The second day. Morgan went into Joe's room that morning because he couldn't sleep overnight.
"Dad. This is still very early…" Morgan didn't allow him to finish when he cut him.
"I know the morning is still very young. But I will like to update you on the few things I have decided on." "Since you have been called up for an interrogation from the police, in other not to dent the image of the company if the outcome of the interrogation wasn't favourable, I have decided to let you know that it won't be necessary for you to go to the office at this period or attend to anything of the company." That surprised Joe.
"Are you telling me to quit?" He furrowed his gaze at his father. But Morgan went close to him and parted his shoulder. "I have worked so hard for this company to get to where it is now. I don't want anything at all to ruin it." "This is not you quiting, this is me, avoiding the predominant disaster that might befall my company because of you." "My company is no hero and it wouldn't want to pay for your loopholes." "When you get yourself off this hook, you will continue being the CEO of the company."
Those words hit Joe on his face. He swallowed hard the saliva in his mouth. "Is this your final decision?"
Morgan took a deep breath. "Son! You no longer have access to cars and any of the property that have been handed to you. From now on, you will go back to your former identity." "I hope you find a way out of this terrible mess you've put yourself."
Things just got worst for Joe. Flashes of how his father had said he would be with him and support him at every point revealed in his head. Joe remebered everything and now, he was met with betrayal.
His father who he thought would be with him left him all alone and even seized eveything he was given within a twinkle of an eye.
"Don't you think you are going too far?"
Morgan didn't bother replying and when he was about leaving Joe's room, he said. "You still have the privilege to stay in this luxurious mansion. Take that as a gift from me."
Morgan stepped out and Joe's heart shattered into several pieces.
Yet again, his father who had said he was searching for Joe for a long time had seen eveything he gave to Joe as doing him a favor. That was the height of it all.
Joe just couldn't cry as he wrapped his head around losing everything just with a little mistake he made.
Echoes of the invite of the police made his heart heavy. Joe had wanted to wear the clothes from the mansion, but he decided to wear that clothing he wore the day he was saved from the street.
'I am going to clear my name and get my position back.' Joe made that firm decision. He stepped out of his room and he wasn't surprised when no one approached him. He stepped out and he saw the cold treatment from all his employees. It was all a pain to Joe but then, he headed for the police station.
He took a private taxi and by the time he got to the police station, he was escorted to the interrogation room.
"I don't understand what you are saying earlier, officer."
The surperior officer took a seat in the front of Joe and he shot a stern gaze into Joe's eyes. He brought out a phone and said. "Sir. I just want you to explain to me what you mean about this statement you uttered while dismissing Miss Bianca."
Joe collected the phone and he watched the video presented before him. Joe saw nothing wrong with it and so, he spoke casually.
"There is no nothing wrong with what I said." "You are fired means her services is no longer required. What else do you want me to explain?"
The superior officer snapped the phone from his hand and he spoke up. "I can clearly see that you don't understand the gravity of what you said." "This clearly indicates that you are the one that planned the whole gun shot."
Joe couldn't wrap his head around what the superior officer just said. "I don't understand what you are trying to say."
The surperior officer sighed. "I will make you understand." "You said she is fired and after she left your company, she was fired right in the chest."
Joe completely realized where he was driving at. "What?! But that wasn't what I meant."
The surperior officer stood on his feet. "I am sorry Mr Joe Morgan. You are under arrest for the attempted murder of Miss Bianca. You are to remain in our custody for further investigations."
Right in Joe's face, he faced an injustice he never dreamt of. His heart almost shoot out of his chest and he swallowed hard the saliva in his mouth. "You can't say such a thing. I can't be arrested for the crime I didn't commit. What of Mathew? Why aren't you interrogating him? This is all a set up." Joe started lashing out his anger as he flexed his muscles.
"This won't help you Mr Joe. With your statement, it is fully evident that you wanted to send Miss Bianca to her early grave."
Joe gritted his teeth. The flashes of the content of the message he received earlier came into his head. It was an eyesore now that he was experiencing it. "Are you trying to rope me into what I didn't do?" Joe confronted him with those words.
The surperior officer didn't hide it from him anymore. "If that is what you take it as, so be it." "Officers! Arrest this man."
Before Joe knew it, his subordinates flooded the interrogation room and they arrested Joe immediately.
Right there, Joe knew exactly what just happened. He had just being roped into what he didn't do. It was a shame that he came to the police station before meeting with officer Taylor; the officer that had sent the message.
"You are surely going to regret this." Those were Joe's last words as he was being dragged out of the interrogation room to the nearest cell.
