Third person POV
At noon, just before lunchtime, Russell went out once more to check his bus. Before that, he crossed out the symbol on his looted hood with a dagger so he would be distinguished from the members who have that hood, and to give himself protection from the royal spies just in case. Azalea's mother had just come back from the market, and she and Azalea are now making lunch. Upon arriving there, he realized that his precious asset from the modern world was all beaten up from last night's raid by the bandits: The bus's body was filled with dents, scratches, and some blood from the criminals. A handful of the windows had either cracks or were shattered partially.
"Right…" he was chagrined by it, "…the last night's raid by those idiots really hit this thing hard."
Although he had seen its damage, he didn't realize it due to his focus on something else.
Now, he did and was now distraught by it.
"How am I supposed to fix it now?" he asked himself.
But then, the same screen that appeared before him on his first day in that world appeared before him now, telling him that he had gained the ability known as Rampage. He was also informed that he gained a skill known as Driver. The first one is an A-ranked one, while the second one is a C-ranked one. Rampage is an ability that enables a user to go on a violent rampage with a huge, mechanized vehicle like a bus. Driver, on the other hand, is a skill that enables a user to drive any wheeled vehicle, especially modern vehicles. Seeing his achievement of gaining those abilities, Russell was surprised, knowing that his efforts, thinking, and past knowledge had paid off.
"Wow…" his mind was happy, "…so cool. Good job, me."
As a reward for gaining that ability and skill, he was granted the ability to fix his bus with his mana. That was called Repairs. This would instantly fix his bus in an instant, but it would cost him a lot of mana, too. Typically, it will drain 40 to 51 percent of his mana, and the side effects of drainage in mana are fatigue, exhaustion, and low energy. Plus, it will only repair the windows, dents, and scratches, and he has to repair the engine himself. But it does have the ability to scan the engine for any damages.
"Oh…" Russell got it now.
So, he activated it in order to do so, draining most of his mana to repair his vehicle.
It did the trick, and the bus was restored to its former glory for the most part.
But, Russell felt tired due to the side effects of the ability.
"So tiring…" he said to himself.
But he regained most of his energy and continued, "Right, I would only need to wipe the blood out myself."
Then, the screen provided him with a book and a box of vehicle repair tools. The book is a manual on bus engine repairs, and the toolbox provided tools for repairs. The screen then showed the words to him, "Now you can use these to repair your bus. Read the manual carefully and use the tools and repair your bus engine with care. Good luck." With that the screen disappeared, leaving him with those essential tools for survival.
Russell was more than happy that the world had provided him with those things, so he grabbed the book and started reading it. He read it with determination, page by page. The manual book shows step-by-step procedures for different types of bus engine repairs. But those procedures are straightforward and not vague, giving him the edge on fixing it. Then, as Russell reads, Azalea called him for lunch.
So, he stood up, grabbed his toolbox using his left hand, and ran back to Azalea's house to eat lunch with her and her mother. There the three of them ate a delicious lunch together at the small dining room. The meal consisted of slices of whole wheat bread and roasted chicken stuffed with whole wheat bread, spices, and potatoes.
"Mmm…" Russell was happy on his meal as he ate, "…so good!"
He then turned to Azalea and her mother. "Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome, dear," Azalea's mother softly replied back. "Eat as much as you want."
"We are happy to have you here," Azalea happily added.
Russell smiled at them, before finishing his meal so he could do some wiping before continue reading his manual and do some maintenance on his bus.
After lunch, he burrowed a damp cloth from them to use it to wipe the blood stains on his bus's body. He wiped it good and made sure that the cloth was damp before wiping his vehicle. He did so, easily, and after that, he returned the cloth to them and went back to his self-study on maintenance and repairing.
By 1:23 p.m., he finished reading one-quarter of the book and is now ready to do some maintenance on his bus's engine. So, he opened the compartment of it in the rear and then opened his toolbox to get the tools needed for the maintenance. The first round of maintenance was on the engine's head part, where he did some checking and necessary repairs using the tools the world had provided him. It was a bit hard, but he did it with vigor. After that, he went to check the engine's intake manifold. But he found barely any problems in it, so he considered that inspection as passed.
After some time, at 2:13 p.m., he finished his first maintenance on his bus and closed the compartment and toolbox. To test it, he hopped in and turned on the engine. The engine was running smoothly without any problems at all. So, he turned it off and got off, happy that he had did his first maintenance with success. After that, he gathered his stuff and went back to Azalea's house to rest up and take a nap at his bedroom. The maintenance was a bit difficult, but he managed to pull it off good.
