As each day passed, the glimmer of hope for a rescue grew fainter and fainter, until it eventually withered away and perished.
No one would be arriving.
Iridessa gazed at the desolate cold wall, feeling completely depleted of energy, as she observed the candle casting eerie shadows on the wall, reminiscent of the menacing monster that visited her daily to tear her apart.
Her eyes stung with pain, her body and vulnerability exposed as she lay bare on the table, at the mercy of those who would exploit her. The tears had ceased to flow, for she had shed them all in the beginning. It seemed as though her eyes had run dry, devoid of any more tears to shed.
She continued to gaze at the wall, not even flinching, not even blinking. She lay there motionless, resembling a lifeless corpse when the door creaked open and Lilith made her entrance into the room.
