After some time, I entered my office and sat down at my desk.
I started up my HoloGram and called Representative Davis.
After 20 seconds the picture of Davis popped up.
"Ah, greetings my lord. Sorry for being late I was pissing." He said slightly embarrassed.
"It's fine Representative Davis." I said trying to keep my chuckle in. It was so obvious he was embarrassed and uncomfortable that it was funny.
"Wel, how is the progress?" I asked.
"Well, it is kind of difficult due to the Senate's idiotic placement in terms of how many senators there are." He said as I went over the senate system in my mind.
( Warning, most of this is made up because we don't have a lot of specifics )
The Senate is kind of like the Galaxy, each area of the galaxy has its own factions, and the area you are situated confirms your position in the Senate.
Firstly we have the Senatorial Core. Made up of planets important to the Republic and the Senators representing the early worlds, mostly the deep core, core, colonies, and inner rim. The expansion region also has a few senators within the core, such as Umbarans, etc. This is a total of a bit over 1000.
In the movies and series, you always see the Senatorial Core, and there are a bit over 1000 seats in that hall, representing each planet or sector from this area. This is where the big corporations get a seat as well alongside unique and important planets from outside the 4 main areas of the galaxy.
Then there is the general senate. This includes Mid Rim, Outer Rim, and the known regions of the unknown regions.
The general Senate was made up of more than 95% of the Senate. The general senate had about 24000 members while the Core had 1000.
It was this idiotic system that defined planets based on their region that allowed the Separatist Movement to gain so much influence within less than a short decade. This is also why the Empire worked so extremely well.
Although in the movies the Emperor got a round of applause from the Core Senate. But most likely it was just a farce, barely a few moments after the Empire's formation Palpatine killed 2000 extremely important senators, representatives, and leaders, from both the Core and General.
The General was so excluded due to them joining the Republic late and being found later than the core. So when a new thing was formed, wouldn't they be of equal standing to the core? As they were a part of the founding planets.
This way of desperate mindset was what cleared the ground for Palpatine and his Empire, and it was what caused the decades and centuries of bloody times in the Galaxy.
"Well, I've gotten about 200 Core Senators, mainly being planets who want to be our priority clients badly and won't hold if Zaltin gives them counter-offers. I also have about 1500 general senators whose planet and governments have been betrayed, attacked, overtaken, paid out, bribed, and all sorts of offenses who want revenge.
Lastly, about 9300 general senators want us to prioritize them. So we have about 2000 that will stay with us through and through and about 8000 that can backstab us." He said.
While this wasn't exactly bad, both I and Davis knew this wouldn't hold. For every unhappy client Zaltin had, they had 10 strong happy ones.
And as such our 2000 would crumble compared to their more than 6000 happy and loyal customers. Meanwhile we had the advantage due to our recent rising so many other planets who wished to be blessed similarly to us wanted to make us owe them one.
Many will think we do when they support us, and having 8000 people think we owe them something isn't exactly the brightest idea.
"Alright, round them up alongside the best lawyers you can find and begin planning for our case against them. We are currently attacking their multiple outposts and locations throughout the Galaxy." I said and he nodded seriously. This was his most important assignment since becoming a Representative.
"Understood, Count Thalron. I'll make sure to get to it as fast as possible!" He exclaimed and I nodded.
"Good, I'll contact Valorum and move on after that." I said as I cut the connection.
Now, Supreme Chancellor Valorum should be a good help now that Mas Amedas isn't actively whispering shit into his ears, and the assassination hasn't happened yet so his support and strength should still be amongst the top 3-2.
Now, the main question would be. Will the final trial be held by the Judiciary Committee, before the Core Senate or the Galactic Senate.
The 1st would likely be the best outcome as the jury and the judges of the Galactic Senate were somewhat fair and weren't as corrupt as the Senate. But if Zaltin successfully bribed them then we would be royally fucked.
The Core Senate would also be quite good, however it would likely require me to make a promise of putting down the prices of bacta. And the case would take months, maybe years to fulfill which I honestly did not want to entertain.
The general senate was the worst out of the 3 options. Too many uncontrollable variables.
If the vote was held by the general senate, the battle wouldn't happen in the court or voting chambers. No, the battle would happen in every single meeting room. It would be about convincing all the different groups. And it would require me to give promises, and it would cause a serious financial strain. It would be manageable, but it would set us back with billions. Even a 10% decrease could lead to a loss in the trillions.
I entered a new code onto my HoloComms and it began making a low beeping voice, similar to that of the mobile phone on earth.
