Chapter 10 - Gone before daylight

Iridessa awoke to the gentle touch of sunlight on her face, slowly opening her eyes to the brightness of the room. Her body ached in a satisfying way, a reminder of the passionate night she had just experienced. As she reached out to the other side of the bed, she realized it was empty, her hand only grazing the rumpled sheets. Iridessa's eyes widened in surprise as she turned to face the vacant space.

"Idrus?" she called out, but there was no response. Panic surged through her then she realized she was completely naked. Hurriedly, she grabbed a large shirt from the closet and hastily put it on, determined to find Idrus.

"Idrus!" she shouted again, but there was still no reply. She glanced at her finger and breathed a sigh of relief as she noticed the ring still adorning it.

"Damn it, why did I assume he was after the ring?" Iridessa muttered, slapping her forehead. It suddenly dawned on her that he had left, that their encounter had meant nothing more than a one-night stand. Despite her initial expectations, she couldn't help but smile to herself, grateful for the incredible night they had shared.

As she made her way back to her room, thoughts of her plans for the Saturday ahead filled her mind. She wouldn't be going to work, and she was excited about the possibilities. Just then, her phone emitted a familiar sound, causing her heart to race. She rushed towards it, picking it up with anticipation. However, as she read the notification, disappointment washed over her. Nevertheless, she forced a smile and texted Indiana, letting them know they could come home. Setting her phone down, she realized she had secretly hoped it was Idrus, even though they hadn't exchanged numbers.

Iridessa swiftly tackled her chores, starting with tidying up her own room and then her friend's room since they were away because of her. Afterwards, she made her way to the living room and picked up her discarded stained shirt. As the memory of the stabbing resurfaced in her mind, Iridessa was taken aback. She couldn't believe she had actually mustered the audacity to harm someone. Reflecting on her past, she wished she had possessed that kind of strength during the darkest period of her life, rather than directing it towards the guy she had fancied, and whose strength had been a major turn-on for her.

Despite the injury on his side, he had managed to maintain complete control over her during their intimate encounters. He was like a well-oiled machine, and the thought of it caused Iridessa's cheeks to flush. She vividly recalled how he effortlessly lifted her up, forcefully pressed her against the wall, and thrust with such intensity that it felt as if he was etching his mark deep within her. They continued their passionate escapade for hours, until the early hours of the morning.

Lost in her own reverie, Iridessa was suddenly jolted back to reality as the door burst open, startling her. Indiana stormed in, her fiery personality evident in her fierce expression. "What on earth happened here?" she exclaimed, her eyes immediately fixating on the bloodstained shirt clutched in Iridessa's hands.

Nathaniel trailed behind, his demeanor calm but a flicker of concern evident on his face. "Iridessa, are you alright?" he inquired, his voice steady yet laced with worry.

Iridessa's heart raced as she struggled to gather her thoughts. "It's... it's nothing, really," she stumbled, but Indiana wasn't convinced.

"Nothing? That shirt tells a different story," Indiana retorted, her hands planted firmly on her hips. "Did that jerk you brought home do something to you? Is he dead? Because I swear, even if he's dead, I'll kick his ass if he had hurt you!" Her words were sharp, but genuine concern resonated in her tone.

Iridessa couldn't help but let out a chuckle at Indiana's response, despite the gravity of the situation. "No, no, he's not dead," she reassured them, attempting to pacify Indiana's anger. "It was just... a misunderstanding."

Nathaniel's brow furrowed in confusion. "A misunderstanding? What do you mean?" he inquired, stepping closer to Iridessa.

Taking a deep breath, Iridessa recounted the events of the previous night, explaining how she accidentally wounded Idrus. "But he's fine, really. It was just a minor stab wound," she hastily added, hoping to alleviate their concerns.

Indiana's expression softened slightly as she processed the information. "Well, damn. That's quite the misunderstanding," she remarked, a trace of amusement in her voice. "But seriously, are you alright?"

Nathaniel nodded in agreement, his concern still evident in his eyes. "Yeah, we were worried when we saw the blood," he admitted. "Are you sure you're okay, babe?"

Iridessa was overwhelmed with gratitude as she felt the support of her friends wash over her. "Thank you so much, guys," she said sincerely, her voice trembling with emotion. "I'm really okay, I promise. And I won't be having any more one night stands."

Indiana leaned in, a mischievous grin playing on her lips. "Come on, spill the dirty details, Iridessa. Did he rock your world?" she teased, earning a disapproving glance from Nathaniel.

"Nah, Indy, give her a break," Nathaniel intervened. "It's none of our business."

But Indiana wasn't deterred, her curiosity getting the best of her. "Oh, come on, Nat. Don't be such a prude," she retorted, turning back to Iridessa. "Seriously, though, did you try any kinky stuff? Like, did he tie you up or spank you or something?"

Iridessa's cheeks flushed even hotter at Indiana's persistent questioning, but she couldn't help but laugh nervously. "Well, let's just say it was quite an adventure," she evasively replied, hoping to avoid any further probing.

Indiana raised an eyebrow, clearly unsatisfied with the vague response. "An adventure, huh? Sounds intriguing," she remarked, her boldness barely contained. "Did you at least exchange numbers? Or did he make a quick exit?"

Iridessa's smile faltered slightly at the mention of Idrus leaving, a pang of disappointment washing over her. "Yeah, he... he left before I woke up," she admitted, trying to mask her sadness with a forced smile.

Indiana noticed the change in Iridessa's demeanor and immediately softened, her feisty nature giving way to genuine concern. "Aw, sweetie, I'm sorry," she said sympathetically, reaching out to squeeze Iridessa's hand. "Forget that guy. If he can't see how incredible you are, then he's not worth your time."

Nathaniel nodded in agreement, his expression filled with sincerity. "Yeah, Indy's right. Anyone would be lucky to have you," he added, his voice earnest. "Don't let one jerk ruin your day."

"Thank you, guys," she said, her voice choked with emotion. "I'm so grateful to have both of you."
