Chapter 3 - Going away from all I knew

The paces were getting louder. 'What should I do? After what happened, I wonder if I should follow this person or not. Even though my parents agreed, they might still ask for my opinion, but I don't feel in the way to be able to make a choice. Shall I just ask to go but not to stay there? I don't think they would allow such a thing. For now, I think that I should just play dumb as usual, even if I have a really bad feeling'. The door suddenly opened, and Peter's mother's green eyes came out of there. She told him to take a bag and put there what needed for a small journey with the excuse of having to take something for the winter. 'So they decided not to tell me. It annoys me a bit, but I can't do anything, even though not either a three years old would fall for such a lie'. Now, you have to know that in this world, usually people have an intelligence that corresponds to the one of people two years older in our world, and that's why Peter is so offended by his mother's words. Peter took his warmest coat, and his father obliged him to cover every cm of his body (Peter wandered again about the reason. It was becoming too strange 'cause they even told him to use an umbrella). They allowed him to go out only when he could barely walk, for his huge annoyance. Luckily, the man's car was really close to his house. In the end, a phone was given to Peter and his parents told him to use it to call them every evening. 'Now, you are underestimating my cleverness too much. How can you even think that to tell me to call you every day wouldn't make me suspicious? Well, at least it's proof that I'm really good at acting, though I'm not interested at all in it and it won't be useful for much more. If I show myself too stupid, somebody might call a doctor, and I'm not kidding'. The mobile phone was a model made for two years olders, with just two buttons: one to call and one to close the call. Luckily, nobody noticed that Peter was starting to get red for anger. You might have noticed, but he is really prideful sometimes, and he can lose patience quite fast if someone overpasses some limits. In the end, he and the man, who said to be a butler, left the village. The travel was really long, but when they arrived at the castle (still for unknown reasons), Peter stayed mouth open for some minutes. You all know what is magic (or at least you have a vague idea of it) and you probably are in Peter's same childhood situation: you almost surely think of magic as something that doesn't exist. In fact, almost everybody in places without royals thought that magic and fantasy creatures were all legends. The reason? Only nobles are allowed to use it, for an ancient rule, and only their most trusted people, and only with a vote of silence, are allowed to know. Those legends came from unlucky people who broke the vote (thought they all did a bad end). The reigns' capitals were ones of the few places where people could use magic freely because there were only people of the categories mentioned before. Anyway, it's not that people who are not nobles can't use it, it's only that they can use another type of magic that almost nobody knows, because if they would try nobles' magic, they would have to pay a price, 'cause there, nobles were the directs descendents of the greatests most powerful creatures (nobody knows what they are or where they come from, so I'm obliged to call them this way). Now, keep in mind that Peter knew nothing of this all, and his whole world has just been turned upside down.
