Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 - Janet Zabka

Third person POV

A few days after Jaria's release and new life, in Garion City, in the morning at 10:21 a.m., Russell was dropping off some passengers from Marewell Town. John and Azalea are with him for today. Russell was making good money in his work that is self-employed. And then, for this morning, he said to his friends on board, "Okay, guys, how about we grab some quick snacks?"

"Sure!" Azalea replied back enthusiastically. "I'm hungry!"

"Me too as well," John positively added.

And so, Russell turned off his bus's engine, and he and his two friends got off to buy some quick, hot snacks at the city's street food stalls.

Along the way, the three of them browsed one stall after another. Azalea bought some hot bread with melted cheese in it. Russell bought some roasted corn cobs with butter melted on them. John got some bread from Russell. And then, the three of them sat down on a wooden table and chairs at the park to eat their snacks. As she and her friends ate up, Azalea, who had heard about Jaria and her failed attempted assassination of Russell, said to Russell how he had managed to help Jaria change for the better and admired his personality.

"Yeah, thanks a lot, Azalea," Russell replied back while being flustered a bit. "You know that the background of my previous life had shaped who am I now and in this life."

"Yes, but yours was more compassionate."

 "Yeah, it was true…"

As both of them resumed eating and John eating, too, Russell and Azalea noticed someone struggling to pick up her belongings and put them into her purse.

So, in response, Russell stood up, left his snacks behind, and ran to her to help her pick up her things. Then, the young bus driver did so, much to the young woman's surprise. His bus driver's attire had reminded her of the real world. "Is that youngster…" her mind said, "…a Renad, too?"

Russell then picked up a metal-covered book, which turned out to be Janet's magical laptop, and not noticing what it was, shoved it carefully into Janet's purse.

Then, he finished his aid for her and looked at her. "There, are you alright, ma'am?"

The woman, a Renad academy professor named Janet Zabka, then looked at him. "Um…thanks…"

"You're welcome, ma'am." Russell smiled at her. "What's your name?"

"Oh, um…my name is Janet Zabka. It's nice to meet you, young man."

"Nice to meet you, Zabka-san. My name is Russell May of Fort Right."

Both of them then got up, and Janet fixed her purse. She was running to her class lecture at this hour after going back to her cottage home in the southern part of the city to pay for this month's rent when she tripped and fell, spilling her purse's belongings on the marble pavement in that park. Luckily for her, Russell saw that and helped her out. But she didn't have any more time to chat with her, so she said to him that she had to go to work and left the area, much to Russell's mild confusion.

But Russell knew that she was busy, so he just shrugged it off and went back to her group. There while Russell was eating his snack, John asked him who was that person. "Her name is Janet Zabka, and that's about it…" replied Russell back.

"Oh…" Azalea gets it. "She's a busy woman."

 "Yeah, she was."

Later, before 11 o'clock struck the town clock tower, the three of them finished their snacks, threw their trash in the trash cans, and went back to Russell's bus, boarding it. Russell then started its engine and closed the door, before changing the sign of the next destination to Fernlay City via Monroe Town, Ralto Village, and Kapeton Town. After much waiting, 15 passengers boarded the bus, and Russell closed the door and left the area and the city with them, going east to Kapeton Town first.

Meanwhile, Janet arrived at her workplace, which was Garion City's Saint Tadeo Academy, and logged in for work. As she did so, a witch-like senior professor named Brygida Benedykta, an older woman with dark purple, long hair and red eyes, came to her and greeted her, before berating her with mockery for being almost late to her next class lecture. Janet then turned around and nervously responded back, "Yes, good morning. I am sorry. I am lucky to make it on time. Do that batch of students wait for too long?"

 "Look for yourself, Renad nerd."

Since Brygida was a senior professor to her according to the school staff hierarchy, Janet cannot say anything against her.

With that, she went to her class for her lecture with her students.