I had to wait an entire 10 minutes for Chancellor Valorum to pop up.
This wasn't the TV show where the Jedi Council and Palpatine conveniently always were either standing before a HoloComm or already in a meeting through the HoloNet.
Kinda pissed me off not going to lie but it is what it is.
"Ah, Count Thalron. What can I do for you?" He said. He didn't entertain the grandfatherly figure of Palpatine but instead went straight to the point. Palpatine would probably ask how you are and start a conversation.
"Your Excellency. I discovered a plot against Thyferra, the Republic, and House Veridian." I said and he immediately became serious. This wasn't a light accusation.
"Hmm…. Please, tell me what you have found out." He said as I knew I had his full attention.
"As you may know, my Father, the previous lord of House Veridian and Count of Thyferra was assassinated approximately a bit over half a year ago. 5 months ago we hunted down the party responsible for the execution of my father's assassination. A pirate gang situated on a Moon 2 clicks away from Thyferra." I said as I took a slight break.
"Responsible for the execution of the assassination…. I suppose you mean someone else is the mastermind?" He asked and I nodded.
"Aye, we took over the moon and the pirate gang and interrogated their leader and top Lieutenants. We found out that they were hired by 2 corporations to cause chaos in Thyferra by killing my father and then raiding our crafts. Which was done by forming up on the moon." I said and he immediately caught on.
"2 corporations, huh. And I suppose the only 2 corporations that would gain enough to risk something like this would be the bacta corporations, no? Or their alliance as the Bacta Cartell." He said, narrowing his eyes.
"Aye, we have deduced those 2 parties are responsible, and we are taking action against them immediately." I said, and he narrowed his eyes even more. Don't know how he does that.
"Hmm, but if my memory is correct Xucphra is headquartered at Thyferra and therefore under the Thyferran government. And as such I suspect you are coming to me to deal with the international Zaltin corporation?" He asked.
"Yes. Zaltin has been here for a long time and they have thousands of connections, additionally, they are international so we can't take any direct actions against them." I said and he nodded.
"I suppose you wish to sue them? Or take it up with the Senate… Why not just stop selling to them, they would die out." He asked.
"We could do that. But I want to begin selling bacta directly instead of being the supplier. And to do that I need them out of the way. Additionally, their customers and clients would help speed us up." I said.
"Which leads me to my question. How would this be proceeded? Through the Judiciary Committee, the Core Senate or the General Senate?" I asked as he took out his DataPad and began checking it.
He also discussed it silently with Mas Amedas.
"Hmmmm. Usually, it would be taken up with the Judiciary Committee. Which it will without a doubt. However, it will be manually transferred to the Core Senate due to the Republic's involvement. Bacta is the core medical component in the Republic Medical Department, and if the bacta would stop being sold we would enter into a crisis." He said, and I nodded.
"The Core Republic Planets would also use this opportunity to gain favor with you or have you owe them. Which is why it will without a doubt be transferred. There is also a slim chance it gets transferred further to the general senate, however, that will be strictly defended against by the Core Senators as they would lose their worth in the face of 25,000 other Senators. And you would transfer your focus onto groups and not individuals." He said and I nodded inwardly. I completely agree with him. This is the most likely outcome. A fight between us and Zaltin with the 1000 important senators.
"However this is just an estimate and I cannot guarantee anything. If 2 of the 4 large factions gang together to keep your case in the Judiciary Court then it will stay there, however, 2 could also team up to send it straight to the General Senate. However, that's unlikely as when the General Senate is involved 15 different factions are stronger there. As in the Core, quality is important while in the General quantity is important." He said.
He was correct. In the Core, the word of the Alderaan Senator was much more than that of the Boiyuh planet. But there were probably no more than 2 groups of less than 10 members in the General Senate that could even consider fighting Alderaan. Even less for Eriadu and other Core Military Planets.
"I see, well I'll be officially suing the Zaltin Corporation. I'll send a message to the Judiciary Committee immediately." I said and he nodded, which allowed me to cut the transmission.
With that, I immediately wrote and sent a message to the Judiciary Committee, Zaltin Corporation, and the Senate Chair. All of whom required a copy of the message. The Judiciary Committee would send a date as soon as possible.
However, I held back the Zaltin one and called someone else.
"Alexander, send a task force of 200 of our most loyal troops. Have them disguise themselves as Pirates and send them to the Zaltin Headquarters. Have Chonn and his team of slicers join them.
"Understood, Your Grace." He said and I cut the transmission.
And with this, let the Game Of Thrones begin....
Hehe, just kidding. Let the Game of Bacta begin instead.
