Third person POV
1 month after Brygida's arrest and imprisonment, Russell was in the town of Taykar in the Province of Haki, Zale Valleys browsing the marketplace when a slave trader's advertising of a newly bought slave caught his attention. Upon hearing that, he went to check it out, only to be taken aback by the slave's shabby appearance. The slave's name was Masha Karoon, and she was an elf who was poor, 12 years old, and had white, long hair and brown eyes. She was short in stature and wore dirty peasant's clothes while looking down, willing to follow her master's order, literally to the last syllable.
"Who is she?" Russell asked the slave trader.
"Ah, hi there, youngster," replied the cheery and profiting slave trader back. "This one? This is an elf slave. Her name is Masha Karoon. She was our recent slave. We recently bought her from her uncle, who sold her off for money because of his gambling debts."
Russell was shocked to hear that. "What?! Her uncle did that?!"
The slave trader then solemnly nodded. "Yes, what a nasty man, right? Her parents died when she was 5 years old, and her uncle took her in but was abusive towards her while being drunk. That geezer barely worked as a tanner, so…"
"What was her character?" Russell asked.
"Well…she is very obedient, and she will follow your orders up to the last syllable."
Russell was taken aback by this.
"Woah, that was way too literal…" his mind said.
Now, wanting to free her and help her, Russell offered to buy her.
"Wo-ho-ho!" the slave trader was thrilled because the young Renad bus driver was willing to buy Masha. "You're lucky for today. That'll be 70 gold coins, 90 silver coins, or 110 copper coins, please. Say, you're a Traveler from Distant Lands, right?"
"What?" Russell asked back in puzzling.
"Oh, right! That's what we call people like you. You're a Renad, right? Because…you came from the Southern Plains, where that term was more commonly used."
"Yes, I am, so you called Renads Travelers from Distant Lands, right?"
"Yes, we do."
"Okay…um…I'll buy her for 70 gold coins then."
"Wow! What a splendid man you are! How about I lower the price to 55 gold coins since you're a Renad?"
"No, I'd rather pay the full price, please."
Russell then grabbed a small bag of gold coins, all 70 gold coins in it, and gave it to the slave trader. "Here."
Respecting Russell's decision to buy, the slave trader grabbed the payment and gave Masha to him. "Alright, girl," he said to her, "be good to him. Obey his every order, okay?"
"Yes, I will," replied Masha while being almost emotionless, before going to Russell.
The slave trader then gave the chains that bound Masha's neck to Russell, but Russell refused that, asking him to free her from it
The slave trader then accepted his decision and did so.
With that, Russell said to Masha, "Alright then, let's go. You'll be living at my home."
"Yes, master," responded Masha back.
And then, both the bus driver and his newly bought slave left the place together as the slave trader wavered them goodbye before enjoying his recent profits from Russell's pockets.
