Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 And a message from the author.

"You let a bloody demon enter our camp… A demon, of all things"

"He's not a demon, you know? "Ferro sits on his small throne while looking at the couple of goblins in front of him. They were almost identical, two males of gray hair, small scars across their ugly faces, one of them has a short, messy beard. Ferro has learned to easily difference them one from another, after all, The Lep brothers were not only the strongest warriors of the tribe, but also, his main obstacle as the chief.

"It looks like one" Rep, the goblin with the messy beard, stood in front of Ferro's "How do you let him enter so easily?! And even accept it?! You cross a line… Even i thought that you would have some sense"

"My son's decision are our rule. You have no business being here" Honma's stands firmly, holding her staff as she stares at the goblin brothers with a cold look in her eyes.

"He's only our leader because of you. If you and that bitch of Cressa weren't magic users, WE were the ones in charge of this tribe" Per voice is harsh and has a malicious tone with it. A tone that Ferro dislikes.

"Do not disrespect my mother" Ferro stands and face the brothers, as he crosses his arms "I was fairly chosen by our people"

"You only were chosen because we were lost after the orc's attack…and because your mother is the only shaman who's left." Rep pointed at him with his crooked fingers. " If we haven't been lost during that time… We would be the ones leading our people!"

"Yet you aren't, so stop questioning me" The goblin chief tries his best to maintain composure, but the brothers' constant interference and how they question his decisions is a pain in the ass.

"We will stop questioning you when you make some good decisions!" Per give a couple of steps to face him, But Honma uses her staff to block his way. "We didn't say anything when you move the camp or when we free our slaves… But letting a demon inside our tribe?! You're nuts!"

"I bet that you just let him enter to suck his cock." Rep laughs hard as he teases Ferro, who clenches his fists, containing his anger.

These assholes are the worst! They don't like anything! Whatever I do, they criticize it! Ferro hated them with great fervor. All the time, the brothers teased him and mocked how he managed the tribe. They get on his nerves.

"Well, what do you suggest I do with him?"

The brothers look at each other. Ferro knew that look in their eyes, and he didn't like it at all. An expression that seek mindless violence, the same violence that had let his tribe to ambush a group of orcs, which even if it turned out well, it brought the attention of an even bigger orc clan. An orc clan that ended up killing half of the tribe, with his father falling in battle against a couple of orcs. Ferro, who had witnessed the massacre, was scared of it repeating itself. The feminine leader has been tried to guide his people through more…diplomatic means, freeing the few slaves that they had and banning fights as a way of resolving conflicts. Unfortunately, his followers weren't really happy with his new laws, and often criticize it for it, specially the Lep brothers.

"I'm not going to order you to kill him, or provoke violence against him" He says. The truth is that he didn't know the abilities of the Otlan, he might be weak, as he didn't appear to be problematic and was submissive towards Cressa and his mother. Yet he could be putting and act, and deceiving them to attack whenever he had the chance.

I have to value his nature first. If I allow them to attack him, who knows what tricks does he have under his sleeves…

"Bah! You are a coward!"

"Call me whatever you want, but I'm not going to let you attack him. Only for this time i ask you both to trust me and my plans. I'm your leader"

The brothers frown at the leader. This time, Ferro didn't let his eyes tremble, as he maintains his stare at the brothers. Honma looks at them, the tent is filled with a soft tension. Ferro knew that they could attack them, but the intervention of his mother and her spells are enough for protecting them both.

But then, Rep just spits on the floor and leaves the tent in silence, his brother follows him and soon, Ferro is alone with his mother. He sits down on the floor and sighs, with one hand on his forehead.

"What i'm going to do?..."

"I knew letting that stranger into the tribe will cause trouble" Her mother says with a condescended tone. "It doesn't matter that he's Aryss's lover, knowing that you have been having problems with our people, letting a strange enter the tribe without surveilling him first, was a bad decision. Even if Cressa used her shadow eye spell on him"

Like most of the time, his mother is right. Ferro knew that he took a risky decision by letting the Otlan roam free across the tribe. Soda was unknown to them… But the leader had a plan. And that was to make him an ally.

As Cressa had told him several times, Otlan's aren't really common on that side of the world. According to her, most of the time they didn't leave their clans, making them a real rarity to see. And they have the ancient blood of demons flowing through their veins, which legends told that bare raw power, and it makes them stronger. If Ferro could turn him into an ally, no one in the tribe would question his leadership. Also, he's kind of handsome, maybe if he got tired of Aryss...

He cares his mother's cheek with his small hand. The poor woman has suffered through much, the lost of her husband, her friends, and know to suffer her own son's careless decisions. She

"Mom, I'll make him our Ally... To protect us" The feminine leader hug his mother, resting his face on her chest. Honma stares at him for a few seconds, before petting his head.

"What I'm going to do with my careless son..." She says, with a slight worry tone on her voice.

"Im not going to let goblins like the lep's to continue mocking us." Ferro says, trying to sound as mature as possible. "I'll do everything to guide this tribe to the right path. I need you to trust me"

"All my faith and trust is in you, my son. But you cannot order me to not be afraid of what your decisions might cause. I just want to protect you"

Ferro nods slightly, and

I'll have to convince him somehow, I wonder how...

And then, Soda ended the psychic connection. Fortunately, the telepathy had worked, and he had been hearing the Ferro's thought while hiding and listening to the conversation. Sure, he had to stay behind and maybe lost the breakfast, but the information was way more valuable. Now he knows that Ferro has problems with some of the goblins (Which he had guessed before, given how not many of them listen or seem to respect him) and he wanted his trust to have more power on his side. It seems that his time there is going to be fun.
