Jane's inner joy subsided to an unease state when Old Madam Morris glared at her.
"I don't care whatever reason it was, but I won't tolerate filthy words about the dead. The dead should be respected too," Old Madam Morris said firmly before shifting her gaze to meet Zane.
"The group needs an heir and people age with time. Your wedding to Jane is set for two weeks from now. Your engagement party will be in six days since you both didn't have a proper engagement party yet." She added.
"Grandmother, you arranged our engagement without my consent. So let me decide on the wedding date," Zane said, sounding upset he had to marry Jane so suddenly.
"Zane, you can't hurt her anymore. She had been waiting for your return to give her an heir," Jane's calm voice chimed in, wrapping her arms around Zane's arm.
"I'm not hurting my grandmother. It's just that…" Zane was cut off by his grandmother's solemn decision.
