As they settled in, a figure suddenly appeared before them, exuding a tense and urgent tone. She was both stunning and graceful, even Abbey had to admit she was elegant. An awkward tension filled the air as the mysterious lady turned her focus to Lily. With a piercing stare, she asked why they were together. Lily, feeling nauseous, was unable to answer. Abbey sensed that these two had a history, so he chose to stay out of it. Despite the tension, Lily remained silent and kept her gaze fixed on the ground. The mysterious lady, sensing Lily's hesitation, leaned in and whispered in a low tone, "Do you even love me anymore?" Shocked, Lily glanced at Abbey to observe his reaction, but he paid no attention to the exchange. Feeling the situation shifting, Lily could no longer stay quiet. She motioned for the mysterious lady to sit beside her and calmly explained that something had changed in her since waking from her coma. She acknowledged their past together but expressed that her feelings had changed. The mysterious lady was taken aback and fell into a state of shock, staring blankly into the sky.
The air around them seemed frozen now. Every second felt like eternity. The mysterious lady felt like her world had been turned upside down as tears could be seen flowing down from her eyes. She tried desperately to steady herself, but there was nothing she could do about the heartbreak. Turning her gaze to Abbey and then back to Lily, her voice became cold as she asked Lily, "Is he the one you are leaving me for?" Lily was surprised by the question because she had yet to figure it out herself. All she knew was that she had feelings for Abbey. Lily was so embarrassed that she couldn't even look at Abbey now. She tried to glance at him from the corner of her eye to observe his reaction, but as usual, Abbey seemed uninterested. "I would give the whole world to know what he thinks about me," Lily thought to herself. Suddenly, another person appeared on the scene. She was well-dressed with a beautiful, curvy body. One could tell that she came from an influential family. She spoke to the mysterious lady, "What happened? You left me over there to come over here and you looked as if you had seen a ghost. Please tell me what is happening with you," she concluded. The mysterious lady turned to the newcomer and replied, "I am sorry to have left like that, but I saw someone I hadn't seen in over seven years." The newcomer seemed very concerned about the mysterious lady's affairs and asked with a serious expression, "Are you talking about your ex?" When Lily heard the word "ex" from the newcomer's lips, she felt another wave of shock pass through her heart.
Lily could not hold herself back from speaking immediately. She heard the newcomer say those words and turned her gaze to meet the mysterious lady's eyes. With a cold demeanor, she said, "Here I am, feeling guilty to be here with another person. But you, on the other hand, seem to have moved on a long time ago." She declared, trying to catch her breath. Abbey, caught in the middle of the storm, could not act indifferent. He slowly got up to leave, but met a strong stare from Lily that made his legs give way. He immediately became rooted to his seat. He thought to himself, "If this is the kind of love my mother used to warn me about, then I am in trouble. A very big trouble."
The mysterious lady shot a look at the newcomer, as if warning her to know her place and not to meddle in things she does not understand. Her focus was, of course, on Lily, as she replied, "That's not fair. How can you judge me so harshly? You have been in a coma for seven years, and I still came nearly every time to check on you." The mysterious lady trailed off, not wanting to look paranoid. Lily took a deep breath to calm herself before saying, "Please forgive me for speaking out of turn. I thought that after seven years, you would have moved on by now. But it seems we have much to talk about." Lily concluded. For the first time since this whole incident started, there was a rare smile on the mysterious lady's face. She turned to the newcomer and said, "Jessica, this is my friend Lily. Lily, this is my companion, Jessica." After exchanging pleasantries, Lily turned to Abbey and said, "Abbey, meet Cassandra and her companion, Jessica." She also did the same to Cassandra and Jessica, saying, "Cassandra and Jessica, meet Abbey, my friend to whom I owe my life."
Both Cassandra and Jessica were startled by Lily's comment. Cassandra, in particular, was taken aback by the words "to whom I owe my life." She drifted back and forth, refusing to press the issue. Abbey broke the ice between them by saying to Lily, "I believe the phrase 'I owe him my life' is too strong." But Lily, having none of it, interjected, "Don't I owe you my life? If not for you, I would still be comatose right now." Once again, both Cassandra and Jessica were surprised to hear Lily speak highly of Abbey. Cassandra finally realized that while Lily had a thing for Abbey, he was the one who had saved her life.
Cassandra took a deep breath before saying to Abbey, "You're the doctor who saved her life, right? I've heard about you from the doctors at the hospital." Abbey sought to clarify by saying to both Cassandra and Jessica, "I'm not a doctor. I practice other forms of medicine, especially for cases that modern medicine has failed to address or cure." Lily was even more impressed with Abbey and held out her hand to grab his, holding it passionately. Cassandra saw through this action and raised an eyebrow at Lily, while Jessica also noticed Cassandra's expressions and raised an eyebrow of her own. Only Abbey was left clueless and in the dark. Once again, there was an awkward tension in the air between them.
After a while, Lily let go of Abbey's hand and addressed both Cassandra and Jessica with a serious expression. "Now you can see why I think so highly of him. He's my savior and I owe him everything." She stared directly at Cassandra and continued, "I hope you can understand my decision now."
Those words hit Cassandra hard and went straight into her heart, as it sank in. She was trying so hard to catch her breath, as if she was suffering from respiratory failure. She thought to herself, "Is she leaving me for him?" Both Abbey and Jessica felt like third wheels in this relationship. All of a sudden, Lily reached out her hand to hold Cassandra's hand and spoke softly to her, "You have already found someone to replace me and heal your broken heart." Lily paused, using the opportunity to stare at Jessica. "And from what I can see and tell, she is into you. Why do you want to complicate things now by adding me to the mix?" she concluded. Cassandra was very confused now, torn between an old flame and a new flame. "This world is truly unfair," she murmured to herself. Turning to face Jessica, she held her hand tightly before saying, as if declaring her true feelings, "Thank you for helping me all these years." It was now Jessica's turn to be startled. She tried very hard to discern the true meaning of Cassandra's words. She looked completely puzzled and confused, a stern expression visible on her face. "Are you breaking up with me or are you loving me even more?" she asked Cassandra immediately with concern. A glimpse of light could be seen on Cassandra's face as she replied, "I am loving you." There was a glow on Jessica's face immediately after hearing those words from Cassandra. For all this time, she had been worried that she was going to get dumped, but instead of getting dumped, she was receiving a declaration of love from her partner.
As Lily gazed at the couple, a contented smile spread across her face. She couldn't help but steal glances at Abbey, feeling relieved that there were no ugly incidents before their resolution. She didn't want to be caught in the middle of any drama. After the declaration was finished, both Cassandra and Jessica bid farewell to Lily and Abbey. However, before leaving, Cassandra gave Abbey a warning glance and told him to take care of her friend or he would regret it. Lily felt embarrassed and frustrated as she heard Cassandra's words, believing that she was trying to sabotage her chances with Abbey. Meanwhile, Abbey paid little attention to Cassandra's words and instead focused on his surroundings. Lost in his thoughts, his phone suddenly began to ring loudly, displaying Sharon's name on the caller ID.
