It was midnight when Jason woke up. He tried to sleep for fifteen more minutes, but he failed, so he decided to do something useful with his free time. He went to his garage and then looked for his flashlights. At the same time, he grabbed a bunch of other tools that could help him.
He couldn't use Most of the things he found there since they were too big, but they were also things that Jason's father left to him. Workbench, power tools, air compressor… he knew how to use all of them since he was an unsociable kid during his teen years, and he could only play so many video games before getting bored.
"I guess I can make this my workshop… now I just need a vehicle," Jason thought and then left his home.
Since most of the people who died on the streets tried to escape on foot, there were plenty of vehicles that could be used. Jason decided to bottom them forever, but he had difficulty finding a suitable one with its keys nearby.
"Not bad, neighbor…" Jason said, nodding in admiration when he found a Jeep with a cargo compartment attached to the back.
The Jeep Wrangler that he found had a boxy and muscular silhouette that exuded a sense of adventure and off-road capability. Its overall design was characterized by clean lines and a robust stance. The body of the Wrangler is built with durable materials and was known for its removable doors, roof, and windshield, offering an open-air driving experience.
At the front, the Wrangler is instantly recognizable with its signature seven-slot grille, often finished in contrasting colors. The grille is flanked by round LED headlights on either side, providing good visibility. Below the grille, prominent fog lights are integrated into the front bumper, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions.
Jason found the vehicle's keys nearby and then took them out of storage. That one will definitely climb some hills… as long as Jason doesn't try to carry one of those colossal bosses.
"Fuel has a limited shelf life… so I guess I should stock it," Jason thought when he parked the jeep in front of his house. "Maybe I should look for an electric car and some solar panels… but this area is pretty hard to gather solar energy."
Finding all that in his city was probably impossible. It was only a midsized one, after all. While Jason didn't have to leave the place immediately, he wouldn't find those things easily if he took his time leaving the place.
"Well, maybe I can learn a fly spell with my weapon or something, then I won't have to worry about pesky things such as vehicles," Jason thought while he was taking the fuel of the vehicles of the area. "Speaking of convenient things. Having an inventory also will come in handy…"
Jason worked until morning gathering fuel. At least he knew that it would last him for a few days. After finishing that job, he went to his house to eat something. He couldn't cook anything, but he had some fruits that would last for a few days and cookies.
"I never had much of a sweet tooth, but I guess I will have to endure this," Jason thought.
While he was eating some apples, Jason checked the area around the city… the sun was starting to show up, but it looked like, thanks to the forest, the mist would take a while to vanish. It rains a lot around that time of the year, so it was a problem.
"There are a lot of vehicles around because of the forest… no one can drive through it," Jason thought. "I need to clear a path for the jeep."
Jason did that by using his ax and Fireball. Knocking them down was easy, moving them from the way alongside the roots? Not so much. Still, it had to be done… to gain time, someone usually would have to sacrifice some of it as well.
Around noon, Jason finished that work, and he felt accomplished and troubled at the same time… he only killed a few magic zombies; how come his area wasn't being attacked again?
That was convenient, as it was troubling. Jason was at level forty-nine, after all. He was probably ahead of all humans, very far ahead. Still, he wanted to keep a safe distance since the system greatly rewarded those who did things first.
After finishing the work, Jason began to drive to the previous area he had been to. He wanted to level up and test his job skills as well. He thought that he could easily make something out of the clubs that the orcs used. Still, he also wanted to check the effects of the things he could make using their body parts. It was going to be disgusting work, but he would have to use their bones.
"I don't need any more weapons, so… how can I make defensive gear out of bones?" Jason thought while he was driving. "I will look really edgy using equipment made of bones. It hasn't been that long since I was a teenager, but the previous me wouldn't mind that at all. Feel the cringe!"
With such thoughts, Jason returned to the precious area, and then he saw the orcs pulling the vehicles of the area toward West, where their base was supposed to be…
