Aren's POV
After that day of talk and reconciliation with Russell May, I began to change for the better. I spent more than two days reforming my country by advocating for better and fair policies for everyone regardless of race and socioeconomic background and reforming the system, as well as repealing and nullifying laws that exploit and persecute Otherworlders (I used that term as general since the term Renad was used in a handful of countries other than Batela). Also, those who oppose or object to my reforms will get the taste of my brutality of imprisoning them since I don't want the persecution and harassment of Otherworlders to continue again. So, when most of my country's governing body, the Council of Bishops and Elders, objected to my reforms, I called in some royal guards and had those who objected to being removed from their council seats and had them thrown in my palace dungeons for trying to make excuses for continuing to persecute Otherworlders. Because of this, at the last second, those who objected regretted their objections and begged me to let them go and promised to act according to my reforms. These people probably got scared of the nature of my old character.
"Good," said I while maintaining my posture, "because these Otherworlders deserved equal treatment like everybody else. Got that?"
That last part was said with a cold, threatening tone of my voice, a repurposed aspect of my old character.
Those who objected got scared so badly and nodded profusely and with fear.
"Y-Yes!"
"We will be kind and nice to them!"
"Good," I replied back with a nod, before dismissing the meeting to finish this announcement, believing that these reforms of mine will restore and improve our country's image soon.
Third person POV
Shortly after that, Aren made several visits to most of the towns, cities, and villages and apologized to everyone in those places, especially to the Renads and their families, and promised to provide any compensation for them to replace all of their losses, whether be life or materially. As a result of his efforts that lasted a few more days, his image improved and was restored for the better. His father was also happy about his change, hoping to later die with peace in his heart in the future.
Also, shortly thereafter, Aren wrote a letter of resignation to the Northern Territory, announcing the breaking of his secret alliance with them, and sent it via their diplomats. Upon receiving it, however, the Four Rulers of the Northern Territory, who hoped that Batela would provide easy access to the Southern Plains via its geographic position, were angry at his betrayal of their alliance. As a result, the Four Rulers executed the diplomats to Batela by summoning demon fire and having it burn the diplomats alive on the spot, causing them to scream in pain and agony, before commencing the faster search for the remaining Forbidden Fragments in order to do the job and primary mission of the Square Order of the Squirrels as soon as possible. At the same time, Loukas, who was at the Four Elders' Assembly Temple at that time, was collecting info about their next moves.
