of him.
"Does Mitch's mom like this form of mine?"
Bei Shang raised an eyebrow " hmmm?"
"Mitch likes me better in my wolf form; so I only transform into a mortal whenever I need to do things around the house " Iran twirled around in her gown, her face filled with childish innocence " I too also like this mortal form, I get to wear pretty dresses "
"...." Oh no wonder she's familiar…
Bei Shang took his spoon and started to eat; His chewing was pretty slow.
"Where's Mitch?"
"He's in the garden with the General " She sat down at the foot of the bed; her brown eyes twinkling " You know... I know you are not Mitch's mom "
Bei Shang spoon paused midway. There was a short silence before he looked her in the eye.
"What made you say that?"
"You don't smell like him at all…Where is Mitch's real mom ?"
So the wolf was also just as clueless.
He lowered his eyes and continued his feeding, it was amusing how he have only spent a day in the house and someone has managed to fish him out as the fake.
"How long have you been in the family?"
"For 5 years but I just reached enlightenment last year "
For a demon that was snobbish yesterday, she sure is talkative and transparent.

"Okay "
A long while later, Iran prodded him with a finger; her face was filled with anticipation " I thought you wanted to tell me where Mitch's mom is "
"When did I say I wanted to tell you anything?"

Bei Shang ate the last spoon of rice porridge and placed the tray back in Iran's hands "Thank you for the food "
Iran carried the plate to the kitchen with resentment. She felt that Mitch's mom was a little mean, First hitting her with a lamp yesterday, now tricking her...
Bei Shang waited till the girl was gone before going outside.
The air was clean and the environment was refreshing; if it was the mortal realm, this place had the potential to be a tourist attraction.
He felt a weight on the side of his leg. A small white fox was nudging his head against him; his blue eyes seemed to be screaming ' pat me! '
Bei Shang carried the fox and placed it gently in his arms; then he scratched the chin with his finger.
The fox made a soft noise and relaxed against him; Five phantom tails appeared and moved along with the wind.
"How did you know that the fox was Mitch?"
Bei Shang raised his head. Nick for the first time was not wearing a hoodie and was now wearing a white t-shirt; his white hair was not tied and was left free to frame his face, and his eyes were in a sleepy squirt making him look lazy.
He lowered his head back and concentrated on rubbing Mitch's belly.
"I don't know.." He patted his nose gently " Perhaps it's the fact I didn't feel malicious intent "
There was a soft noise of approval. Bei Shang rocked the fox like a baby then raised his head.
Nick had moved closer when he wasn't paying attention; he stared at him deeply before putting a lock of Bei Shang's hair at the back of his ear.
Bei Shang raised a hand and tapped his wayward fingers "Stop trying to use enchantment magic on me "
Nick didn't put his fingers down, instead, his hands move slowly downwards towards the back of his neck. His voice was soft.
"Bei Shang, do you still need to call Nayima?"
There was a thick silence before Bei Shang left with an "ah", He dropped Mitch in Nick's open arms and ran into the house.
However, standing in the middle of the sitting room was a young woman. She looked like the feminine version of Nick, with White hair, blue eyes, and a feminine face; she was also in a short tight white dress.
The only thing different was that if Nick's aura was that of a mild, gentle demon and Mitch's aura was that of an innocent and sweet demon; hers was that of a dynamic, ruthless demon.
Bei Shang always trusted his intuition when it came to first impressions; without thinking he moved closer to the door for safety.
However he was still too slow, she appeared in front of him and held his chin; her mouth in a tight frown as she moved his face left and right.
"His aura is all over you…."
Boom!
Bei Shang found the lady move from harassing his face to being nailed on the wall of the sitting room.
Nick sounds irked "Who asked you to touch him?"
Kate pulled herself from the cracks and shook the dust off her body.
"Way to welcome me " She stared at Bei Shang again but this time she didn't try moving closer "You didn't have to be that harsh, you know?"
Mitch climbed out of his dad's arm and went to nudge his nose against his aunt's leg.
Kate picked up the fox with a straight face and started patting it " Mitch you are so small; not royal-like at all "
Nick rolled his eyes "He's only 8 yrs old; let him live "
"I'm just commenting on his growth " She snapped and put him down "Mitch dear, can you go play in the garden?"
Mitch looked reluctantly at Bei Shang before nodding his head and leaving.
Kate sat down on the arm of the chair, her eyes still on Bei Shang " Who is he?"
" How did you know he's a 'he' ?"
"He has the body of a woman but the soul of a man " Kate looked at him up and down again "He looks a lot like Xingfu… so much it's like they're twins"
"They are twins " Nick placed a hand on Bei Shang's shoulder and pushed him gently towards the door " Can you go on a walk with Mitch? "
Bei Shang was already feeling uncomfortable so he didn't hesitate to leave the room.
"This is the first time I'm seeing you being overprotective of a mortal, is this the reason you hasten Xingfu's death?"
Nick didn't say a word, instead, he went towards the kitchen.
"Orange juice or apple juice?"
Kate's lips twitched; at first glance, her brother looks obedient and easy to bully. With his easy smile and hospitable nature, no one will suspect that he's a general that once killed an entire family for not producing the person that killed a little child or scaring his rival face because he stole his sword.
Or like in the fate of Xingfu, indirectly killing her because she tricked him into having sex with her.
"I'm still waiting"
Despite her being stronger with her status as a Queen, she knows Nick sways best to sweet talk than to force.
"Orange juice "
"Hmmm"
She has to find a way to bring it up to him. Nick prefers the mortal realm to the demon realm, besides this realm mellows him out; at least he didn't try breaking her arm when she messed with his ….man?
Crack!
There was the sound of shattered glass in the kitchen.
"Autumn, anything the matter?"
"I can't feel my aura on Bei Shang" His voice was so soft, Kate had to strain her ears " I have to find him…"
Oh …. that's why his aura is so thick on him.
"Let me go find him for you "
"No, I'll do it myself " The look on his face was dark " You can take the side dishes in the refrigerator and pop it in the microwave"
He was already gone before Kate could comment about not knowing how to use a microwave.
