Chapter 21: Is this what love is supposed to be?

After their daughter's birth, the oak tree's vitality seemed to wane. His vibrant and robust stature began to wither like a forgotten relic as if the precious gift bestowed upon them just sucked the life out of him like a plague. 

The life force that flowed within his ancient veins had been drained leaving him feeble and frail, soon causing him to return to the soil like a wilted branch as if it meant to be.

Devastated, the Celestial Queen took drastic measures in a desperate attempt to save her husband. 

Elara sealed her domain, erecting towering walls to shield the tree's branches and digging mystical springs to nourish its roots. She remained steadfast by her husband's side, refusing to abandon him. 

But her devotion sparked concern among her subjects, who whispered of her neglecting her throne.
