Helena nodded, and then they split up. There were some survivors on each side of the walls, so splitting them like that wasn't a terrible idea… it wasn't one of the best either. Before long, Helena reached the southern wall and then gulped when she saw a sea of zombies.
The zombies that plagued the area were of the running type. While they weren't particularly tough or strong, their real threat emerged when they were left alone. Given enough time, these zombies could mutate into all kinds of horrific forms. Some would grow stronger and more resilient, and others might develop new, deadly abilities like being able to shoot fire through their mouths. Their potential for rapid mutation made it imperative to deal with them swiftly before they could evolve into even greater threats.
