Chapter 2 - Mistress

Selina understood the earlier she told, the better it would be, and there would not be a room of weird thoughts of misunderstanding between them.

It had been a month since they both had intimacy, and Zane's presence at home was difficult to notice. Selina had no choice but to tell him now, even if it was in his office.

As she opened her mouth to speak, Zane stood up from his seat when he answered an incoming call.

"Hey. Are you okay?" Zane said in a tender tone to his caller.

"No, Honey. I have been waiting for you at the hotel. I'm exhausted." A soft feminine voice answered and sounded upset over the phone.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting. Just wait for me at the hotel; I will be there right away," Zane pleaded with her before he ended the call and dashed out of his office, not minding Selina's presence.

Selina stood there and wondered who that person was to make Zane leave in a haste like that. However, she couldn't get a hint about it since the one who stole his love and time from her wasn't in the country.

"Maybe some other day, I will share the news with him," Selina muttered, her gaze lowered to her tummy with a smiling face.

She lowered the lunch pail on his desk there. She wasn't sure if he would return to his office tonight, though she couldn't take the meal home that she made for him.

Selina left his office and drove away from his company.

After a long drive, she drove into Zane's mansion and tried to have a nap, but she couldn't fall asleep.

She came out of the master bedroom and went to the kitchen to fetch some cookies from the fridge she was craving.

As Selina was striding to the kitchen, she halted her steps, and a frown settled on her face when she saw a young lady beside Zane.

It was Zane's mistress, Jane, the woman he couldn't get over in his life no matter what happened.

Selina found out about Zane and Jane's secret affair after a year of her marriage with him. She was sure their relationship had lasted for a long time before she married him because it was clear how he treated Jane differently from other women.

Jane raised her gaze and saw Selina a distance ahead of her. She could tell Selina didn't look happy with her presence, but it didn't bother her.

"Hey, Mrs. Morris." Jane greeted her with an innocent smile.

Selina ignored Jane's fake pleasantry. "What is she doing here?" She asked, confused at the slut who had the gut to step into their home.

She wasn't pleased with Jane's presence in her marriage, but she couldn't dare to complain when Zane strictly warned her never to say ill words about his relationship with Jane.

"Jane would live with us for a while. She cannot stay alone because she needs care and attention." Zane replied in his usual frosty tone.

"Here is not a free home to accept her and shower care on her." Selina said firmly, and Zane only stared at her, a little stunned at her reaction. "I'm not her friend or relative to do that. She looks healthy to take care of herself. Then, why should I accept her here?"

Jane chuckled as she said. "I know Zane hasn't been direct with you. Anyway, he means I will live here because I'm carrying his child." She pointed at her flat belly with a sly smile at the sight of the devastating look on Selina's face.

Hearing Jane's announcement, Selina was dumbstruck for a short time as though she had misheard her.

With a confused expression at him, shebinquired. "Is J-Jane pregnant?"

"Jane is pregnant with my child. It won't be an issue for either of us as long as the baby is mine." Zane answered, and his voice didn't leak regret or shame.

"Why make me feel guilty about something I could have done, too? What about my dreams with you, Zane?" Selina's eyes were already moist, tears threatening to fall at his ruthless answer that broke her heart into pieces.

Zane took a step closer to her and replied. "I can't ask her to get rid of my first child in her tummy because of you, Selina. Don't exaggerate this matter and accept things have turned out this way."

"How do you expect me to accept her when you told me you aren't ready to have a child, and I have been waiting patiently for your consent to have babies together? Despite that, you went to impregnate her! Does my patience mean nothing?" She asked, her voice choking while she was feeling excruciating pain in her chest, struggling to control the pain and sadness to overwhelm her.

However, it was futile as she let the pain take over her chest. It was a great weight of betrayal that engulfed her heart she had long endured and wished it wouldn't last, but that wish wouldn't come true.

Her worst nightmare had finally come true. A nightmare for another woman to give birth to her husband's child.

Though it seemed pointless to share her eager pregnancy news with him, he seemed content in choosing Jane over her.

"All you have to do is take care of her." Zane said cold-heartedly with a smirk that appeared on his lips as he enjoyed the pain enveloping her.

"That's never going to happen in this home! Take her somewhere else and raise the child together, I don't care!" Selina declared, glaring at Jane, who was sitting on Zane's lap.

"On whose order would she listen to?"

"On my order because I am your wife, Zane. She is just a mistress and can't live with us," Selina retorted without trembling in his intimidating stare at her.

She knew it would be troublesome and insulting to her if Jane went through her pregnancy in her home. She loves Zane even when their marriage might have meant nothing to him, but it meant a lot to her for such a filthy person as Jane to live in her marital home.
